Peek into the first night of Kenny Chesney's I Go Back 2023 Tour

Kenny Chesney kicked off the first night of his I Go Back 2023 Tour at John Paul Jones Arena in Charlottesville, Virginia, on Thursday, March 23. The venue, though one of the smallest he’s played in years, was still filled with Kenny’s signature stadium-sized energy.

Kenny had the crowd singing along to hits such as “‘Til It's Gone,” “Reality,” “The Good Stuff,” “Living In Fast Forward” and “All The Pretty Girls.”

The last time Kenny played at John Paul Jones Arena was during an opening slot he had in 2006.

“It was a crazy thing,” Kenny shared backstage prior to the concert. “We pulled up and all of the Statler Brothers were there, and they watched the entire show from the third row. Charlottesville is that kind of place: the very best of who they are come out and just live in the music. I can't believe we've been away this long.”

Fellow Knoxville native Kelsea Ballerini also joined Kenny onstage to harmonize on “Wild Child” and perform their CMA Award-winning duet, “half of my hometown.”

“I wanted to bring all the power and all of the passion that we have at those stadium shows,” Chesney said after the show. “I want every single person who's in the room to know how much we love them, to feel as good as they've ever felt, and to go home hoarse from the cheering and singing. Charlottesville, Virginia, sure made the opening night feel like the biggest stadiums.”

Get a peek into 'My Kind of Country' with Mickey Guyton

Mickey Guyton joined CBS Mornings Thursday, March 23, to share more about Apple TV+'s new country talent competition, My Kind of Country.

The series, which is executive produced by Reese Witherspoon and Kacey Musgraves, will feature contestants from India, South Africa and Mexico, with Mickey, Jimmie Allen and Orville Peck serving as mentors and scouts for the next big country star.

“Country music is universal and there are so many people that love country music outside of America that don’t necessarily have access to it, and this is giving them that opportunity,” Mickey said. “It’s really holding the door open and giving listeners that love country music another version of it.”

Additionally, the “Black Like Me” singer shared what she and her fellow mentors will be looking for.

“We’re definitely looking for tones. We’re looking for the stories,” Mickey noted. “You know, country music is stories about life, and we want to hear that within the artists. We want to hear, you know, a little twang in their voice like what you hear in country music. That’s stuff that we look for, for sure.”

My Kind of Country ?premieres Friday, March 24, on Apple TV+.

It's a special one to us and we hope it is to you too. Big thanks to Mason Allen, Nicki Fletcher, and GEMINI for knocking this out of the park!”

Never experienced a Carly Pearce concert? Fret not, she's got a live album for you

If you’ve never had the chance to attend a Carly Pearce concert, don’t worry, she’s got you covered.

On Friday, March 24, Carly will drop her anticipated live album, 29: Written In Stone (Live From Music City). The collection will feature live versions of tracks from her monumental 2021 record, 29: Written In Stone, including “What He Didn’t Do,” “Never Wanted To Be That Girl” and “Dear Miss Loretta.”

Because these songs are so special to Carly, she wanted her live performances recorded on an LP and made available to fans who haven’t been to a Carly Pearce show yet.

“It was just a record that’s so much about the storytelling, and so much about those live experiences, that I wanted to bring it finally to life in a way that if fans never came to see me live, they could have that special moment in time. And it’s just a way for me to again say thank you because this album completely changed my whole world,” shares Carly.

Of course, Carly is also a fan of live albums.

“I love live records,” she says. “Music just comes to life in a live way. A lot of my favorite records were live records.”
