Nashville Notes: New songs from Greylan James, Randy Travis, Kat Luna & more

Greylan James has dropped a life-inspired new song, “Wait Til You Have Kids.” “I’ve been told ‘wait til you have kids’ more times than I can count. Any time I’ve expressed being tired or worn out from playing shows and being on the road, my friends always have said ‘wait til you have kids,'” shares Greylan. “I’ve also watched my parents go through the challenges of having kids, saving every nickel through the recession, making sacrifices to get me to Nashville and helping my brother get through college. I was excited to take this phrase that my parents and my friends have said to me time and time again and explore the specific ways I’ve seen their worlds change because of having kids.”

Kat Luna, formerly of the now-defunct duo Kat & Alex, has dropped her autobiographical track, “Happiest I’ve Ever Been.”feel so grateful to be where am. and it's crazy to say that I'm the happiest I've ever been. Over the past couple of years I've been through some of my lowest points, but I've learned so much about myself and what truly matters. It's all been worth it to get to where am today,” says Kat.

Randy Travis has released “Horses in Heaven” amidst a tumultuous week for many, including the D.C. plane crash and the sudden passing of Warner Chappell Nashville president/CEO Ben Vaughn. “‘Horses in Heaven’ feels like a timely reminder of God’s love and mercy and I hope it brings some comfort to those of us hurting through these tragedies,” Randy shares in a statement on Instagram. “God Bless Ben, the victims of [Wednesday’s] crash and all who are feeling the heaviness of this moment.”

The audio from Mickey Guyton‘s performance of “The Star-Spangled Banner” from the 2022 Super Bowl has hit digital platforms. “I still get chills thinking about that moment,” shares Mickey.

Hank Williams Jr. inspired Chris Janson's 'Stay Rowdy'

Chris Janson took a little inspiration from Hank Williams Jr. when he co-wrote “Stay Rowdy.”

“Simply put, I wanted to write something that reminded me of Hank Jr in the 80's [sic], Country Music that makes me want to have a good time,” Chris says of his new song and Hank, whose hit “All My Rowdy Friends (Have Settled Down)” dropped in 1981.

“Played ‘Stay Rowdy’ live the first time, and the crowd went nuts. It became an instant staple in the show,” he shares. “Stay Rowdy, my friends.”

Arriving with “Stay Rowdy” on Friday is its accompanying music video, which – you guessed it – has Chris having a rowdy time with his friends. The video opens with Chris smoking a cigar and playing his guitar before the camera pans to him and his band letting their hair down on his tour bus.

Chris is currently on the road for his headlining shows while gearing up to open for Kid Rock in March. For his full tour schedule, visit chrisjanson.com.

'I Dare You' to listen to Rascal Flatts + Jonas Brothers' new song

Rascal Flatts and Jonas Brothers have landed on country radio and digital platforms with their new single, “I Dare You.”

Written by Nick JonasDan + Shay‘s Shay Mooney and others, the upbeat number implores a heartbroken person to give love a second chance and knock down the walls around their heart – to love someone again.

“Oh yeah, I know you’re careful/ ‘Cause you been broken before/ You’re almost there/ I know you wanna cross that line,” goes the pre-chorus, before the harmony-rich chorus kicks in.

“So I dare you/ I dare you to love somebody like me/ Yeah, I dare you/ I dare you to let me be your everything/ Oh, I dare you/ I dare you to run and, baby, don’t look back/ I know it scares you ’cause no one prepared you/ But, baby, I dare you/ Baby, I dare you,” Rascal Flatts’ Gary LeVox sings.

“We're so excited to kick off this next chapter of Rascal Flatts with this single, working with Kevin, Joe and Nick is such a blast, they're class acts,” says the group’s Jay DeMarcus.

Hear the title track of Morgan Wallen's upcoming album

Morgan Wallen‘s dropped “I’m the Problem,” the title track of his forthcoming album.

Morgan wrote the song with ERNEST and others, and it chronicles a guy’s declaration that he’s “the problem” in his past relationship, albeit with a sting of bitterness.

“I guess I’m the problem/ And you’re Ms. ‘Never Do No Wrong’/ If I’m so awful/ Then why’d you stick around this long?/ And if it’s the whiskey/ Then why you keep on pullin’ it off the shelf?/ You hate that when you look at me, you halfway see yourself/ And it got me thinkin’/ If I’m the problem, well, you might be the reason,” Morgan sings in the moody chorus.

A release date for I’m The Problem hasn’t been announced yet as Morgan’s “still working” on it, which he shared on Instagram.

Morgan’s 20-date I’m The Problem Tour kicks off June 20 in Houston, Texas. Tickets are on sale now at morganwallen.com

Post Malone, Shane Gillis (and Huey Lewis) show the power of beer in Super Bowl Bud Light ad

Post Malone‘s Super Bowl ad – his fourth big game spot with Bud Light – is now available for your viewing pleasure.

The spot, set to Huey Lewis & The News‘ #1 hit “The Power of Love,” is called “Big Men on Cul-De-Sac,” and features Posty and comedian Shane Gillis reviving a neighbor’s lame backyard barbecue in the cul-de-sac where they all live.

Posty and Shane crash through the fence with the world’s longest cooler of Bud Light, then invite the rest of the cul-de-sac’s residents to join the party by shooting cans of Bud Light over to them with a leaf blower. Gillis then grills up some meat on his smoker, which doubles as a lawnmower, and Peyton Manning drops by and declares, “This cul-de-sac’s poppin’!”

In a Q&A with Posty shared on Billboard, the chart-topping star say he’s “very passionate about the product” – that’d be Bud Light – and adds that his must-haves for a backyard party are a socks-and-sandals combo and, of course, “a cold Bud Light.”

As previously reported, Posty will headline YouTube's Super Bowl Tailgate Concert in New Orleans on Feb. 9, ahead of the Chiefs taking on the Eagles.

President Trump confirms there were no survivors in deadly midair collision in Washington DC

President Donald Trump confirmed during a press conference on Thursday that there were no survivors after the deadly midair collision in Washington DC on Wednesday.

American Eagle Flight 5342 from Wichita, Kansas – which was carrying 60 passengers and four crew members – collided midair with a U.S. Army Black Hawk helicopter (carrying three people) when the chopper entered the airliner’s landing path as it approached Ronald Reagan National Airport about 9 p.m. local time Wednesday. Among the passengers on board Flight 5342 include figure skaters, coaches and family members who had been at a camp in Wichita; additionally, Russian state media confirmed that Russian figure skaters and coaches were also on board.

Washington, D.C. Fire and EMS Chief John Donnelly said during a press conference Thursday there were no survivors in the crash: Donnelly said several local and state agencies responded in addition to Washington first responders and the Department of Defense, working in harsh conditions, heavy wind, ice on the water. Donnelly said responders will continue to work to find all the bodies from the crash:

Newly-appointed Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said: “We have located the two aircrafts. The fuselage of the American Airlines plane was inverted. It’s been located in three different sections. It’s in about waist-deep water,” adding that the government will not rest until it gets answers for the families and for the flying public about what caused an airliner to collide with a military helicopter.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said in video statement Thursday the military helicopter was on an annual proficiency training flight: “it was a fairly experienced crew that was doing the required annual night evaluation. They did have night vision goggles. We anticipate that the investigation will quickly be able to determine whether the aircraft was in the corridor at the right altitude at the time of the incident .. It’s a tragedy, a horrible loss of life for those 64 souls on that civilian airliner and of course the three soldiers in that Blackhawk. They’re in our prayers. We are actively investigating to find out what happened and why.”

In a briefing from the White House, President Trump said the FAA, the NTSB and the U.S. military will be carrying out a systematic and comprehensive investigation, and expressed condolences for the victims: “I speak to you this morning in an hour of anguish for a nation…Sadly there are no survivors. This was a dark and excruciating night in our nation’s capital and in our nation’s history and a tragedy of terrible proportions. As one nation we grieve for every precious soul that has been taken from us so suddenly … our hearts are shattered. In moments like this the differences between Americans fade to nothing compared to the bonds of affection and loyalty that unite us all, both as Americans and even as nations. We are one family and today we are all heartbroken. We’re all searching for answers.”

Trump later said that the crash was a ‘tragedy that didn’t have to happen,’ and heavily criticism of diversity in the FAA and attacked the Biden and Obama administrations for what he claimed were bad administrative decisions at the FAA and DOT.

American Airlines CEO Robert Isom said in a statement: “I want to express my sincere condolences for the accident that happened at DCA last night. We’re absolutely heartbroken for the family and loved ones of the passengers and crew members and also for those that were on the military aircraft. Our focus right now is to doing everything that we can to support all of those involved and also the PSA Airlines team. This is devastating. We are all hurting incredibly.”

Nate Smith says 'Fix What You Didn't Break' is a song 'America needs to hear'

If you’ve heard Nate Smith‘s songs like “Fix What You Didn’t Break,” you can probably hear some country, pop and rock influences. That’s because the California native grew up listening to more than just country and loving genres outside of country.

“I love 2000s pop-rock music. I love alternative like Goo Goo Dolls [and] Lifehouse. I’ve always loved that kind of stuff, too, so it’s definitely in my influence,” Nate tells ABC Audio. “But [‘Fix What You Didn’t Break’] has that kind of vibe. I mean, it has a little ‘Here Without You.’ It has a little ‘I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing.’ It has that, like, anthemic kind of vibe to it.”

Beyond the sound, Nate firmly believes in the message of unconditional love in “Fix What You Didn’t Break” and believes it’s one Americans need to hear right now.

“It’s kind of like looking at it [and] going, ‘Hey, like, we all have stuff in our lives that we bring into a relationship,’ you know? But if somebody can just give you the ability to breathe through it and [go], ‘Look, I know you’re struggling with whatever you’re struggling with, man, and I love you no matter what and I’m here when you’re ready to talk.’ … that’s fixing what you didn’t break,” explains Nate.

“It’s like connecting with somebody in that way where you’re like, ‘I unconditionally love you no matter what you do, and I’m going to love you through it and I’m here for you,'” he says. “That’s what the song’s about, and I think America needs to hear that.”

“Fix What You Didn’t Break” is Nate’s current single and it’s now in the top 35 of the country charts.
