Dan + Shay deliver spiritual vibes with live acoustic “I Should Probably Go to Bed”

ABC/Image Group LASuperstar duo Dan + Shay are showing off a new side of their current single, “I Should Probably Go to Bed,” with a live, stripped-down version of the song.

The pair recorded this version of “I Should Probably Go to Bed” at Ocean Way Studio in Nashville, and the venue’s high ceilings, stunning acoustics and church-like stained glass windows provide the perfect backdrop for the new take. Alongside the release itself, Dan + Shay dropped a video of them recording the song at Ocean Way.

The simplicity of the song’s new version stands in stark contrast to its initial music video, a dizzying clip that finds the duo struggling to stay stable in the winding, circuitous halls of a mansion that starts to defy gravity.

Though Dan + Shay have had to pause their 2020 touring plans amid the COVID-19 pandemic, they’re already counting down the days until they can get back out on the road again: Last month, they announced new dates for The (Arena) Tour in 2021.  In the meantime, they’ve also been announced as performers for the upcoming 2020 ACM Awards, which will take place on September 16.

“I Should Probably Go to Bed” follows “10,000 Hours,” the country duo’s 2019 hit with pop superstar Justin Bieber. If they’re following a traditional album release format, “I Should Probably Go to Bed” is likely the second single from the next Dan + Shay album.

President Trump Signs Executive Order To Extend Ban On Offshore Drilling Off Coast Of Florida

On Tuesday, President Trump signed an executive order to extend and expand a ban on oil drilling off the coast of Florida. Trump said he would extend the existing moratorium on offshore oil exploration in the Gulf of Mexico off Florida’s west coast through 2032 and expand it to include the Atlantic coasts of Florida, Georgia and South Carolina.

The decision marks a reversal for Trump, who in 2018 announced a five-year drilling plan calling for 19 lease sales offshore Alaska, seven in the Pacific Region, 12 in the Gulf of Mexico and nine in the Atlantic. Florida’s coastline was removed from consideration after then-U.S. Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke met with former Florida Gov. Rick Scott — who’s now serving in the U.S. Senate — in Tallahassee.

Current Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis opposed the offshore drilling plan as part of his campaign platform and on Tuesday hailed the order as “another great win” for Florida’s environment.

Here's your one chance, Fancy: Reba reveals if she's ever encountered “mystery woman” Bobbie Gentry

ABC/Image Group LA; Ron Galella/Ron Galella Collection via Getty ImagesThe legend behind classics like “Ode to Billie Joe” and “Fancy” is so famously reclusive, the BBC even produced a documentary called Whatever Happened to Bobbie Gentryseveral years ago.

In fact, she takes her privacy so seriously, even Reba McEntire’s never encountered her, despite taking her tale of a woman “born just plain white trash” to new levels of fame.

“I’ve never met her, I’ve never talked to her,” Reba reveals. “I’ve talked to so many people who have gotten to work with her and know her and do stay in communication with her.”

She continues: “I would say, ‘Hey, would you tell her that I’d really like to meet her sometime or talk to her or email or text or smoke signals or anything? I don’t care. I’d just really like to communicate with her.'”

Still, Reba’s requests have gone unanswered.

“I’d love to know, where did she get the idea of ‘Fancy’ and what was the thinking behind it?” Reba explains. “When she released it, then I fell in love with ‘Ode to Billie Joe’ and the albums, her duet album with Glen Campbell. I’m just a huge fan.”

“I think she’s a genius,” Reba adds. “Great songwriter, beautiful woman, great singer…  She’s a mystery woman.”

While she admires Gentry’s ability to step out of the spotlight, it’s not something Reba could ever do.

“I’m a people person and I like to do what I do,” she reflects. “Dolly and I talked about it several times. I said, ‘Dolly, are you gonna retire?'”

“She said, ‘And do what? I’ve got the best job in the world. What would I do?'” Reba recalls. “… I’m with her a hundred percent.”

The 30th Anniversary Edition of Reba’s Rumor Has It album — featuring three different versions of “Fancy” — comes out Friday.

Rochester N.Y. Police Chief, Deputy Suddenly Step Dow Following Protests Over Daniel Prude Death

Rochester, N.Y.’s police chief, La’Ron Singletary, announced his resignation Tuesday after days of protesting in response to the police killing of Daniel Prude. Mayor Lovely Warren also informed the Rochester City Council that in addition to Singletary, the entire command staff announced it would be vacating their roles today. She noted that none of the police leaders were asked to resign.

Singletary became chief in April 2019, and is leaving the position after 20 years with the department. The 40-year-old has come under fire in the past week after footage was released of Rochester police officers holding an unarmed man face-down to the ground in March, causing him to die a week later. The footage prompted outrage from family members and activists who said the police department should learn how to better handle mental health episodes. Others accused the officers of racial bias and excessive force.

Rochester Mayor Lovely Warren also criticized Singletary for his handling of the case, and some community members called for his resignation. In a statement, Singletary said the comments “are an attempt to destroy my character and integrity,” and added, “The members of the Rochester Police Department and the Greater Rochester Community know my reputation and know what I stand for.  The mischaracterization and the politicization of the actions that I took after being informed of Mr. Prude’s death is not based on facts, and is not what I stand for.”
