Carly Pearce changed Kelsea Ballerini's “Diamondback” to make it her own

Carly Pearce kicks off her 15-track 29: Written in Stone album with “Diamondback,” a feisty song that she wrote with Kelsea BalleriniTofer Brown and Shane McAnally. The song was actually Kelsea’s first, with Carly changing parts of it to make it fit her own story.

“I actually was never in the room with Kelsea for this one,” Carly tells Lyric magazine. “Kelsea, Tofer Brown and Shane McAnally had started the song, almost as if Kelsea was playing a character, but the only part of the song that really stayed the same was the post-chorus.”

It’s as easy to imagine Kelsea singing “Diamondback” as Carly, but Carly says the song, about love gone wrong, was more suited for her, after her split from Michael Ray, than Kelsea.

“Honestly, Kelsea just didn't feel like it was for her at that time and so Tofer and Shane sent it over to me,” Carly shares. “The three of us finished it very quickly and it was very easy for me to go there in that song … I picked it for the album opener because that was exactly what happened, it was a fairytale that went wrong.”

Keith Urban still can't cook, even after more than a year at home

Keith Urban can no longer say he doesn’t have time to learn a new skill. The New Zealand-born star spent most of 2020 at home, with lots of time on his hands. Early in the lockdown, Keith and his wife, actress Nicole Kidman, determined to try to each learn something new, although Keith’s didn’t go entirely according to plan.

“I was gonna learn cooking and I said, ‘I can’t cook!'” Keith recalls to People. “I think Nic was gonna learn a language and didn’t. Yeah, we had all sorts of plans that just … no.”

While Keith might not be able to make his own dinner, his wife did improve on her goal, at least a little.

“That’s not true actually, Nic got better at her Italian,” he says.

Keith has a couple more dates for his Las Vegas residency this month. He will wrap up 2021 by performing a series of shows in Australia.

Chris Young embraces his love of sports with a visit to ESPN+

Chris Young‘s first love might be country music, but he also loves sports. The Tennessee native, who’s an avid fan of both the Texas Longhorns and the Dallas Cowboys, will join Stephen A. Smith on ESPN+ on Thursday, September 23, at 5:30 PM ET, for Stephen A’s World.

This isn’t the singer’s first foray into discussing sports on ESPN. Earlier this month, Chris joined Jason Fitz and Gary Striewski for their inaugural The Kickoff show.

For Chris, it makes sense that both of his favorite teams aren’t from his home state. “When I was growing up we didn't have the [Tennessee] Titans so it was like just pick a team near you,” Chris previously told Sports Illustrated. “I was always a diehard Cowboys fan.”

Chris just celebrated a #1 hit with “Famous Friends,” a song he recorded with Kane Brown. The tune became the title track of Young’s eighth studio album, which was released in August.

16-year-old boy killed, 2 teens injured in shooting at school bus stop in Louisville, Kentucky

A 16-year-old boy was killed and two other teenagers were injured in a shooting at a school bus stop in Louisville, Kentucky, Wednesday morning. According to the Louisville Metro Police Department, the three teens were waiting for a bus when they were shot in a drive-by at about 6:30 a.m. local time.

One of the injured kids, a 14-year-old boy, is in the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said. The other survivor, a 14-year-old girl, was treated for minor injuries at the scene, police said. Police are looking for the occupants of a grey Jeep they say was in the area at the time of the shooting.

The three victims have not been identified but Jefferson County Public Schools Superintendent Marty Pollio said they are students at Eastern High School. The school bus arrived shortly after the “traumatic” slaying, Pollio said, and a bus stop for middle schoolers was close by.

Dan + Shay's fans take to 'Good Things' in record time on The (Arena) Tour

It’s hard to judge who was more excited for Dan + Shay to finally continue The (Arena) Tour, after being off the road for a year-and-a-half.

Fans snapped up tickets, selling out the first five shows earlier this month, while Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney brought along some Good Things, in the form of a new album.

“This is something we’ve dreamed of our entire lives, you know, being on stage in arenas,” Dan says. “And having a new album of new songs for the fans to sing along with us is the greatest feeling in the entire world.”

“You know, the album came out,” he continues, “and the fans had like 24 hours to learn these songs. And they were screaming as loud as any of our hits, which is like the most surreal thing.”

Good Things features nine new tracks — including their new single, “Steal My Love” — along with the number-one songs “10,000 Hours,” “I Should Probably Go to Bed,” and “Glad You Exist.”

“It validates all the hard work, all the sleepless nights,” Dan says of the fans’ reaction. “I mean, we were working 20 hours a day on this thing. I mean, my hair was falling out, I wasn’t sleeping. It was crazy.”

“But, you know, it’s all worth it when you get to stand on that stage again, and feel that love from the fans,” he adds.

The (Arena) Tour continues on Friday, with stops in Louisville, Kentucky; Milwaukee, Wisconsin; and Minneapolis, Minnesota this weekend.

President Biden says U.S. to donate 500 million COVID-19 vaccine doses globally

The White House said that the Biden administration will purchase 500 million more doses of Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine to donate to low- and middle-income countries, bringing the total number of shots committed by the U.S. for the global supply to 1.1 billion.

President Biden announced the news during a virtual COVID summit on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly on Wednesday. The doses of Pfizer’s vaccine will begin shipping out to countries in January, and Mr. Biden said the 500 million doses will all be shipped by September 2022. The U.S. has so far committed to giving more than 600 million vaccine doses to other nations. Nearly 160 million of these vaccine doses have been shipped abroad thus far.

Mr. Biden has stressed that defeating the COVID-19 pandemic requires a global response, and he called on fellow world leaders at the start of Wednesday’s summit to do more to enhance equitable access to vaccines, expand availability of tests and therapeutics, and take steps to prepare for the next pandemic.

Take a look at Gabby Barrett’s ‘Footprints On The Moon’ music video

Gabby Barrett has released the music video for her latest single “Footprints On The Moon,” which portrays a younger version of Gabby who longs to chase her dreams. The video goes on to show Barrett pursuing her musical aspirations, and also features her husband Cade Foehner, as well as a cameo appearance from their 7-month-old, Baylah May.

Barrett explained in an interview: “I wanted to have a song on the album that was an encouraging song, just something that I would’ve liked to have heard when I was in High School or whatever the case was. It’s just an encouraging song for people to go for their dreams and really reach for the sky because the sky’s the limit. Especially if there’s footprints on the moon, literally, if somebody could walk on the moon which we never thought that would happen, you are able to work hard and achieve some great things here on Earth. So that is just an encouraging song that I wish [that] I had in high school when I was going through harder times, just really grinding it out and nobody really believed in me so I just hope it’s an encouraging song that people will gravitate towards.”

Footprints on the Moon is featured on Barrett’s debut album, ‘Goldmine.’  Take a look at the video: – here.
