Runaway June star Natalie Stovall tested positive for the coronavirus over the holidays. She and her husband, musician James Bavendam, both battled COVID-19 over Christmas.
Stovall said, “We’ve had a full-on COVID Christmas round these parts. I tested positive a few weeks ago and hunkered down with lots of grocery deliveries… So thankful it was a mild case. Just achy, exhausted and so strange not to taste or smell! But I have been cleared by Vanderbilt (medics) and am immune/not contagious for at least 90 days. Guess that’s the silver lining here. I know so many people hurting and affected by this awful disease. James and I are definitely counting our blessings. Stay safe and healthy out there, y’all. Here’s to getting back to normalcy.”
Stovall is the second member of the Runaway June trio get COVID-19. Her bandmate, Jennifer Wayne, had coronavirus last April. On a positive note, Runaway June ended 2020 with some good news as Wayne and bandmate Naomi Cook both became engaged over the holidays.

Miley Cyrus‘ upcoming Metallica covers album will feature an all-star lineup of collaborators, including Elton John, Red Hot Chili Peppers‘ Chad Smith and more.
Prior to the release of her new album Plastic Hearts, Cyrus revealed that Metallica are one of the bands who inspired the sound on her new rock album. For years, Cyrus has openly expressed her admiration for Metallica — in 2019, she performed the Temple of the Dog classic “Say Hello 2 Heaven” at Chris Cornell’s tribute concert, prompting Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich to give Cyrus a shout-out on Instagram. Later that year, Cyrus performed at Glastonbury and threw in a cover of Metallica’s “Nothing Else Matters,” linked here.
This week, Cyrus said, “I did a Metallica cover of ‘Nothing Else Matters’ featuring Elton John on piano,” she says. “I’ve got Yo-Yo Ma, Chad Smith; so many all-stars. I’m so excited about this collaboration. I’m really stoked. I love when ingredients don’t quite fit.”
David McClister Parker McCollum will be giving his first-ever performance at the Grand Ole Opry next month.

He also rounded out the year with the October release of his six-song EP Hollywood Gold, which includes a song co-written by none other than Chris Stapleton.
Parker has kept his career momentum going as he rolls into 2021, releasing his latest song, “To Be Loved by You,” at midnight on January 1.
This week, the singer announced that he’s hitting another major career milestone: Parker will make his Grand Ole Opry debut on February 6. To purchase your tickets to watch him give his landmark performance on the hallowed Nashville stage, head over to the Opry’s website.
ABC/Image Group LABy the looks of his social media presence, Kane Brown’s planning on making 2021 a big year for new music. This week, the singer offered a teaser of a new song, possibly titled “Nothin’ Bout Loving You I’d Change.”
In a video post, the singer dances and lip-syncs along to a snippet of the track, a big smile on his face. In his Instagram stories, Kane took that teaser one step further, posting a longer clip of the unreleased song.
“There you were, walkin’ in / Perfect strangers when we met / Turned to lovers as the time moved on / We were wild, we were crazy / We were reckless, we were babies / Now we’re right here raising one of our own,” Kane sings in the new track.
It seems as if the song will tell a fairly autobiographical story, as a love song dedicated to Kane’s real-life wife, Katelyn,a nd their young daughter, Kingsley.
In addition to giving fans a taste of the unreleased tune, Kane hinted that there might be more to come.
“Blow this up [and] I’ll preview another one tomorrow,” he wrote. “We ready for 2021.”
ABC/Image Group LAMorgan Wallen’s highly anticipated sophomore project, Dangerous: The Double Album, will arrive Friday. But before it does, Morgan’s got one more new song to reveal.
The singer will premiere “Sand in My Boots” off his new project during an exclusive live performance tonight on YouTube Originals’ Released series. In addition to debuting the song, he’ll offer viewers a behind-the-scenes peek into his life as one of country’s most in-demand rising stars.
“I’m gonna tell you what I can’t live without when I hit the road, I’m gonna tell you who I’ve been listening to, and who you need to start listening to,” Morgan explains in a trailer for his “Released” performance.
Morgan’s Dangerous has been much-buzzed-about ever since he announced the project, and not only because it contains a whopping 30 songs plus two Target-exclusive bonus tracks. Earlier this month, after a few Walmart stores made the album available ahead of its scheduled release date, the singer took matters into his own hands, deciding to “leak” some of the songs himself.
On TikTok, he released versions of several of the tracks on the album, including “Warning,” “Red Necks, Red Letters, Red Dirt” and the title track.
You can watch Morgan’s Released performance tonight on his YouTube channel at 11:45 PM ET.
ABCCarly Pearce has been waiting nearly her whole life to hold a CMA trophy with her name on it, so when the big moment finally arrived, it was pretty emotional.
The singer won a CMA Award for Musical Event of the Year at the 2020 CMAs back in November, courtesy of her duet with Lee Brice on “I Hope You’re Happy Now.” When her trophy arrived, Carly made sure to share the special moment on social media, posting two images of her new award.
“My team surprised me yesterday with this gem,” Carly wrote. “I have dreamt of winning one of these since I was 5 years old, so there were plenty of tears when I held my very own with my name on it in my hands. Thank you country fans & thank you CMA.”
Carly’s kept busy since her CMAs win: She’s continued to share snippets of new music, ushering in 2021 with the live debut of a new song called “Didn’t Do” during a socially distanced acoustic round at Nashville’s Listening Room. Meanwhile, her new single, “Next Girl,” is currently on the Billboard Country Airplay chart’s top 40.

John Russell/CMASometimes, even superstars need a little help putting things into perspective. For rock legend Bruce Springsteen, that perspective once came in the form of a pep talk from Tim McGraw.
After the 2003 Grammy Awards, Bruce was feeling a little low after losing the Album of the Year Trophy (for his project The Rising) to Norah Jones’ Come Away With Me. Then, he happened to run into Tim backstage.
The pair revisited the memory during a recent episode of Tim’s show, Beyond the Influence Radio, where Bruce was a special guest.
“I always remember one thing you said to me. It was the night after we lost the Grammy for The Rising and I came into the dressing room and everybody was kind of down in the mouth,” Bruce recalls in the interview. “And [Tim] said, ‘Hey, what’s the matter, man? You’re Bruce Springsteen.’”
Tim’s always had a knack for prioritizing gratitude and keeping perspective. That’s also been the message behind several of the songs on his 2020 Here on Earth album, such as “Gravy” and “I Called Mama.”
“I always remember that, man,” Bruce goes on to say of the incident. “That took me up, it was kind of a great moment. And I’ve always remembered that when I think of you.”
ABC/Chris HolloLadyA are kicking off 2021 on a high note, as their “Champagne Night” officially crowns the Billboard Country Airplay chart for the week dated January 9.
That milestone comes in the song’s 37th week on the chart, making it the longest climb Lady A has ever made to the top spot. It surpasses “What If I Never Get Over You,” which took 35 weeks to get to the top of the chart, and marks the trio’s 11th hit to ever top Billboard’s Country Airplay chart.
“Champagne Night” is also a unique song for the trio in that it began during an April 2020 episode of NBC’s televised songwriting competition Songland. Lady A were the guest artists in one installment of the show, as songwriting hopefuls competed to have their song selected by the band to record. They ultimately chose “Champagne Night,” which was originally titled “I’ll Drink to That,” by songwriter Madeline Merlo.
“This has been a special song for us for so many reasons,” the band’s Hillary Scott tells Billboard. “We loved it so much that it became a single: The first-ever radio single to be released from Songland. So for the fans to love it as much as we do and for it now to be at No. 1, it feels like the best way to celebrate the first week of the new year.”
“Champagne Night” comes off Lady A’s 2019 studio album, Ocean. That project also includes “What If I Never Get Over You.”
