Ricky Martin and husband Jwan Yosef divorcing after 6 years of marriage

Ricky Martin and his husband, Jwan Yosef, are divorcing after six years of marriage. The couple shared the news in a joint Instagram post on July 6: “For some time, we have considered transforming our relationship, and it is after careful consideration that we have decided to end our marriage with love, respect, and dignity for our children preserving and honoring what we have experienced as a couple all of these wonderful years. Our greatest desire now is to continue having a healthy family dynamic and a relationship centered on our genuine friendship as we continue the joint upbringing of our children. As always, we thank you for all the love and support we received throughout our marriage. We are united in nurturing this new chapter of our lives.” Martin also posted the statement in Spanish on his social media platforms.

Martin, 51, and Yosef, 38, first shared the news with People in a joint statement. Martin and Yosef share two kids: daughter Lucia, 5, and son Renn, 4. Martin also has 15-year-old twins Matteo and Valentino, and People noted he’ll “continue to raise [them] as a single parent.” The couple first met via Instagram in 2015 before making their relationship official at a 2016 gala for amfAR, The Foundation for AIDS Research. They connected IRL for the first time six months later in London, and were engaged in 2016. Marti and Yosef were married in 2018, and welcomed their children together soon after.

Born in Syria and raised in Sweden, Yosef is an accomplished painter and artist who just opened a new studio in Los Angeles. Martin was recently cast in the upcoming Apple TV+ series “Palm Royale”, featuring Kristen Wiig, Laura Dern, Carol Burnett and Allison Janney. In October, the singer is set to kick off The Trilogy Tour across North America with co-headliners Pitbull and Enrique Iglesias.

Fall Out Boy release updated version of Billy Joel’s “We Didn’t Start The Fire”

Fall Out Boy have shared an updated version of Billy Joel’s classic hit, “We Didn’t Start the Fire.” Joel’s version mentioned events that took place from 1949 through 1989; Fall Out Boy picked up where Joel left off, starting with 1989 through 2023. However, Fall Out Boy did not run through the timeline in chronological order, like Joel’s version does.

Fall Out Boy said of the updated song: “I thought about this song a lot when I was younger. All these important people and events- some that disappeared into the sands of time- others that changed the world forever. So much has happened in the span of the last 34 years- we felt like a little system update might be fun. Hope you like our take on it…”

In celebration of the release, the band has dropped a limited edition 7-inch vinyl version of the track that includes an etching on side B. The vinyl, limited to $5,000 copies, can be purchased at the band’s webstore.

Tracy Chapman reacts to the success of Luke Combs' version of “Fast Car”

Tracy Chapman's debut single, “Fast Car,” has become an unlikely hit on the country charts thanks to Luke Combs‘ cover of the tune, and Chapman can't quite believe it.

“I never expected to find myself on the country charts, but I'm honored to be there,” Chapman tells Billboard. “I'm happy for Luke and his success and grateful that new fans have found and embraced Fast Car.'”

Luke’s version of the song has also become a big pop hit. Chapman's version, released 35 years ago in 1988, peaked at #6 on the Billboard Hot 100. Combs' version has surpassed that, reaching #2. It is also #1 on Billboard's Country Airplay chart, which according to Rolling Stone, makes Chapman the first Black woman to have a sole songwriting credit on a country #1.

“Fast Car” is featured on Luke’s latest album, Gettin’ Old.

Further testing confirms substance found in White House was cocaine

Law enforcement officials said on Wednesday that lab testing has confirmed that white, powdery substance discovered by the Secret Service at the White House on Sunday was cocaine. Questions remain, however, about how the substance got into the building. The Secret Service is leading an investigation of how the substance got into the West Wing, which will include consulting cameras and entrance logs.

According to a U.S. Secret Service official, the cocaine was found Sunday evening in a small, zippered bag in part of the West Wing (which houses the Oval Office and offices of some of the president’s top aides and support staff).  The discovery caused a brief shutdown of the White House after it was found near an entrance where visitors taking tours are directed to leave their phones in small cubbies, officials said. An initial test of the substance conducted by the District of Columbia Fire Department soon after it was found indicated it was cocaine, and the formal lab test confirmed that result on Tuesday night.

Mr. Biden was not at the White House over the weekend. He, first lady Dr. Jill Biden and members of their family departed for Camp David on Friday. They returned to the White House on Tuesday for an event with the National Education Association and Fourth of July festivities. White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said President Biden has been briefed on the incident and noted the area where the cocaine was discovered is “heavily traveled” by visitors, stating: “when it comes to visitors to the West Wing, they come for many reasons, obviously we do have West Wing tours that occur here on campus,” adding tours took place Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
