R. Kelly found guilty on all charges of racketeering in sex trafficking case

R. Kelly was convicted by a federal jury on Monday of racketeering in his sex trafficking trial. Kelly was found guilty of charges including sexual exploitation of a child, bribery, racketeering and sex trafficking involving five victims. He faces a possible sentence of 10 years to life in prison.

Federal prosecutors in the Eastern District of New York successfully proved to a jury of seven men and five women that Kelly was a predator and the head of a criminal enterprise, whose purpose was to lure girls, boys and women to the R&B singer for his sexual gratification. Prosecutors portrayed Kelly as a predator who over a quarter-century subjected his victims to violent physical and sexual abuse, some of which he recorded.

In addition to awaiting sentencing on the case in NY, Kelly will face a second federal trial on charges of child pornography and obstruction of justice in Illinois. Some of those accusations are related to a 2008 child pornography trial in Chicago, in which he was acquitted of all charges. Kelly also faces outstanding criminal charges in both Cook County, Ill., where he was indicted by the state attorney in Feb. 2019 for aggravated criminal sexual abuse involving four victims (three of them minors), and in Minnesota, where Mr. Kelly was charged in Aug. 2019 with engaging in prostitution with a minor.

Sentencing in New York is scheduled for May 4.

Machine Gun Kelly gets booed, fights with fans at Louder Than Life Festival in Kentucky

Following a war of words with Corey Taylor from Slipknot, Machine Gun Kelly was booed throughout his set on Saturday set at the Louder Than Life Festival in Kentucky.  MGK had launched into a tirade at Chicago’s Riot Fest last weekend against Slipknot — who were playing at the same time on a neighboring stage — calling the group “old weird dudes with masks.” It was later revealed that there was animosity between the two over a nixed collaboration between MGK and Slipknot’s Corey Taylor.

However, when MGK took the stage at the festival Louisville, Kentucky festival this past Saturday, the rocker was met with a negative reaction from the crowd.  According to reports and video from the show, every song that Kelly performed was met with boos and middle fingers from the crowd. At one point, Kelly got into verbally with a festival-goer, even threatening him with a Star Wars light saber that was onstage for some reason:“I see you dude, I see you mad as f*ck in your weird f*cking outfit. I’m here for the same sh*t you’re here for, so it’s all good. Clearly, I’m not going nowhere, so just enjoy. You keep f*ckin’ with me, homie? Trained Jedi, b*tch!” When MGK and fans came face-to-face in the photo pit, things got physical — MGK threw a punch at someone before security quickly removed him to deescalate the scene.

Kelly is next scheduled to perform on Sunday at Dover, Delaware’s Firefly Festival.

Shania Twain shouts out Dolly Parton as the “trailblazer” who inspired her

After being shouted out by Taylor Swift for being the artist to inspire her to cross over from country into pop, Shania Twain spread the love by crediting Dolly Parton for being the singer who first inspired her to experiment with her sound.

The ladies both participated in the latest TikTok trend, which uses Lukas Graham‘s 2014 track “Mama Said” to indicate that a mother-like figure has granted permission, literally or metaphorically, to do a certain thing.

For both Taylor and Shania, they felt their idols gave them permission to break the mold after being told “Country Girls Can’t Go Pop.”

“Thank you @taylorswift,” Shania captioned her take. “I appreciate you! Paying this one forward to another trailblazer.”

The video pays homage to Dolly and even includes throwback footage of the two tearing up the stage together.

Parton famously crossed music genres in 1982 by teaming with Kenny Rogers for his hit “Islands in the Stream.”  She also enjoyed enduring crossover success with “9 to 5” and “Two Doors Down.”

The Grammy winner also penned the track “I Will Always Love You,” which Whitney Houston famously covered in 1992 and made a global hit.

Now, it appears that Dolly herself is primed to jump in on the “Mama Said” trend.  After receiving Shania’s shoutout, Parton created her own TikTok account on Sunday. She’s already posted her first video, which shows her prancing into view in her signature high heels and sharing an encouraging note to her followers by telling them, “I believe in you.”

Blake Shelton texted Ariana Grande about a rumor that he's being replaced on 'The Voice'

Blake Shelton has some stiff competition with Ariana Grande now in the coaches’ seat on The Voice, and apparently it’s igniting the rumor mill.

The pop megastar shared a screenshot of a text thread between her and the “God’s Country” singer wherein Blake sent her an article from OK! magazine with the headline, “Producers at ‘The Voice’ May Replace Blake Shelton After Ariana Grande Brings a ‘Fresh’ Energy to the Show.”

“Thanks a lot Ari…Thanks a f*****’ lot,” Blake retorts, while Ariana responds with a simple heart emoji to both texts.

The two superstars are in a friendly rivalry on the show. Ariana accumulated the most contestants for her team in the season premiere, with three to her name, while the other coaches have two a piece.

Blake is still the most-winning coach on the long-running show, having claimed victory eight times in the show’s 21 seasons.

The Voice‘s “Blind Auditions” continue tonight and tomorrow, airing on NBC at 8 p.m. ET.

Maren Morris says her next album is “my happiest work”

Maren Morris is bidding a fond farewell to the Girl era as she welcomes in new music.

During an appearance at Pilgrimage Music & Cultural Festival in Franklin, Tennessee, just outside of Nashville on Saturday, Maren revealed that it was her final show before she releases new music. She followed up the claim with a social media post with photos from the stage, writing, “End of an era” with a blue heart.

She bared even more of her heart on her Instagram Stories, citing the past two years since Girl was released, along with the COVID-19 pandemic, as “quite possibly, the most formative years of my existence thus far.”

In addition to growing in her marriage with husband Ryan Hurd and becoming a mother to one-year-old son Hayes, Maren says she also developed a closer relationship with her fans.

“I am ready to rest and recalibrate so I can finally give birth to what I’ve been toiling away at for the last two years. It is my happiest work. I can’t wait to share it,” she reflects, adding, “I love you, I do.”

Following its release in 2019, Girl spawned three singles: the chart-topping title track, crossover smash “The Bones,” and current single “To Hell & Back.”

Maren and Ryan’s first duet, “Chasing After You,” is currently climbing into the top 10 on country radio.
