Girl in sixth grade shoots and injures 3 at Idaho middle school before teacher disarms her

Authorities said that a sixth-grade girl brought a gun to her Idaho middle school on Thursday, shooting and injuring two students and a custodian before being disarmed by a teacher.

Police were called around 9:15 a.m. to Rigby Middle School in the small city of Rigby, about 95 miles southwest of Yellowstone National Park, after students and staffers heard gunfire.  The three victims were shot in their limbs and expected to survive. Jefferson County Sheriff Steve Anderson said at a news conference that the girl pulled a handgun from her backpack and fired multiple rounds inside and outside the school before a female teacher disarmed the girl and held her until law enforcement arrived and took her into custody. Authorities say they’re investigating the motive for the attack and where the girl got the gun. “We don’t have a lot of details at this time of ‘why’ — that is being investigated,” Anderson said. “We’re following all leads.”

Both of the students who were shot were being treated at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. They were listed in fair condition and could be released as early as Friday.  The adult was treated and released for a bullet wound that went through an extremity.

Idaho Gov. Brad Little said in a statement, “I am praying for the lives and safety of those involved in today’s tragic events. Thank you to our law enforcement agencies and school leaders for their efforts in responding to the incident.”

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis signs restrictive new voting law

On Thursday, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis signed a controversial new law that Republicans say increases election security; however opponents say it’s just another bill designed to make it harder for millions of voters to participate in the democratic process.

Florida’s Legislature passed the bill last week, and DeSantis signed the bill during a political rally in West Palm Beach. “Florida took action this legislative session to increase transparency and strengthen the security of our elections,” DeSantis said in a statement, adding, “Floridians can rest assured that our state will remain a leader in ballot integrity. Elections should be free and fair and these changes will ensure this continues to be the case in the Sunshine State.”

Under the new law, Florida residents must now produce a driver’s license number, state ID number or part of their Social Security number to receive a mail ballot. It also limits ballot drop boxes to early voting days and hours unless it’s at the supervisor’s office and manned while in use.

“I Go Back”: “Half of My Hometown” means big things to Kelsea Ballerini

In 2004, Kenny Chesney was riding high with the retrospective “I Go Back,” the latest in his string of hits that would make him a superstar.

Little did he know, another native of East Tennessee, Kelsea Ballerini, was paying attention.

“It’s so crazy” she tells ABC Audio, “like I remember driving around listening to ‘I Go Back’ when that was his single and thinking it was the craziest thing that he was singing a song about Knoxville. And I was living in Knoxville.”

“And I just thought it was so crazy that someone that came from the town that I was living in was doing that, something so big with their life,” she continues.

Now, Kelsea herself is doing big things with her own life, as the chart-topping female vocalist has her own song about where she grew up, “Half of My Hometown,” complete with vocals from none other than Mr. Chesney himself.

Garth Brooths' Salt Lake City stadium show sells 50,000 tickets within half an hour of going on sale

Tickets for Garth Brooks' recently-announced Salt Lake City stadium show went on sale Thursday morning at 10AM MT, and just under half an hour later, 50,000 seats at the event had been claimed.

Announced in late April, the show takes place on July 17 at the city's Rice-Eccles Stadium, which has an audience capacity of approximately 51,444, according to the University of Utah Athletics' official website.

As of early Thursday afternoon, fans hoping to attend the show were still able to join a queue to access tickets. However, with 50,000 tickets already spoken for, the show is likely nearly sold out.

One week before he heads to Salt Lake City, Garth has also got a Las Vegas stadium show on the books. During a recent installment of his Facebook Live series, Inside Studio G, the singer gushed about how excited he is to get back to performing live in front of fans.

“I'm just so ready to play!” he exclaimed. “I'm just ready to get out there and scream and yell and run around like a stupid kid and just have fun.”
