Trump Administration Will Not Consider Renaming Army Bases Named After Confederate Leaders

President Donald Trump said his administration “will not even consider” renaming military bases originally named after Confederate leaders, a day after the Army said top military leaders were “open” to the discussion. In a statement on Monday, an Army spokesperson said Defense Secretary Mark Esper and Army Secretary Ryan McCarthy were “open to a bi-partisan discussion” about renaming the bases.

However, the president tweeted on Wednesday, “It has been suggested that we should rename as many as 10 of our Legendary Military Bases, such as Fort Bragg in North Carolina, Fort Hood in Texas, Fort Benning in Georgia, etc. These Monumental and very Powerful Bases have become part of a Great American Heritage, and a history of Winning, Victory, and Freedom.”

“The United States of America trained and deployed our HEROES on these Hallowed Grounds, and won two World Wars,” Trump continued. “Therefore, my Administration will not even consider the renaming of these Magnificent and Fabled Military Installations. Our history as the Greatest Nation in the World will not be tampered with. Respect our Military!”

There are 10 Army installations, including Fort Lee and Fort A.P. Hill in Virginia, named after Confederate leaders from the Civil War.

Carly Pearce Dedicates New Song To Late Producer Busbee

Carly Pearce recently performed at the Grand Ole Opry and used the opportunity to debut a new song, dedicated to her late friend and producer Busbee, who died in September. The track, “Show Me Around,” is a hopeful message looking forward to the day of reunion with a departed loved one.

Carly shared. “Busbee has three little girls and a beautiful wife, and he painted this picture of Heaven that was so beautiful to me, that Busbee had a map and he was getting the lay of the land and figuring out all of the places, just like Disneyland, that he wanted to show his family and show all of us. If anybody’s ever lost anybody, this felt like a really cool way to look at our loved ones that are going to meet us in Heaven and show us around.”

Busbee died in September 2019 at age 43 after being diagnosed with glioblastoma eight weeks before his death.  Pearce wrote on Instagram after the producer’s passing, “You gave my music a place in this world. I’ll cherish the 2 albums, songs, talks, laughs & memories we shared over the years. My heart is broken, but the legacy of your talents and your heart will live on in all of the artists and people you touched. I love you, Busbee.”

Bono Shares “Beautiful Day” Cover Featuring Camila Cabello, Khalid, Noah Cyrus And More

U2 frontman Bono shared a new version of his band’s “Beautiful Day” to support Black Lives Matter.

Bono said in a new video that was delivered as part of YouTube’s “Class of 2020” series: “As an Irishman, I’ve always believed that America is not just a country, it’s an idea, it’s a dream that belongs to the whole world. Now I know in recent times the world has been reminded that America is an idea that doesn’t even belong to a lot of Americans, and that for many Black Americans, Lady Liberty’s torch is far from a beacon of hope, it’s often a flashlight in the face.”

The new version of “Beautiful Day” was produced by Billie Eilish’s brother FINNEAS and features vocals from Coldplay’s Chris Martin, Camila Cabello, Ty Dolla $ign, Khalid, Leon Bridges, Noah Cyrus and Ben Platt, among others.

Lollapalooza 2020 has officially been cancelled. The Chicago-based festival was scheduled to happen from 7/30-8/2.

Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot announced today that, in addition to Lolla, Taste of Chicago, the Air and Water Show, the Chicago Jazz Festival, and many more planned outdoor activities would also not be happening this year.

“We wish we could bring Lollapalooza to Grant Park again this year, but we understand why things can’t move forward as planned,” the festival wrote in a statement. Lizzo Fights Back Against Body Shaming In TikTok Video

Lizzo fought back against body shamers on TikTok.  Lizzo posted a video montage of herself exercising, trying on lingerie and showing off her curves in a swimsuit while offering advice to her haters:

“So I’ve been working out consistently for the last five years,” she said, “and it may come as a surprise to some of y’all that I’m not working out to have your ideal body type. I’m working out to have my ideal body type. And you know what type that is? None of your f–king business. Because I am beautiful, I am strong, I do my job and I stay on my job.”  Lizzo added: “So next time you want to come to somebody and judge them — whether they drink kale smoothies or eat McDonalds or work out or not work out — how ’bout you look at your own f–king self and worry about your own goddamn body. Because health is not just determined on what you look like on the outside. Health is also what happens on the inside, and a lot of y’all need to do a f–king cleanse for your insides. Namaste, have a great day.”

Human Remains Found At Home Of The Stepfather Of Missing Idaho Children

The husband of Lori Vallow, who was charged with desertion in the disappearance of two of her children last year, has been taken into custody Tuesday. Assistant Rexburg Police Chief Gary Hagen said that Chad Daybell was being questioned after a search warrant was served on his home. He said that detectives had recovered unidentified human remains in their investigation of the missing children. Hagen did not provide additional details about the warrant, which was sealed. Media was not allowed near the home during the search.

Police confirmed that the search warrant is related to the disappearance of JJ Vallow and Tylee Ryan, who were 7 and 17 years old respectively when they went missing in September.  Vallow and Daybell have refused to cooperate with the investigation into the missing children that began in November. Police have said Vallow either knows the location of her children or knows what happened to them. After Vallow and her husband were found in Hawaii, she was arrested in February and extradited to Idaho on charges of desertion and nonsupport of dependent children. She is being held on a $1 million bond.

Vallow is also being investigated for murder, attempted murder and conspiracy in the death of her husband’s former wife. Vallow’s fourth husband, Charles Vallow, also died last year. He was shot to death in July by Vallow’s brother, Alex Cox, during a confrontation.

NYPD Officer Arrested After Video Shows Him Pushing Female Protester

An NYPD officer who was caught on video violently pushing a protester to the ground was charged on Tuesday with several criminal charges, including assault. He is the first NYPD officer to be charged for his conduct during the city’s ongoing wave of protests for police reform.

According to the Brooklyn district attorney’s office, 28-year-old Vincent D’Andraia, who has been in the NYPD for five years, is charged with misdemeanor assault, criminal mischief, harassment and menacing. The officer was suspended without pay after videos posted on Twitter showed him shoving a woman at a Brooklyn protest on May 29.

Videos appeared to show D’Andraia knocking over Dounya Zayer, a 20-year-old protester, at a demonstration outside the Barclays Center. Zayer said that the officer threw her cellphone and pushed her, even though she was already backing up. Zayer said she suffered concussions and seizures after her fall. She posted videos from her hospital bed saying that she was never aggressive to the officer.
