Miranda Lambert is inducted into the National Cowgirl Hall Of Fame

Country superstar Miranda Lambert has been inducted into the National Cowgirl Hall of Fame. Lambert joins a class of women who embody the adventurous, self-reliant spirit of the old American frontier. The National Cowgirl Hall of Fame is meant to honor and celebrate women “whose lives exemplify the courage, resilience and independence that helped shape the West, and fosters an appreciation” for those ideals. Miranda Lambert was being honored for her fundraising and pet-adoption efforts through her non-profit, MuttNation, and she’s joined by fellow inductees Pop Chalee, Lari Dee Guy, Lavonna “Shorty” Koger and Kathryn Kusner are the other women recognized this year, along with Patsy Montana Award recipient Christina Voros and Sergeant Reckless Award recipient Lucca K458.

Lambert returned to her home state with her husband, Brendan McLoughlin, for the ceremony and posted on social media about the honor, writing in part:  “Tuesday October 26 2021 is a day I will never forget as long as I live. That is the day I got inducted into the National Cowgirl Hall Of Fame in Ft. Worth Texas,” she wrote. “It is truly one of the greatest honors of my life. I am beyond grateful to join such an amazing group of women. I’m still processing this and will be for a long time.”

Jessica Simpson celebrates four years of sobriety with candid photo on social media

Jessica Simpson shared a candid photo of herself from four years ago on social media depicting her first day without alcohol, and detailed in an honest, emotional post the way she felt that day as she began her journey to sobriety.

The 41-year-old Simpson wrote on Instagram: “This person in the early morning of Nov 1, 2017 is an unrecognizable version of myself. I had so much self-discovery to unlock and explore. I knew in this very moment I would allow myself to take back my light, show victory over my internal battle of self-respect, and brave this world with piercing clarity. Personally, to do this I needed to stop drinking alcohol because it kept my mind and heart circling in the same direction and quite honestly I was exhausted. I wanted to feel the pain so I could carry it like a badge of honor. I wanted to live as a leader does and break cycles to advance forward- never looking back with regret and remorse over any choice I have made and would make for the rest of my time here within this beautiful world.”  Simpson added, “There is so much stigma around the word alcoholism or the label of an alcoholic. The real work that needed to be done in my life was to actually accept failure, pain, brokenness, and self-sabotage. The drinking wasn’t the issue. I was. I didn’t love myself. I didn’t respect my own power. Today I do. I have made nice with the fears and I have accepted the parts of my life that are just sad. I own my personal power with soulful courage. I am wildly honest and comfortably open. I am free.”

In January 2020, Simpson opened up about her alcoholism in her memoir Open Book, saying she hit “rock bottom”on Halloween 2017 — a day where she recounts “zoning out” from drinking and was unable to dress her kids.  She wrote in her memoir: “I was terrified of letting them see me in that shape. I am ashamed to say that I don’t know who got them into their costumes that night.”  The next day she confided in her friends, saying: “I need to stop. Something’s got to stop. And if it’s alcohol that’s doing this and making things worse, then I quit.”

Scotty McCreery’s “Five More Minutes” inspires a new Hallmark Christmas film

Scotty McCreery’s hit single from 2017, “Five More Minutes,” will lend its name to a Hallmark Christmas movie. “Five More Minutes” comes off the track list of McCreery’s 2018 album, Seasons Change, and the song was his first-ever No. 1 hit single

The film, which was inspired by the song, will air on Hallmark’s Movies & Mysteries channel on Nov. 20 at 10PM ET. “Five More Minutes” isn’t a Christmas song, but contains themes such as gratitude and the importance of quality time with family. McCreery, who co-wrote the song with Frank Rogers and Monty Criswell, drew inspiration for the song from his relationship with his grandfather. At the time he tweeted to his followers, “I think I just wrote my favorite song I’ve ever written.”

McCreery will not appear in the Hallmark movie Five More Minutes but will be listed as an executive producer on the project. Though it’s inspired by his song, the new movie isn’t a direct adaption; rather, it “centers around a woman who discovers her late grandfather’s journal during the holiday season, and learns new and surprising things about his life.”
