Dolly Parton reveals Paul McCartney, Stevie Nicks and more will appear on her rock album

During a recent interview on ABC’s The View, Dolly Parton revealed the famous names that are set to appear on her upcoming rock album, which features a mix of rock cover songs and originals. Among the guests on Dolly’s rock album are Paul McCartney, Stevie Nicks, Steven Tyler, Steve Perry, and John Fogerty. Titled Rock Star, the album will see Dolly cover classic songs by the likes of Prince, The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, and Lynyrd Skynyrd. It is set for release later this year.

Said Dolly: “If I’m going to be in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, I’m going to have to do something to earn it, so I’m doing a rock and roll album and I have a lot of the rock stars I met that night be on it with me.”  She also confirmed she’s recorded a version of The Rolling Stones’ “Satisfaction” and is hoping frontman Mick Jagger will sing on the track with her: “Well, I’m doin’ my best to try to get him on, but I did his song anyway. I think Pink and Brandi Carlile are gonna be singing on that particular song with me. But we got great artists like Paul McCartney is singin’ with me… Stevie Nicks, we just finished our song last night. We got John Fogerty. We got Steve Perry and Steven Tyler. We got a lot of great artists — iconic singers that are going to be on with us so I’m really looking forward to it. I’m going to have Cher on. I’ve been gettin’ a song for her. We’ve been tryin’ to get the right thing together, but that’s goin’ to be a big thrill, I think.”

Last month, Parton revealed that she’s also hoping Elton John will appear on the project and has recorded a cover of Led Zeppelin’s “Stairway to Heaven” with hopes that Robert Plant and Jimmy Page will join her.

Billie Eilish files restraining order against home invader

A masked intruder entered Billie Eilish’s family home in Los Angeles earlier this month. While he was arrested and no one was home when he broke in, the singer has now filed a restraining order against the suspect, 39-year-old Christopher Anderson.

The 21-year-old Eilish said that Anderson entered her house “unannounced and uninvited after apparently professing his love for me and expressing that he really wanted to meet me” in a statement with the filing. Eilish continued in her statement: “Regrettably, this is not the first time an unknown individual has attempted to contact my family and me specifically by stalking us outside my family’s home and by making professions of love to and threats of violence against me. However, each such occasion, including the present one, causes me substantial anxiety, fear, and emotional distress over my personal safety and that of my father, mother, and brother. I worry that some day one of these individuals will do something violent or extremely disturbing to me or one of my family members.”

According to the restraining order, this wasn’t the first time the suspect showed up to the residence; police had been called on five separate occasions. Eilish’s father, Patrick O’Connell, shared that Anderson had approached the home several times in December.  He once rang the intercom and asking to use the restroom, and on December 28 (just a week before the break in) he slid a cell phone under the gate. He returned the next day with a white flower and handwritten letter that “professed his love for my daughter Billie, claimed that at some point in time Billie had been watching Mr. Anderson and writing songs about Mr. Anderson, and that Mr. Anderson really wanted to meet Billie.” In addition to protecting herself, the restraining order would also protect Billie’s father, mother Maggie May Baird, and brother Finneas O’Connell.

Texan Miranda Lambert will turn her attention to Vegas in 2023

Miranda Lambert doesn’t plan to tour much while she’s doing her Vegas residency, she reveals in a feature in the February/March issue of Garden & Gun.

The native of the Lone Star State pays tribute to her birthplace in the magazine’s Best of Texas issue, revealing that New Braunfels’ Gruene Hall is her favorite place to play close to home.

“You've gotta go see a show there and then float the Guadalupe River,” she adds. “I've been floating that river my whole life. I just went on a girls' trip float last August, in fact.”

“While you are down there, you've gotta get chicken-fried steak at the Gristmill,” she recommends.

Of course, Miranda now makes her home on a farm on the outskirts of Nashville, but this year she’ll be spending plenty of time in Sin City. Her Velvet Rodeo residency at Planet Hollywood resumes in March, with two dozen shows continuing through December. Her only outside dates at this point are three festivals in June.

Thomas Rhett's new single is another tribute to wife Lauren

Thomas Rhett‘s calling on the “Angels” for his new single.

Now retitled “Angels Don’t Always Have Wings,” the track originally appeared on his Where We Started album as simply “Angels.”

“This is my favorite song from the album,” TR reveals. “I wrote it from a personal perspective, but I think it will resonate with a lot of people.”

“It's about how none of us are perfect, and how lucky we are to have those people in our lives who show up and love us despite our flaws,” he adds. “I often look at my wife and think she's truly an angel, for the love and grace she shows me every single day.”

“Angels” is the follow-up to “Half of Me” with Riley Green, which last year became TR’s 20th #1 in less than 10 years.

Next month, Thomas takes his Bring the Bar to You Tour to Canada with Jordan Davis and Kameron Marlowe, before launching his Home Team Tour 23 this summer with Cole Swindell and Nate Smith.

Dolly rubs elbows with '80s icons and rocks a football jersey in new “Gonna Be You” video

Dolly Parton, Cyndi Lauper, Gloria Estefan and Belinda Carlisle are wearing their game day best in the new video for “Gonna Be You,” from the upcoming movie 80 for Brady.

The film, based on a true story, stars Jane Fonda, Rita Moreno, Sally Field and Lily Tomlin as four best friends who take a trip to the Super Bowl in 2017 to see their hero Tom Brady play. It hits theaters on February 3.

Songwriter Diane Warren recruited Gloria, Cyndi, Belinda, Dolly and Blondie‘s Debbie Harry to sing on “Gonna Be You.” Debbie doesn’t appear in the video, but the other women do, all rocking blinged-out Tom Brady football jerseys with their names on the back and singing the song, intercut with footage of the film.

Dolly says the project was a joy, adding, “This is very exciting to me. I love feeling like I’m still part of something great and being with those gals that we know are great was a thrill.”

Cyndi adds, “This was such a great project to be part of because it was nice to be able to join forces with my pals for the song. Each of these women mean a lot to me. Friendships between women are important and I think Diane's lyrics captured that. It was really touching. You don't often see female ‘buddy movies’ so this was fun.”

“What an honor to sing a song by my favorite songwriter with four other women who I have been a fan of for years! It doesn’t get much better than this,” says Belinda in a statement.

And Gloria says, “What an honor to share this incredible experience with women that I have admired for decades!”

Treasury to begin ‘extraordinary measures’ to avoid default as U.S. hits debt limit

Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen notified congressional leaders in a letter on Thursday that she is implementing “extraordinary measures” to meet U.S. financial obligations — this after the United States hit the national debt limit of $31.4 trillion, which requires Congress to increase it in order to meet existing national financial obligations.

Yellen wrote to House Speaker Kevin McCarthy: “I respectfully urge Congress to act promptly to protect the full faith and credit of the United States.” According to Yellen, it’s not clear exactly how long government cash and extraordinary measures can work to fulfill the nation’s economic obligations but said it’s unlikely resources will be exhausted “before early June.”

House Republicans have indicated they will demand deep spending cuts before agreeing to raise the debt ceiling; the Biden administration wants the debt ceiling raised without conditions. Yellen warned congressional leadership that failure to raise the limit in time would cause irreparable harm to the U.S. economy. Despite that warning, House Speaker Kevin McCarthy told reporters this week raising the limit without cutting spending is off the table. White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said during a press briefing that Republicans “are threatening to kill millions of jobs and 401(k) plans by trying to hold the debt limit hostage unless they can, again, cut Social Security, cut Medicare, cut Medicaid,” adding that President Biden “will not allow Republicans to take the economy hostage or make working Americans pay the price for their schemes to benefit the wealthiest Americans and also special interests.”
