Brothers Osborne explain how CMA Fest helps them grow their career each year: “It really is like a snapshot”

If you're wondering what to expect from Brothers Osborne's performance on the CMA Fest TV special, the bandmates have a little hint to share.

“We were allowed to bring a prop from our live shows. Actually, two props,” says one-half of the band, John Osborne. “Without giving anything away — keep your eyes peeled for that. Props. Yeah.”

The special will feature the brother duo playing “Skeletons,” the title track from their latest album, on the big stadium stage. For Brothers Osborne, taking the main stage for their performance is a reminder of how far they've come, especially compared to the CMA Fests they played at the outset of their career.

“We've been playing it for a long time,” says TJ Osborne. “We've played these small little stages, sometimes three or four of them in a single day…labels got to see us, publishers got to see us, and then [we got to] make some fans.”

It's a lot of work to build a grassroots fanbase like that, but the Brothers wouldn't have it any other way. “Now to be here, playing the stadium, it really is like a snapshot — these different stages we would play and grow in,” TJ continues.

“It really puts into perspective, you know, what hard work can do,” he adds, “but also having these opportunities, how incredibly helpful they are.”

The CMA Fest special was filmed during the annual festival in downtown Nashville in June. Dierks Bentley and Elle King are hosting the show, which airs on August 3 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC. It will also be available to watch on Hulu the next day.

Lauren Alaina signs with Big Loud Records

Lauren Alaina is officially signed to Big Loud Records, taking to social media to share the exciting news with fans.  Alaina wrote on Instagram:  “Signed a very BIG and LOUD record deal. Thank you, @bigloud for being willing and LABEL to make music with me. Let’s goooooo!!!! 🖊

The news comes three months after Alaina announced her departure from her longtime record label after nearly 11 years. During her time with the label, Alaina released two EPs, including Getting Good (2020), Getting Over Him (2020), as well as three full length albums, Wildflower (2011), Road Less Traveled (2017), and Sitting Pretty On Top of the World (2021).

Alaina joins Big Loud Record’s famous roster of hitmakers, including Chris Lane, ERNEST, HARDY, Jake Owen, Morgan Wallen, Mackenzie Porter, Lily Rose, Larry Fleet and more. Big Loud CEO/Partner Seth England said: “We feel like Lauren is absolutely one of the best vocalists, male or female, in this town. Certainly, she’s had success, but we humbly think she has barely scratched the surface of what we think we can do together. Lauren Alaina deserves to be, in my opinion, on the same pedestal as Carrie Underwood, and it’s our job to help her find that mode.” England also revealed that Alaina’s fans can expect a new project from her later this year, produced by Joey Moi.

Recently, Alaina shared a duet with her new labelmate, Chris Lane, reimagining King Harvest’s 1973 hit “Dancin’ In The Moonlight.”  She has quickly became Nashville’s go-to duet partner, recording collaborations with artists such as Chris Young, Dustin Lynch, Jon Pardi, BRELAND and more.  Alaina has also earned three No. 1 hits, including “Road Less Traveled;” “What Ifs,” her 6x Platinum duet with Kane Brown; and “One Beer” with HARDY and Devin Dawson.

Dolly Parton teams up with Bill Anderson for new duet “Someday It’ll All Make Sense”

Bill Anderson and Dolly Parton have premiered the music video for the heartfelt duet, “Someday It’ll All Make Sense.”

Parton said in a statement:  “Working with my ol’ buddy Bill Anderson was the most meaningful fun I’ve had in years. I love the song we sang, I love how we sounded together on it and getting to do a video with him was just icing on the cake. I hope the fans enjoy it as much as we enjoyed being together on it.” Anderson added:  Hopefully, our song can help bring a bit of levity to a world that seems upside down and sideways so much of the time these days. If it can, music will have once again proven itself to be the optimal healer.”

Anderson co-wrote the duet with Bobby Tomberlin and Ryan Larkins. “Someday It’ll All Make Sense” appears on Anderson’s As Far As I Can See: The Best Of, a 16-track collection that released last month that includes some of his most beloved songs — “City Lights,” “Still,” “Po’ Folks,” “The Tip Of My Fingers,” and “Sometimes.”

Shawn Mendes cancels remainder of 2022 tour amid mental health struggles

Shawn Mendes has canceled the remaining dates on his ‘Wonder’ world tour to prioritize his mental health, after postponing the show for three weeks earlier this month.

The 23-year-old singer wrote on social media“As you guys know, I had to postpone the past few weeks of shows since I wasn’t totally prepared for the toll that being back on the road would take on me. I started this tour excited to finally get back to playing live after a long break due to the pandemic, but the reality is I was not at all ready for how difficult touring would be after this time away. After speaking more with my team and working with an incredible group of health professionals, it has become more clear that I need to take the time I’ve never taken personally, to ground myself and come back stronger. “

Mendes kicked off the Wonder tour in June and was scheduled to perform across North America, Europe and the United Kingdom through August 2023.  Mendes said in his statement: “We were hopeful that I might be able to pick up with the rest of the dates after some much needed time off, but at this time I have to put my health first as my first priority. This doesn’t mean I won’t be making new music, and I can’t wait to see you on tour in the future.  I know you all have been waiting so long to see these shows, and it breaks my heart to tell you this but I promise I will be back as soon as I’ve taken the right time to heal. I love you all and thank you all so much for supporting me and sticking by me on this journey.”

Kane Brown puts on a light show for his “Grand” music video

Life is “Grand” for Kane Brown, and he's proving it with a dazzling light show-themed music video that goes along with his fast-paced new pop song.

Kane put out “Grand” last week. Though the song comes off the track list for his upcoming Different Man album — a project he's described as straightforward country — the new song is a major nod to his pop side.

In keeping with those different stylistic leanings, the music video for “Grand” is quite a bit different than the honky tonkin' music video he put out for his last single, “Like I Love Country Music.”

This time around, Kane opts for a laser light show, putting on a dazzling and futuristic display as he sings along to the song.

It's an impressive contrast from “Like I Love Country Music” and just goes to show that Kane is among the diverse artists in the format. Different Man will be out in full on September 9.

Maren Morris, Kacey Musgraves earn spots on Barack Obama's 2022 summer playlist

Former U.S. President Barack Obama put out his annual summer playlist this week, and both Maren Morris and Kacey Musgraves made the cut.

It seems that the ex-president is more than just a casual fan, as he selected album cuts — not singles — from both country stars. His pick from Maren was “The Furthest Thing” off her 2022 Humble Quest album. From Kacey's catalog, he selected “Keep Looking Up,” featured on her most recent album, Star-Crossed.

“Every year, I get excited to share my summer playlist because I learn about so many new artists from your replies,” Obama wrote on social media when sharing his favorite summer songs this year. “It's an example of how music really can bring us all together.”

Obama's 2022 summer playlist features 44 songs from across all genres and musical eras. In addition to several recently released tracks, like Kacey and Maren's songs, the former president included Bruce Springsteen's “Dancing in the Dark,” Prince's “Let's Go Crazy” and more.
