Jason Aldean gets his own “Behind the Music” mini documentary: “Really proud of this”

Jason Aldean is among the artists getting their own episodes in a revitalized run of the classic Behind the Music documentary series.

The franchise got a reboot on Paramount+ in 2021 and this week a number of new episodes dropped. Jennifer Lopez, Boy George and Remy Ma are the spotlight artists in other new episodes.

Jason's episode traces his origins as a small-town boy who broke into the country genre with a unique and — at the time — controversial dose of rock influence in his music. Eventually, his vision earned him musical superstardom and influenced the sound of modern country music today.

“Man I watched every episode of this show back in the day,” Jason wrote on Twitter after his episode came out. “I never dreamed I would have an episode about my life and career one day. Really proud of this and hope u guys will check it out and lemme know what u think.”

Jason's Behind the Music episode is available to stream on Paramount+.

Dolly Parton is “praying and thinking about” which causes should benefit from her $100 million Jeff Bezos grant

Philanthropy has long been important to Dolly Parton, and now, she'll be able to do a whole lot more of it. The country legend was awarded $100 million from Amazon founder Jeff Bezos this month to allocate to charities of her choosing.

But Dolly's in no rush to decide how that money will be used. “I just am still praying and thinking about where it all can go,” she explains to Entertainment Tonight.

The country legend is no stranger to sending large sums of money to good causes — she donated $1 million to Vanderbilt University's Medical Center to help fund a COVID-19 vaccine, and her own Dollywood Foundation has a wide-reaching impact on children's education and poverty relief — but even Dolly was a little stunned when she first learned that she'd been awarded the $100 million Bezos Courage and Civility Award.

“Well, I couldn't believe it. First of all, I cried on the phone with Jeff Bezos,” she recounts. “And when I found out he was really serious about it, I just cried because of the gift and how much good I will really be able to do with that.”

As for the specifics, Dolly says she needs “to think about it and …let my heart lead me on these things,” adding that she already knows one thing: The money will provide much-needed support to someone in need.

“I can guarantee you, I'll be able to do a lot of good for a lot of needy causes and a lot of needy good people,” she says.

ABC's 'CMA Country Christmas' shares the song list for this year's special

Before the 2023 CMA Country Christmas special airs next week, the show has revealed its festive song list.

Rising vocal duo The War and Treaty will perform “O Holy Night,” Scotty McCreery will perform “Holly Jolly Christmas” and show host Carly Pearce will deliver a two-pack of holiday favorites: “Man With the Bag” and “Here Comes Santa Claus.”

Carly's also partnering with bluegrass star Molly Tuttle for a medley of Christmas classics with a bluegrass twist. “It's Beginning to Look Like Christmas,” Let it Snow,” “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen,” “Winter Wonderland” and “Christmas Time's A-Comin'” are all in the mix.

A couple of performers are focusing on the soulful side of the holiday. Maren Morris will sing “Merry Christmas, Baby,” an R&B favorite that has been recorded by the likes of Otis Redding, Elvis Presley, Ike and Tina Turner, B.B. King and more. Meanwhile, Old Dominion is performing “What Christmas Means to Me,” a song that many artists have cut, including Stevie Wonder.

Original holiday material gets its due on CMA Country Christmas, too. Dan + Shay are performing two original numbers — “Holiday Party” and “Officially Christmas” — and Steven Curtis Chapman will treat viewers to his “Precious Promise.”

CMA Country Christmas airs on Thursday, December 8 at 9 p.m. ET on ABC.

“She”: Jelly Roll shares a new song to raise awareness + support for the addiction crisis

Fast-rising hitmaker Jelly Roll returns today, November 30, with “she,” a new song that puts a spotlight on the addiction crisis and the people impacted by it.

“she' is about the struggle of addiction. she' is talking about the elephant in the room and addressing head on the heroin and fentanyl epidemic that is sweeping the nation; the pharmaceutical pill problem that is sweeping the nation, and has been for a long time,” Jelly explains in a statement.

“And I feel like it's the artist's responsibility to speak for those who sometimes can't always speak for themselves,” he adds.

The “Son of a Sinner” star, who's currently gearing up for a hometown show at Nashville's Bridgestone Arena, partnered with nonprofit Shatterproof for the release of this song, supporting the organization's mission to raise awareness of the addiction crisis and help provide treatment and recovery resources for those facing addiction.

Jelly may be a relative newcomer to the country scene, but giving back has been important to him from the get-go. Earlier this month, he pledged $250,000 to open a recording studio inside Davidson County Juvenile Detention Center, the same Nashville facility where Jelly served a criminal sentence in his youth.

On top of that, he also funded five $10,000 scholarships to graduating seniors in Davidson County and contributed to Impact Youth Outreach's seasonal holiday food resources and toy drive.

Oath Keepers founder and one member found guilty of seditious conspiracy in Jan. 6 case

On Tuesday, a federal jury in Washington found Oath Keepers founder Stewart Rhodes and Kelly Meggs, another member of the far-right organization, guilty of seditious conspiracy in connection with the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol. Jurors reached their decision on the third day of deliberations, following a trial in federal court in Washington that spanned weeks.

Three other members of the group who were on trial alongside Rhodes and Meggs — Jessica Watkins, Kenneth Harrelson and Thomas Caldwell — were found not guilty on the seditious conspiracy charge. All five defendants were found guilty of obstruction of an official proceeding and aiding and abetting for their actions on Jan. 6.

The three defendants who physically went inside the Capitol on Jan. 6 — Meggs, Harrelson, and Watkins — were found guilty of conspiracy to prevent an officer from discharging their official duties. Rhodes and Caldwell were on Capitol grounds that day but did not go inside the building.

Rhodes’ lawyer said Tuesday that he plans to appeal that conviction; the seditious conspiracy charge carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison.

Virginia Walmart shooting survivor files $50M lawsuit for ignoring warning signs from shooter

A Walmart employee who survived the mass shooting at a store in Virginia last week has filed a $50 million lawsuit against the company for allegedly continuing to employ the shooter “who had known propensities for violence, threats and strange behavior.” The lawsuit was filed Tuesday in Chesapeake Circuit Court by the employee and plaintiff, Donya Prioleau, who alleges that she has experienced post-traumatic stress disorder, including physical and emotional distress, from witnessing the shooting in the breakroom on November 22.

The shooter, store supervisor Andre Bing, fatally shot six employees and wounded several others before he died of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot.  The lawsuit states that Bing “had a personal vendetta against several Walmart employees and kept a ‘kill list’ of potential targets prior to the shooting.” Additionally, Prioleau had submitted a formal complaint on a Walmart Global Ethics Statement Form, indicating that Bing had “bizarrely and inappropriately commented on Ms. Prioleau’s age” and complaining that Bing had harassed her for “being poor and being short,” according to the lawsuit.

Prioleau alleges in the lawsuit that “Despite Mr. Bing’s long-standing pattern of disturbing and threatening behavior, Walmart knew or should have known about Mr. Bing’s disturbing and threatening behavior, but failed to terminate Mr. Bing, restrict his access to common areas, conduct a thorough background investigation, or subject him to a mental health examination.”

For Luke Combs, life's “completely different” since his son Tex arrived

Just three weeks ago, Luke Combs picked up his second consecutive Entertainer of the Year trophy from the Country Music Association.

But even that pales in comparison to the new title he took on June 19 when his son Tex arrived: father. Luke admits it’s been quite a life change.

“Oh, man, it’s — I would say 180 [degrees], but it’s like 360, you know,” he tells ABC Audio. “It’s completely different.”

“I still have to do all this [music business] stuff,” he adds. “And then like the rest of my time — the small amount of free time that I did have is just squandered. It is completely gone.”

While dad’s on track to claim his fifteenth consecutive number one with “Going, Going, Gone,” he thinks his son’s latest accomplishment is just as impressive.

“He started holding his own bottle, which was pretty sweet,” Luke brags. “I mean, he’s only four months old, so I feel like he’s kinda ahead of the curve there. But yeah, he started doing that like this past week, so that was exciting.”

Tex has since hit the five-month mark, meaning he’ll celebrate half a year right before Santa visits for the first time.

Dolly Parton shares plans to open museum and ‘Dolly Center’ complex in Nashville

In an interview with The Tennessean, Dolly Parton revealed plans to open ‘Dolly Center’ in Downtown Nashville within the next few years.  Parton said her future plans in Music City will potentially include a Dolly Parton museum, restaurant/bar and grill, and more, but admits “right now though, I’ve got so many things going. I can do without that for the moment. But someday I will have a business here.”

Parton already has the Chasing Rainbows Museum inside of her Dollywood theme park, but said that she wants to open another closer to home: “I’m going to have a museum here [in Nashville] pretty soon,” she said, before sharing that she hopes to open the museum within the next couple of years. Parton added: “We have the museum at Dollywood, of course, but I would love to have something here since this is really my home.” Parton said the museum might be part of a larger complex, “like a ‘Dolly Center’ or something that includes the museum.” While it’s unclear what would be on display at the museum, it’s possible that it will highlight Parton’s legendary career similar to her Chasing Rainbows Museum, which features some of Parton’s unique memorabilia.

Parton will next appear in Dolly Parton’s Mountain Magic Christmas, featuring appearances by Parton, Jimmy Fallon, Willie Nelson, Miley Cyrus, Billy Ray Cyrus, Jimmie Allen, Zach Williams and airing on Thursday, Dec. 1 at 8/7c on NBC.  In addition, Parton and her goddaughter Miley Cyrus are set to co-host the upcoming NBC New Year’s Eve special dubbed Miley’s New Year’s Eve Party, airing live on NBC from Miami on Saturday, Dec. 31 from 10:30 p.m.-12:30 a.m. ET and also streaming live on Peacock.

‘Brett Young: 5 Tour 3 2 1’ to launch Spring 2023

Brett Young will hit the road this spring for “Brett Young: 5 Tour 3 2 1”, with Ashley Cooke and Morgan Evans serving as support. The 17-date trek kicks off on March 30, 2023 in Columbus, Ohio, heading across the U.S. before wrapping-up at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles on May 20, 2023.

Young also plans to release a new version of his song “You Ain’t Here To Kiss Me,” which he wrote alongside Tiffany Goss and Matt Alderman, on Friday (Dec. 2). Says Young: “I can be a very emotional songwriter and, for some reason, the sad, reflective songs, often come naturally for me. The song is a true story about a situation my now wife and I had many years back–it just describes the feeling of missing someone and seeing everyone else around you in happy relationships. Dann Huff has been wanting to cut a new version of it for a while so we thought the timing was right to give it a bit of a new life around this coming New Year.”

Tickets for “Brett Young: 5 Tour 3 2 1” will go on sale this Friday (Dec. 2) at 10 a.m. CT. For more information, click here.
