Ashley McBryde says she and Carly Pearce “hit it off” writing “Never Wanted to Be That Girl”

Ashley McBryde is opening up about how she and Carly Pearce approached the subject of “Never Wanted to Be That Girl.”

When the hit singers sat down to write with Shane McAnally, they discussed writing something similar to Reba McEntire and Linda Davis‘ Grammy-winning duet, “Does He Love You,” about two women in love with the same man, along with Lee Ann Womack‘s “The Fool,” where she meets the woman with whom her husband is having an affair. But Carly and Ashley were intentional about not placing blame on anyone involved in the tricky situation.

“We thought, ‘what if we don’t call the guy a crap sack, and what if we don’t call each other a cheap slut? What happens? What’s the story then?'” Ashley recalls of the writing process. “What if it’s two women that are exhibiting behaviors they never wanted to exhibit? And it is his fault that they’re doing it, but they don’t blame him. They just recognize it and go, ‘dadgum.'”

Just like the two women in the song have found themselves in a peculiar scenario, Ashley admits that she initially thought she and Carly were an “unlikely” match, referring to herself as a tattoo-covered fast-talker, while Carly is “softly spoken” and “well put-together.” But writing the vulnerable song allowed them to realize just how similar they are.

“We aren’t likely pals, but man, did we hit it off. And then writing ‘Never Wanted to Be That Girl’ together just solidified our love for each other and our respect for each other more than anything,” Ashley says.

“Never” is currently at #2 on country radio. It was named Music Event of the Year at the 2022 ACM Awards.

Luke Bryan announces dates of his ‘2022 Farm Tour’

Luke Bryan announced his thirteenth Farm Tour this September, taking place during a two-week break from his Raised Up Right Tour which kicks-off in June.  Bryan will perform at farms across six states September 15th-24th. Riley Green, Jameson Rodgers, the Peach Pickers, and DJ Rock will be the special guests.

Over 100,000 fans have attended the Farm Tour since its inception in 2009. Small town and farming pretty much sum up my childhood. It is my way of life and I know it is a way of life for so many. It is truly the highlight of my year for me and my whole team.”

Tickets for the 2022 Farm Tour will go on sale on Thursday, May 5 on Bryan’s website at 10 AM local time. Presale tickets for Nut House fan club members and fan App are available now at LukeBryan.com/allaccesspass. “Defying Gravity”: Maren Morris wants to audition for 'Wicked'

Is Maren Morris auditioning for Wicked?

In a Sunday tweet, the country star reveals that she has her sights set on the bright lights of Broadway. “Gonna send an audition tape in for Wicked on Broadway. What the hell. Let's see what happens,” Maren declares, alongside a green heart and witch emoji.

The multi-faceted singer goes on to cite her credentials, including hosting Jimmy Kimmel Live!, performing with Dolly Parton at the Newport Folk Festival, flying with the US Air Force’s Thunderbirds, and even getting her bangs cut, as examples of other dreams that have come true.

“I'm into taking things head on, fail or succeed. Might as well cut the s*** on being coy. Chase your weird dreams down,” she says

When pressed on which lead character she’d rather play, Glinda or Elphaba, “The Middle” hitmaker says she identifies “heavily” as Elphaba, who becomes the Wicked Witch of the West in The Wizard of Oz. “Good god her songs are high,” Maren adds.

The singer’s announcement sent fans into a frenzy, with many of them creating memes that impose her face onto the green-skinned Elphaba.

Kristin Chenoweth and Idina Menzel originated the roles of Glinda and Elphaba, respectively, when Wicked debuted on Broadway in 2003. It’s now being adapted into a film starring Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo, set for release in 2024.

Miranda Lambert “wasn't prepared” for media attention after Blake Shelton divorce

Miranda Lambert cannot tell a lie when it comes to her music.

In an interview with CBS Sunday MorningMiranda reflects on the intense media coverage surrounding her high-profile divorce from Blake Shelton in 2014, and how it caught the relatively private singer off guard.

“I wasn’t prepared for that,” she says of the constant media attention. “It’s not nice sometimes, but I think you’ve got to take it with a grain of salt and know that I’m a singer-songwriter so luckily I can tell my whole truth. I will not lie in my music.”

Two years after the divorce, Miranda released her critically acclaimed 2016 album, The Weight of These Wings, that included lead single “Vice” and the heartbreak ballad “Tin Man.” It was named Album of the Year at the 2017 ACM Awards.

In 2019, Miranda announced that she had married former NYPD officer Brendan McLoughlin in a secret ceremony on her Tennessee farm. Their relationship later inspired her top-10 hit, “Settling Down.”

“I’ve also grown up and I’ve learned a lot about myself and I think at some point you just start to settle into who you are,” she continues. “I feel at peace with myself.”

Miranda released her new album, Palomino, on Friday.
