Lady Gaga announces new song from upcoming film ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ titled ‘Hold My Hand’

Lady Gaga has announced the new song from the upcoming Tom Cruise film Top Gun: Maverick titled ‘Hold My Hand.’ The song is written by Gaga and will be featured in the film, opening May 27. It will also be released on May 3 (you can pre-save the track – here).  Earlier this week, the singer teased lyrics from the song, writing, “Hold my hand everything will be ok I heard from the heavens that clouds have been grey.”  The following day she shared, “Pull me close wrap me in your aching arms I see that you’re hurtin’”

Tom Cruise returns as Pete “Maverick” Mitchell in  Top Gun: Maverick.  According to a synopsis of the film, Maverick is ‘a courageous test pilot who dodges the advancement in rank that would ground him. He finds himself training a detachment of TOPGUN graduates for a specialized mission the likes of which no living pilot has ever seen, Maverick encounters Lt. Bradley Bradshaw (Miles Teller), call sign: “Rooster,” the son of Maverick’s late friend and Radar Intercept Officer Lt. Nick Bradshaw, aka “Goose.’

Gaga’s ballad comes after Cruise was first spotted at her Las Vegas show, Enigma in December 2019. “Hold My Hand” was written for the motion picture and is featured throughout the film.

Bad Bunny to star in Spider-Man standalone film ‘El Muerto’

Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio — better known by his stage name Bad Bunny — has been cast as the newest Marvel hero, and will lead the Spider-Man standalone comic book film “El Muerto.” Ocasio will be the first Latino actor to headline a live-action Marvel film.

Sony Motion Picture Group president Sanford Panitch made the announcement at CinemaCon in Las Vegas.  Known as Juan-Carlos Estrada Sanchez in the comics, El Muerto is a wrestler whose powers are handed down by ancestry in the form of a mask (which, according to Marvel’s official site, gives him superhuman strength). In past comics, El Muerto has gotten in the ring with Spider-Man himself.  At CinemaCon, Sony suggested Ocasio will portray ‘an antihero on the verge of inheriting his father’s power.’

Bad Bunny is a noted professional wrestling fan who competed at WWE’s WrestleMania 37 in April and at the 2022 Royal Rumble in January. Bad Bunny told the crowd at CinemaCon about his love of wrestling, adding, “to bring El Muerto to life is just incredible…so exciting.”   Bad Bunny’s acting experience includes a previous role in ‘Narcos: Mexico’, and he will next be seen in Bullet Train, which comes to theaters on July 29.

“El Muerto” is set to hit theaters on Jan. 12, 2024.

“Cheers”: Chris Young announces an Old Dominion collab called “Everybody Needs a Song”

Chris Young is teaming up with the guys from Old Dominion for his next release, a feel-good track called “Everybody Needs a Song.”

The “Famous Friends” star previewed a snippet of his new track on his social media Thursday, also telling fans that the song will be out in full Friday. “Cheers to new music dropping on Friday with [Old Dominion],” Chris wrote.

The video teaser shows the two acts sharing a long-distance drink together, with Chris raising his glass to toast the camera and then — when the glass pulls away — revealing Old Dominion.

Chris has had a lot of success with collaborations lately. “Famous Friends,” his duet with Kane Brown, was not only a number-one hit but also the most-played country radio single of 2021. He and Cassadee Pope scored a big hit in 2016 with their song, “Think of You,” while “At the End of a Bar” — a team-up between Chris and Mitchell Tenpenny — is currently inside the top 30 at country radio.

Chris Stapleton postpones Canadian shows after COVID exposure: “We are focused on staying safe”

Chris Stapleton is halting his All American Road Show tour for the weekend.

The singer and his band were scheduled to head up north for three Canadian shows, but a positive COVID-19 test within the band and “subsequent exposure” has changed those plans.

“We want you all to know that this was not a decision we made lightly,” Chris told his fans on social media when he broke the news. “We sincerely apologize to every ticket holder.”

The shows affected are his concerts in London, Ontario; Ottawa, Ontario; and Montreal, originally set to take place on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, respectively. But Chris isn't outright canceling the shows: He says he'll reschedule them, with new dates to be announced soon.

“We are focused on staying safe & hope to see you all soon,” Chris said at the conclusion of his message.

Chris' 2022 All American Road Show launched in April. This year's lineup features a rotating cast of support acts, including Willie Nelson & Family, Sheryl Crow and more. This weekend's batch of shows would have featured Elle King.

Chris and Elle are still planning to hit Canada this month. Not including the postponed dates, there are six All American Road Show stops in Canada over the next few weeks on Chris' tour calendar.

“Tourist”: Miranda Lambert previews “the song on the record I want to live out the most”

Miranda Lambert is getting closer to releasing her next studio album, Palomino, and the singer shared some of the project's backstory via one of its songs.

The singer posted a clip on social media of an unreleased song called “Tourist,” along with a photo montage of herself traveling with her husband, Brendan McLoughlin, plus friends and family.

“Tourist' was the first song we wrote for Palomino and it set the tone for the record,” Miranda explains. “I've toured, but I haven't really gotten to be a tourist. This is the song on the record I want to live out the most.”

Travel is a theme throughout Palomino, with many of its songs written about towns and cities across the country — and the colorful characters who live there. The lead single is “If I Was a Cowboy,” and Miranda has also previewed the album with songs like “Strange” and “Actin' Up.”

The full project comes out on Friday.

Chris Janson admits the pandemic tested his faith, but it led to “the best album-making process I've had”

Like every other touring artist, Chris Janson had his world rocked by the COVID-19 pandemic.

“I will never forget getting a phone call from my agent, and every one of our tour dates getting the rug pulled out,” the singer tells Billboard. “Scary as hell, one of the scariest moments of my life.”

It was March 2020, and artists across the country genre were preparing to ramp up for their summer tours. But in the span of just a few days, those plans all folded, and Chris wasn't sure when he'd see the stage again.

“People look at me as a man of faith, and I am, but I lost faith for a minute,” he admits. “I was scared.”

Chris shared his fears with fans in real time. That April, he shared an unreleased song he'd written called “Put Me Back to Work,” detailing the plight of working men and women who found themselves suddenly, indefinitely out of a job during the pandemic — and had nothing to do but wait it out and watch their bank accounts dwindle.

But now, as he looks toward the Friday release of his new album, All In, Chris says that some aspects of his work really thrived during the pandemic. He tells Billboard that about half of the album was written over Zoom and FaceTime, describing it as “the best album-making process I've had” and explaining that “It was efficient and I was able to write with so many people.”

Ahead of the album, Chris has shared songs like “Bye Mom,” “Things You Can’t Live Without” and the title track.
