Blake Shelton joins Snoop Dogg to look back on 2021-2022 NFL season

Blake Shelton is in the “Dogghouse” as he looks back on memorable NFL moments from this season with Snoop Dogg

The two superstars, who previously worked together on The Voice where Blake is a coach and Snoop served as a Mega Mentor in season 20, have joined forces yet again on Peacock’s Sunday Night Football Final series, where they reflect on the highlights and low moments from the 2021-2022 NFL season.

Among the noteworthy incidents the singers riff on range from players fumbling the football, to a hawk landing on the head of a Seatlle Seahawks fan in the stands. “You think he’s trying to pick him up and fly away with him?” Blake jokes about the wild video. “That’s next level.”

Other clips they share a laugh over include Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ Vita Vea struggling to take off his jersey, and a faulty fence that sends a team of Philadelphia Eagles fans flying as they reach down to high-five quarterback Jalen Hurts

“A lot of embarrassing stuff,” Blake comments.

Five-alarm fire in Bronx, NYC kills at least 19, including nine children

A devastating five-alarm fire broke out in an apartment building in the Fordham Heights neighborhood of the Bronx in New York City on Sunday, killing at least 19 people, including nine children.  More than 200 firefighters with the Fire Department of New York battled the blaze, which was first reported around 11 a.m. in the 19-floor building.

Officials described as one of the worst fires in decades.  NYC Mayor Eric Adams said during a press conference: “This is a horrific, horrific, painful moment for the city of New York and the impact of this fire is going to really bring a level of just pain and despair in our city. This is going to be one of the worst fires we have witnessed during modern times in the city of New York.”  According to data by the National Fire Protection Association, the 19 deaths makes the blaze the third deadliest apartment fire in the United States.

NYC Fire Commissioner Daniel Nigro confirmed that the fire may have been sparked by a faulty electric space heater, stating the blaze began in an apartment spanning the building’s second and third floors.  Said Nigro: “The fire consumed that apartment that is on two floors and part of the hallway. The door to that apartment, unfortunately, when the residents left was left open it did not close by itself. The smoke spread throughout the building, thus the tremendous loss of life and other people fighting for their lives at hospitals throughout the Bronx.”

Fire officials said 63 people were deemed to have suffered injuries so far, with at least 32 of them taken to area hospitals. Officials have not released the names of any of the victims. In a press conference Sunday evening, New York Gov. Kathy Hochul said the state would establish a victim’s compensation fund for those impacted by the fire.  Said Hochul: “We are indeed a city in shock. It’s impossible to go into that room, where scores of families, who are in such grief, who are in pain, to see in a mother’s eyes as I held her, who lost her entire family … it’s hard to fathom what they are going through.”

27 people rescued from floating ice chunk in Green Bay, Wisconsin

Authorities confirmed that least 27 people were rescued from a large chunk of floating ice in Green Bay, Wisc.  The Brown County Sheriff’s Office said in a post on Facebook that deputies worked with firefighters, Department of Natural Resources officials and the Coast Guard to safely remove the people from the ice off the shore of Point Comfort in Green Bay on Saturday.  Luckily, no one was injured in the incident.

In a statement, the Sheriff’s office said: “The Brown County Sheriff’s Office airboat and the U.S. Coast Guard’s airboat out of Sturgeon Bay were great assets during this rescue. Their ability to carry up to eight additional passengers aside from rescue personnel and ability to traverse ice and water terrain greatly cut down on the amount of time and risk this rescue took.”

The sheriff’s office received reports of broken ice around 10:17 a.m. as the ice floated about three-quarters of a mile during the rescue, settling about a mile away from the shoreline once the operation was completed. While the ice remained in “fairly stable condition”, it was “deteriorating rapidly” and cracking as water crashed against the edges.  According to authorities: “Barge traffic yesterday appears to have weakened the ice along the east shore of the Bay, therefore, the ice should be avoided for all recreational use.”

Cody Johnson knew his chart-climbing single, “Til You Can't,” was special from the very beginning

A veteran live performer with tons of experience playing songs in front of a crowd, Cody Johnson knows a special song when he hears one.

That's why, despite the fact that he had tons of songs to choose from off his 18-track project, Human The Double Album, Cody didn't have to deliberate long when it came to choosing the single. The singer says that “Til You Can't” was the obvious choice.

“Til You Can't” was the song that we recorded that I kind of looked at Trent Willmon, my producer, and was like, This feels [anthemic.] It feels very [much like a] fill-up-a-stadium kinda song,” Cody remembers. “Whenever we all had a discussion about what we should release as our first single, that was a unanimous decision among myself and my entire team. So it was kind of an obvious choice.”

Cody's instinct proved correct when he brought the song in front of a live audience. “I've thrived on live shows forever. As a live performing artist, “Til You Can't” is the most reactive song I've ever seen at a concert,” he continues.

“They already know every word. They're screaming at the top of their lungs,” he adds, affirming that the fan response to the live version of the song has been special since the get-go. “Yeah, it does feel different on all levels.”

Human The Double Album came out in October 2021. “Til You Can't” is currently inside country radio's Top 15.

Demi Lovato is home after seeking treatment for addiction at a Utah rehabilitation facility

Multiple media outlets reported this weekend that Demi Lovato is home after seeking treatment for addiction at a Utah rehabilitation facility over the holiday season.   Sources are saying that Lovato had recently been to rehab at the end of 2021, but is “doing well” at back home now.

According to People.com: “Demi is committed to their well-being, and throughout their life, they plan to do regular check-ins to make sure they are putting themselves first.” UsMagazine.com said on Sunday that Lovato’s most recent stay in rehab was over in time for them to spend the holidays with their family, sharing: “Demi will have a sober living companion [with] them during this transition. It was their decision to go back to rehab.”

Lovato, 29, wrote on Instagram early last month that being “California sober” — drinking alcohol and smoking marijuana — wasn’t working anymore. “Sober sober is the only way to be,” Lovato said.   Lovato, who identifies as non-binary and uses the pronouns “they” and “them,” had been using meth and heroin when they suffered a near-fatal overdose in 2018.  Lovato subsequently went to rehab and received injections of Vivitrol, which stops the effects of opioids. Lovato had also spent time in treatment facilities in 2010 and 2012.

Lovato’s struggle with substance abuse were chronicled in the YouTube docu-series, Demi Lovato: Dancing with the Devil.
