Thomas Rhett shares a full-circle work tape of “Country Again” after the song earns him a Grammy nod

Thomas Rhett's “Country Again” started out as a simple acoustic demo — and now it's earned him his fifth Grammy Awards nomination.

The Recording Academy shared its 2022 nominees on Tuesday, and among them was Thomas, who's up for Best Country Song thanks to “Country Again.” To celebrate the milestone, Thomas shared an early version of the tune, recorded right after it was written.

“Here's the first worktape of Country Again.' Me, Ashley Gorley and Zach Crowell wrote this song over Zoom in the dead center of 2020,” Thomas remembers. “This title has been in my phone since May of 2019. This week it was nominated for a [Grammy.] So grateful and blown away.”

The Grammy for Best Country Song is awarded to songwriters, making the work tape — and its connection to Thomas' co-writers — even more special.

If Thomas wins at the 2022 ceremony, it'll be his first-ever Grammy. He's not short on trophies from awards shows in general, though: Most recently, at the 2021 ACMs, he won Male Artist of the Year.

Tim McGraw & Faith Hill heat things up with a steamy love scene in the newest '1883' teaser

A new, extended teaser for the Yellowstone prequel 1883 includes a romantic moment between co-stars and real-life husband and wife Tim McGraw and Faith Hill.

The clip shows Tim and Faith's characters in a bath together, sharing a passionate kiss. Both stars appear elsewhere in the clip, too, along with other co-stars like Sam Elliott, Billy Bob Thornton, Isabel May and LaMonica Garrett.

1883 is described as “a stark retelling of Western expansion” and will follow “the Dutton family as they embark on a journey west through the Great Plains toward the last bastion of untamed America…Montana.”

Tim and Faith play James and Margaret Dutton, the “patriarch and matriarch” of the Dutton family. When it was announced that the superstar couple were going to appear in the series, Tim described the role as a “dream job.”

“[Show creator] Taylor [Sheridan] has found a way of storytelling that brilliantly creates these epic dramas and family sagas with so much depth and creativity,” he noted. “The Duttons are tremendous characters and it's so thrilling to be able to bring them to life.”

Yellowstone follows the current generation of the Dutton family. 1883 premieres December 19 on Paramount+.

Brett Young will reunite with Boyz II Men on the CMT Crossroads stage for his Christmas special

Brett Young dropped his first holiday album, Brett Young & Friends Sing the Christmas Classics, this year, but that's not all he's doing to get into the holiday spirit.

Next month, the singer will bring his collaborations album to the stage for a televised special on CMT, called CMT Crossroads Christmas: Brett Young & Friends. It's a mash-up of a Christmas special and an episode of CMT Crossroads, which pairs artists from different genres together onstage.

That's perfect for Brett's album, which features a number of out-of-genre collaborations with acts like Christian artist Chris Tomlin and pop singer-songwriter Colbie Caillat.

The special also gives Brett a chance to team up with some performers who aren't on his album, including Boyz II Men, the legendary R&B trio who joined Brett for an installment of CMT Crossroads back in 2019.

This time around, Brett and Boyz II Men are performing “This Christmas” — a seasonal classic that actually doesn't appear on the track listing of Brett Young & Friends Sing the Chrismas Classics. The full special will air on CMT on Dec. 8, but ahead of the show, fans can check out a clip of the two acts' rendition of the beloved holiday standard.

Other stars joining Brett for his CMT Christmas special include Gavin DeGraw, Maddie & Tae, Darius Rucker and more.

Jason Aldean says having young kids in his 40s is a “helluva lot different” than it was in his 20s

Jason Aldean admits that he never thought he'd be raising young children at 40 years old — but now that he is, he wouldn't change a thing.

In the latest edition of People magazine, the singer reflects on the differences he's found between parenting young kids in his 20s, versus parenting young kids nowadays at age 44. Jason has two teenage daughters from his previous marriage to Jessica Ussery, and he says that back when his daughters were little, things were a “helluva lot different,” especially when it came to balancing family life with his career.

At the time, the singer was chasing success and touring as many as 250 days a year. That means “you're going to miss a lot of things” at home, he admits.

Now, Jason finds himself a dad to young kids once again: He and his wife Brittany share three-year-old Memphis and two-year-old Navy.

“At this point in my career, I've been able to be home a lot more for the little ones and experience a lot more of those things,” he reflects. “I'm not out there going after the unknown.”

With massive career success under his belt, Jason feels content to spend more time off the road and at home watching his kids grow up.

“It feels good to know that for the last 16 years, I've had a chance to do a job that I truly love to do,” he goes on to say, adding, “but if it all went away tomorrow, I'd be like, My kids are good.' I got no regrets at all.”

Jason's 10th studio album, Macon, came out earlier this month. It's one half of a double album, the other half of which — titled Georgia — is due out next spring.

Jimmie Allen calls out “lazy doctors” after his newborn daughter is hospitalized: “Your job is to save lives”

Jimmie Allen spoke out during a scary medical crisis on Tuesday night, saying that his five-week-old baby girl, Zara, had trouble breathing — and the medical staff working with his family did little to help her.

“Attention Doctors, if the parent of your one month old patient tells you the child [is] having a hard time breathing and the only thing your lazy self wants to do is check [her] heart and temperature, find another career,” he wrote on Twitter. “Your job is to save lives so do it.”

Jimmie and his wife, Alexis, who welcomed baby Zara in mid-October, were sent home from one hospital, only to rush to another later that same night, he goes on to say.

“Now thanks to the lazy doctors at a hospital in TN that just sent our daughter home, our daughter Zara lost color, stopped breathing and is being rushed to another hospital,” he explained in another tweet. “Thanks to the amazing EMT team that brought back Zara's color, she can breathe again. Gonna be a rough night.”

Five-week-old Zara is Jimmie and Alexis' second daughter together; they're also parents to 20-month-old Naomi. Jimmie has a seven-year-old son, Aadyn, from a previous relationship.

While it's been a difficult week in the singer's personal life, he also hit a big career milestone Tuesday when he was nominated in the all-genre category of Best New Artist at the 2022 Grammy Awards.

Federal jury finds white supremacists conspired in deadly Unite the Right rally

A federal jury on Tuesday found that white supremacists conspired to take part in violence during a 2017 Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville, Virginia which left three people dead. The jury in the civil trial ruled in favor of the plaintiffs on four of the six counts they faced, but deadlocked on two federal conspiracy counts.  The defendants — 12 individuals and five white nationalist organizations — were ordered to pay $26 million in damages for the violent protest. Half of that amount must be paid by James Fields, who’s serving life in prison for driving his vehicle into a crowd of counterprotestors, killing activist Heather Heyer.

The Unite the Right rally, which was held Aug. 11, 2017 on the campus of the University of Virginia, protested the removal of a statue of Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee from a park.  There were protests at the park the next day, leading to violence between the white supremacists and counter-demonstrators, during which Heyer was killed.

In addition to Fields, the defendants in the civil trial include prominent white nationalists and self-proclaimed members of the “alt-right,” such as Richard Spencer, Christopher Cantwell, Jason Kessler, Elliot Kline, Nathan Damico, Matthew Heimbach, Jeff Schoep, Andrew Anglin, Matthew Parrott and others.

President Biden orders 50M barrels from emergency oil stockpile to bring gas prices down

President Joe Biden has ordered the release of tens of millions of barrels of oil from the strategic reserve in a move to bring down gas prices.  During remarks from the White House on Tuesday, Biden ordered an additional 50 million barrels from the reserve, which is an emergency stockpile of oil stored in underground tanks in the Gulf Coast area, a move he said “will not solve the problem of high gas prices overnight.  It will take time, but before long, you should see the price of gas drop where you fill up your tank. And in the longer term, we will reduce our reliance on oil as we shift to clean energy.”  Inflation has pushed up the cost of many goods and services in the United States, particularly gasoline prices, which are presently at their highest prices in years.

The White House said in a statement: “American consumers are feeling the impact of elevated gas prices at the pump and in their home heating bills … because oil supply has not kept up with demand as the global economy emerges from the pandemic. That’s why President Biden is using every tool available to him to work to lower prices and address the lack of supply.”

Officials said the additional barrels of oil will be released from the strategic reserve in two ways — 32 million barrels in an exchange over the next few months that will eventually return to the emergency stockpile, and 18 million barrels in an acceleration of sales that Congress previously authorized. Biden described high gas prices as a problem in the United States and throughout the world: “We’re taking action. The big part of the reason Americans are facing high gas prices is because oil producing countries and large companies have not ramped up the supply of oil quickly enough to meet the demand. And the smaller supply means higher prices globally, globally, for oil.”
