How the COVID-19 pandemic impacted Scotty McCreery's approach on ?'Same Truck'

Scotty McCreery had most of his new album, Same Truck, completed before the COVID-19 pandemic altered life in 2020. But the forced downtime allowed him to see the project from a new vantage point.

In an interview with Peoplethe American Idol winner shares that the album previously consisted of songs penned by other songwriters. But being at home allowed him to tap into his own well of songwriting, with 10 of the 12 songs co-written by him, including current single, “You Time.”

“I had a lot of outside cuts actually the first time around. But then the world shut down and I had nothing but time to sit there and pick up a guitar and strum ideas and write songs,” he explains. “Faith is something I lean on daily. I’ve definitely had to lean on it a lot in the last year and a half, with the craziness of the world.”

“You Time,” inspired by Scotty’s wife, Gabi,” is inching its way toward the #1 spot on the Billboard Country Airplay chart.

Keith Urban shares “Crimson Blue” from 'Nine Perfect Strangers'

Keith Urban is contributing to wife Nicole Kidman‘s show, Nine Perfect Strangers, in the form of a song.

In the finale episode of the hit Hulu series, fans can hear Keith’s new song, “Crimson Blue.” A departure from his country sound, the serene track features a mellow acoustic guitar and choral voices as Keith sings, “We’re returning to the stars that we’re made of/We all find our own way/In the end we’ll see we never were alone.”

To celebrate the song’s release, the superstar singer has created his own “Crimson Blue” concoction, a spoof on the drug-filled smoothies made at Tranquillum, the health and wellness center run by Kidman’s character, Masha.

In a video, Keith shows us how to make the recipe, which includes blue milk “from a very sad cow,” he quips, along with blueberries, a “micro amount” of blue cheese, and bananas. “These are special bananas from Tranquillum. It’s a wonderful resort we heard about,” he jokes.

Nicole makes a subtle appearance, lurking behind her husband in a white dress, adding in a few drops of a red liquid to the mix for a crimson touch. “Relax,” she tells him.

The final episode of Nine Perfect Strangers streams on Hulu on Wednesday.

Sam Hunt on his songwriting process: “I'm always nostalgic”

Sam Hunt leaned into nostalgia when writing his new single, “23.”

The song finds Sam reflecting on a past love, wondering where she is now and remembering her as a “Memphis queen” with “long blonde hair.” “No matter where I go/No matter what I do/I’ll never be 23 with anyone but you,” he sings.

“I’m always nostalgic. I’m always thinking about the past,” Sam shares with People“I love that happy, sad feeling in music. I’m really attracted to. It comes out when I’m writing quite a bit.”

The singer-songwriter adds that he rarely writes about people directly in his life, rather pulling inspiration from movies, culture and the world around him.

“When I write songs, I’m really intimidated to write songs about people I’m really directly involved with. My songs tend to be an amalgamation of a lot of different experiences,” he describes. “My songs come through sort of this osmosis that comes from being around people who are going through things.”

“23” is currently in the top 30 on the Billboard Country Airplay chart.

Body found in Bridger-Teton National Forest believed to be missing woman Gabby Petito

Authorities said a body discovered in northern Wyoming is believed to be that of 22-year-old Gabrielle “Gabby” Petito, who disappeared while on a cross-country trek with her boyfriend. The FBI said the body of Petito was found Sunday by law enforcement agents who spent the weekend searching camp sites on the eastern border of Grand Teton National Park. FBI Supervisory Special Agent Charles Jones said the cause of death not yet been determined, and the specifics on where and how the body was found were not disclosed. Jones said investigators were still seeking information from anyone who may have seen Petito or Laundrie around camping sites in the area of Spread Creek, where law enforcement search efforts focused over the weekend.

Boyfiend Brian Laundrie, 23, has been identified as a person of interest in the case. He was last seen Tuesday by family members in Florida, and now the subject of an intense search in a Florida nature preserve. More than 50 law enforcement officers on Sunday started a second day of searching for Laundrie at the more than 24,000-acre (9,712-hectare) Carlton Reserve in Sarasota County, Florida, a wildlife area with more than 100 miles (160 kilometers) of trails, as well as campgrounds.

Petito and Laundrie left in July on a cross-country trek in a converted van to visit national parks in the U.S. West. The couple’s trek in the Ford Transit began from Long Island, and they intended to reach Oregon by the end of October, according to their social media accounts. However, Petito vanished after her last known contact with family in late August from Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming. Laundrie was alone when he drove the van back to his parents’ home in North Port, Florida, on Sept. 1, police said. Petito’s family filed a missing persons report Sept. 11 with police in Suffolk County, New York.
