Kane Brown, Miranda Lambert & Morgan Wallen are headlining Watershed 2022

Watershed Festival has announced its 2022 lineup, and headliners Morgan Wallen, Miranda Lambert and Kane Brown are leading the pack.

Each will lead the bill on one of the event's three days. Other acts scheduled to play include Jake Owen, Chase Rice, Jordan Davis, Runaway June, Lauren Alaina and many others. Tickets will go on sale on February 11.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of Watershed. The festivities will once again be held in George, Washington.

It's shaping up to be a big year for all three headliners. Miranda's joining forces with Little Big Town to revive their co-headlining Bandwagon Tour, and Kane's currently teasing the release of his next studio album.

Meanwhile, Morgan is mounting a return to the spotlight after being benched by many facets of the music industry last year when video footage emerged — exactly one year ago on Wednesday — of him yelling a racist slur.

In a mid-2021 interview with ABC's Good Morning America, Morgan discussed the incident and pledged $500,000 in donations to Black organizations. Last week, he completed fulfilling that pledge, donating $100,000 to Nashville's National Museum for African American Music, according to USA Today.

The singer has since announced his own headlining tour, and has also plotted appearances at multiple festivals and released new music.

Here she comes again: Dolly Parton's potentially going into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame

It seems few would deny Dolly Parton‘s a metaphorical rock star — but she could soon be one for real.

The Country Music Hall of Famer is now one of 17 nominees for potential induction this year into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. That puts Dolly in the same category as fellow contenders Lionel RichieDionne WarwickCarly Simon, Pat BenatarEurythmics, and Duran Duran, among others.

Of course, the superstar from East Tennessee is certainly not without cred in the pop and rock world. She made it to #3 with “Here You Come Again” as far back as 1977, following that with lesser crossover hits like “Two Doors Down” and “Baby I’m Burnin’.” By 1980, she’d made it all the way to the top with “9 to 5.”

“Her songwriting transcends just maybe her home base, which is country,” the Rock & Roll Hall’s Jason Hanley points out. “And you’ve got Whitney Houston having one of the biggest selling songs ever with ‘I Will Always Love You.'”

“You’ve got other bands recording ‘Jolene,'” he adds. “You know, she has hit singles with Kenny Rogers, ‘Islands in the Stream.'”

Dolly returned to the top of the pop charts in 1983 with “Islands,” before Whitney’s cover smash in 1992. Rock duo The White Stripes covered “Jolene” in 2004, with Dolly most recently winning a Grammy for guesting on the Pentatonix version in 2017.

We’ll find out if Dolly makes it into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame when the final inductees are revealed later this year.

Nearly 6,000 residents are evacuated over fears of explosion due to fire at fertilizer plant in Winston-Salem, North Carolina

At least 6,000 residents in the North Carolina city of Winston-Salem have been asked to evacuate the area during an active fire at the Winston Weaver Co. fertilizer plant.  Winston-Salem Fire Department Battalion Chief Patrick Grubbs said at a news conference on Tuesday “We’re asking everyone to stay out of this area,” as officials told residents within a 1-mile radius of the plant to evacuate.  In addition to fears of a potential explosion, Grubbs also said that air quality in the area would likely be poor in the midst of the fire: “As the sun rises, there’s going to be a lot of smoke.”

Winston-Salem Fire Chief Trey Mayo stressed, “We’re asking everyone to stay out of this area. Now is the time to get out”.  With 600 tons of combustible ammonium nitrate stored at the site, the risk of an explosion would remain through Wednesday.  Mayo added, “We’ve got about a 36-hour window where that explosion potential exists.”

According to officials, the fire broke out on Monday evening; no injuries were reported as of Tuesday.  In addition to the evacuations, the blaze also forced the nearby Wake Forest University to cancel classes for Tuesday. The school opened up several sites for faculty, staff or students who are evacuating and need somewhere to go.

Authorities have not yet determined what caused the fire. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives said Tuesday that its investigators would be assisting local firefighters.

1 student dead, another critically injured in shooting at Minnesota school

One student is dead, and another is in critical condition after a shooting Tuesday outside a school in Richfield, Minnesota, about 7 miles south of downtown Minneapolis.

Richfield Police Chief Jay Henthorne said that the police were called to the South Education Center at 12:07 p.m., and upon arrival, discovered “two students had been shot on the sidewalk outside of the school.” Henthorne said the suspects fled “immediately,” and area schools were locked down. After a search of South Education Center, police determined that “no further threat existed” and other lockdowns were lifted.

Schools Superintendent Sandra Lewandowski said that the 200-student facility was evacuated. The school includes pre-K students through young adults, who attend for special education and community programs. Mr. Lewandowski said the shooting happened outside the facility’s front entrance.

Law enforcement was searching for “suspects,” Chief Henthorne said, and the FBI was assisting. No details were released about the victims, just that the deceased student was male.
