“The gang's all here”: Carrie Underwood shows photos from inside her Denim & Rhinestones Tour rehearsals

Carrie Underwood is gearing up to hit the road on her Denim & Rhinestones Tour, and she’s giving fans a look inside.

Recently, the superstar has been sharing photos from her tour rehearsals, beginning with a black-and-white shot of her band performing inside an empty soundstage, their instruments scattered around the room as Carrie can be seen front and center with a microphone in hand. “The gang’s all here. Are you ready?” she captions the moment.

The hitmaker then shared a snap belting out an undisclosed track in the rehearsal space. “3 WEEKS AWAY!!! Any guesses on what song I’m rehearsing here?” she asked, to which some fans suggested she’s either singing “Ghost Story,” the lead single of Denim & Rhinestones, or “Cry Pretty,” the hit title track off her last album.

She also teased a special guest who showed up to rehearsals via a close-up shot that captured Carrie donning a pair of purple sparkly boots while the mystery guest wore silver, gemstone-covered sneakers.

“Guess who showed up at rehearsals today?” she writes with the raised eyes emoji; fans flooded the comment section suggesting that it’s tour opener, Jimmie Allen

Carrie and Jimmie will embark on the Denim & Rhinestones Tour on October 15 in Greenville, S.C., continuing through March 2023.

“I'm really proud of this song”: Jake Owen releases new single, “Up There Down Here”

Big Loud Records

Jake Owen‘s new single, “Up There Down Here” is a tribute to angels on earth.

Though the song’s leading man doesn’t frequent the church, he compares the love of his life to “a cross on a chain and red wine stain” and says he’s “more a backroad than a front pew.”

“I’m a rise a little hell/She’s heaven on earth/The grace to my grit and the rain on my dirt/I’m a little down home, cold beer/She’s a little up there, down here,” Jake sings in the chorus.

“I’m really proud of this song and this video,” Jake writes on Instagram. “The thought was about how so many guys out there just like us, have these angels watching over us. Sometimes, I’m not so sure we even deserve it, but this is our tribute to those [angels] on [earth]. Hope you enjoy!”

“Up There” is Jake’s new official single to country radio following his latest #1 hit, “Best Thing Since Backroads,” which was released as the lead single off his forthcoming album.

Next month, the Florida native will launch the second leg of his Up There Down Here Tour on October 13 at the Rosemont Theatre in Illinois.

Kentucky school shooter involved in 1997 incident sentenced to spend life in prison

On Monday, the Kentucky Parole Board ruled that 39-year-old Michael Carneal, the man convicted in the 1997 school shooting that took the life of three students, should remain in prison for the rest of his life. The unanimous ruling from the seven-member board means that Carneal will never be eligible for parole consideration again.

Carneal was 14 years old when he injured five people along with killing three in the shooting at Heath High School in Paducah, Kentucky. He testified to two members of the board last week that he still “heard voices” in his head, similar to the ones that led to him opening fire on the high school on Dec. 1, 1997.  However at last week’s hearing, Carneal said while he knew right from wrong when he committed the shootings, he blamed his mental health condition for his actions.

Carneal had served nearly 25 years before his last parole hearing. The living victims of the shooting, including one who was paralyzed, testified in front of the board last week as well. Parole Board Chair Ladeidra Jones told Carneal that due to the seriousness of the crime” and because lives were taken, “it is the decision of the parole board that you will serve out your sentence.”

Russian President Vladimir Putin grants American whistleblower Edward Snowden citizenship in Russia

Edward Snowden, the former contractor with the National Security Agency who made headlines when he leaked highly classified information in 2013, has been granted Russian citizenship under a decree signed by President Vladimir Putin. Snowden was one of many foreigners granted Russian citizenship in the decree, filed on a Russian government portal. He is listed as the 53rd person in the document. Snowden and his wife had applied for Russian citizenship in November 2020, a month after he was granted permanent residency.

The 39-year-old Snowden leaked an estimated 1.7 million intelligence files used in reporting by journalists and faces espionage charges along with 30 years in prison in the United States if he were to return. However, his U.S. passport has been revoked.

After the leak, Snowden first fled from the United States to Hong Kong briefly; and has been living in Russia since June 2013, where he reportedly has worked for a Russian IT company. He has maintained a relatively low profile in Russia over the years, but routinely posts on his Twitter account.

Ashley McBryde honors late songwriter Dennis Linde with 'Lindeville' album

Ashley McBryde has opened up about the creation process behind her new album, Ashley McBryde Presents: Lindeville, and how the fictional town and characters came to life while she and six writers were on a retreat.

Brothers Osborne collaborated on the album, with John Osborne serving as co-producer while T.J. Osborne sings with Ashley on “Play Ball.” Brandy Clark, Caylee Hammack and Pillbox Patti appear as vocalists and various members of the town of Lindeville.

The town gets its name from the late songwriter Dennis Linde, the man behind a range of hits, including “Burning Love” by Elvis PresleyThe Chicks‘ “Goodbye Earl” and “John Deere Green” by Joe Diffie. “John Deere Green” is centered around the characters Billy Bob and Charlene, with Billy Bob writing his love for Charlene on a water tower.

Ashley and team aimed to emulate Linde’s clever writing style through the 13-track album, which boasts songs like “Jesus Jenny,” “Brenda Put Your Bra On,” “Forkem Family Funeral Home” and more.

“We did it kind of differently. We had characters and then invented … a town, so we thought it would be the best way to tip our hats and honor Dennis Linde’s genius, but be like, ‘Here’s our characters and I would love it if where they lived was named Lindeville,'” Ashley describes. “[Linde] drew a map of a town that was completely fictional, developed characters that live inside that town. The water tower literally says on it, ‘Billy Bob and Charlene’ on the map. Then we wrote songs based on these places and individuals that he was creating in this town.”

Fans can visit Lindeville when the album drops Friday.
