It explores Bob Dylan‘s famous recordings in Nashville in the 1960s, as we;; as the impact of Johnny Cash‘s TV show, which exposed country music to a wider audience. It also highlights the history of the session musicians known as the “Nashville Cats,” which included Charlie Daniels, Jerry Reed, Charlie McCoy and more who were featured on recordings by Neil Young, Leonard Cohen and Dylan.

Travis Dennis pays homage to early 2000s country with “ABBY” video

Travis Denning is taking it back to the early 2000s with the humorous video for his latest single, “ABBY.”

Throughout the video, Travis tips his hat to the artists that came before him including Kenny Chesney,Rascal Flatts, Toby Keith and Montgomery Gentry

“I swear, the early 2000s were perfect for country music videos. They were cheesy, but they were fun and they’re so nostalgic now. I wish I could do a video like that,” Travis says.

His self-fulfilling prophecy comes to life in the video that honors the classic moves as seen in early 2000s country music videos, with Travis dramatically singing in the rain and playing guitar in an open field in a brilliant sunset.

The singer also dons a black cowboy hat, akin to Tim McGraw‘s, and throws in some signature hip swivels for good measure, along with plenty of dramatic, deadpan expressions.

“ABBY' has always been a song that typically gets a good laugh when people first hear the lyrics. So, when it came to a concept for the music video, it just made sense for it to be something that matched that sentiment of lightheartedness and not taking yourself too seriously,” he explains.

“ABBY” is the follow up single to Travis’ #1 hit, “After a Few.” It’s featured on his 2020 EP, Beer’s Better Cold.

Garth Brooks is taking a walk down memory lane as he prepares for his upcoming appearance at the 2021 Cheyenne Frontier Days.

It was announced last week that Garth is part of the all-star lineup for the 125th annual Cheyenne Frontier Days in Wyoming in July.

The last time he performed at the event was during its 100th anniversary in 1996, when late 90s country star Chris LeDoux joined him to perform their hit duet, “Whatcha Gonna Do with a Cowboy.”

The performance came at the height of Garth’s career at the time, following the release of his blockbuster 1990 album, No Fences.

“Six years from the first record, everything was going out way, and when I came out in Cheyenne, that place went to a level like oh my gosh!' and I'm sittin' up there struttin' around. I'm having a great time singing and playing, and Chris LeDoux walks out onstage,” Garth recalls.  He adds that Chris was there as a potential fill-in for him, because Garth was waiting on the birth of his youngest daughter, Allie.

“It went to a level that I had never seen before and never seen since,” Garth recalls of the audience reaction. “They loved him. They worshipped him. They should.”

Chris passed away from cancer in 2005.

Frontier Days takes places July 23-31. Garth will open the festival on July 23, with Blake Shelton,Maren Morris, Eric Church and Kane Brown among the many other performers.

Blake Shelton may be a Hollywood star thanks to The Voice, but he’s still connected to his Midwestern roots.

The singer turned to Instagram over the weekend to reveal that he caught a monstrous paddlefish while on a fishing trip in his native Oklahoma. Blake shared a photo of himself from the boat, proudly showing off the massive prize fish.

“I'll bet some of y'all have never heard of a paddlefish. We got them here in my home state! Y'all come to Oklahoma where the outdoors are always open!” he writes.

Fans were impressed, with comments ranging from “that is one big fish” and “now thats a catch,” to another declaring, “that fish makes 6'5 245 Blake Shelton look small.”

Blake and his fiancée, Gwen Stefani, have spent much of their time during the pandemic on their property in Oklahoma. The couple has tentative plans to marry this summer.

More eruptions of La Soufrière volcano anticipated on Caribbean island of St. Vincent

Conditions worsened at a volcano on the eastern Caribbean island of St. Vincent on Sunday, as residents experienced loud rumbling, lightning and heavy ashfall. The eruption of La Soufrière forced many residents to evacuate their homes, though some remained in place. The rumbling was heard in the capital of Kingstown, about 20 miles (32 kilometers) south.

About 16,000 people have fled, however there have been no reports of anyone being killed or injured. Ralph Gonsalves, the prime minister of the 32 islands that make up the country of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, has said people should remain calm and remain vigilant in protecting themselves from the coronavirus. He said officials were trying to figure out the best way to collect and dispose of the ash, which covered an airport runway near Kingstown, and fell as far away as Barbados, about 120 miles (190 kilometers) to the east.

About 3,200 people took refuge at 78 government-run shelters, and four empty cruise ships stood ready to take other evacuees to nearby islands, with a group of more than 130 already taken to St. Lucia.  Nearby nations, including Antigua and Grenada, also offered to take in evacuees. Those staying at the shelters were tested for COVID-19, with anyone testing positive being taken to an isolation center.
