Shania Twain praises Taylor Swift for breaking one of her chart records: “Proud of you”

Taylor Swift would be the first to tell you that she’s a huge fan of Shania Twain, and Shania feels the same way about Taylor. In fact, when Twitter informed Shania that Taylor had broken one of the many records she holds, she celebrated Taylor’s accomplishment with a tweet of her own.

Taylor’s current album Red (Taylor’s Version) has been number one on Billboard‘s Top Country Albums chart for the past seven weeks. Late last month, a Twitter account called The Swift Society announced that Taylor has now spent more weeks at number one overall on that chart than any other female artist: a total of 98.  The record had previously been held by Shania, who spent 97 weeks on top overall.

On Thursday, Shania retweeted that tweet and commented, “Let’s Go Girls!!!! Proud of you @taylorswift13. Historical records are meant to be made and then broken. The baton is meant to be passed on to new generations. Unstoppable young female country artists are [fire] in spite of the hurdles  #trailblazers.”

In 2019, Shania and Taylor embraced on the American Music Awards stage.

Kane Brown says Granger Smith inspired him to get in shape: “Every day since then, I've started working out”

Back in August, Kane Brown took to Instagram to share the before and after shots of a personal project he'd been working on: His fitness level.

“Scroll to see how tiny I was,” the singer wrote in the caption, putting an old picture side by side with his current, more muscular physique by way of comparison.

In a new interview with Men's Health, Kane talks in greater depth about the moment that he decided to up his fitness game. It all started during a Fourth of July get-together with some friends, including his fellow country artists Granger Smith and RaeLynn.

Granger had been on tour with Kane in the past, and the headliner recalled how Granger would take his shirt off and toss it into the crowd. “He was just so shredded,” Kane remembered. The conversation turned to the singer's own physique, which he and his friend thought was comparatively kind of scrawny.

“So I told them, from then on, Just wait. I'm going to get ripped,'” he continues. “And every day since then, I've started working out.”

Kane started exercising with his security guard every morning between 9:30-11:00 a.m., six days a week. “I'll usually take Sundays off, kind of like Chick-fil-A,” he jokes.

Now, though, the singer says he's a work in progress, and he's starting to reap the benefits of his hard work. Not only does he like the way he looks, but he's also in better shape to play with his two-year-old daughter, Kingsley, and he has an easier time putting on a killer live show.

“Ask anyone who has seen my show recently; I'm literally sprinting across the stage,” Kane points out.

It's one of 47 new accolades awarded to the superstar, who also picked up a bevy of gold, silver and platinum sales certifications internationally. The new titles come from the U.S., the U.K., Canada, Australia, Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Finland.

For example, in 2021, Dolly’s “Jolene” single went double RIAA-certified Platinum in the U.S., triple platinum in Australia and Sweden, platinum in Denmark and Norway and gold in Finland. Her hit duet with Kenny Rogers, “Islands in the Stream,” is another international favorite: It's triple-platinum in Canada, double-platinum in the U.S., platinum in the U.K. and Sweden and gold in Denmark.

Those two songs were first recorded in 1974 and 1983, respectively. “I've often said that my songs are like my children, and I expect them to support me later in my life. Well, it looks like they are doing just that!” Dolly quips.

“I am so humbled to have been surprised with this incredible collection of certifications from around the world,” she continues. “I owe a big thank you to my fans, old and new, who continue to be there for me year after year. This is a wonderful way to kick off 2022!”

Morgan Wallen's 'Dangerous' was the most popular album of 2021 in the US

Morgan Wallen's Dangerous: The Double Album, which arrived last January, was the most popular album of 2021 in the U.S., according to MRC Data’s 2021 Year-End Report.

It was the top country album for the year and also the top album across all genres, with 3.23 million equivalent album units earned. Late in 2021, Billboard also placed Dangerous at the top of its all-genre year-end Billboard 200 Albums chart.

Morgan's been a controversial figure throughout 2021. In February, TMZ posted doorcam video footage of him yelling a racist slur as he said goodnight to a car full of friends. His music was swiftly removed from country radio stations, and he was disqualified from major awards shows, though the singer's fanbase remained stronger than ever.

While he stayed quiet through much of 2021, the singer's been making moves towards a return to the spotlight. He announced a major tour for 2022, and has begun to release new songs, including a collaboration with rapper Lil Durk called “Broadway Girls.”

Earlier this week, Lil Durk affirmed his support for Morgan, according to Variety.

“He ain't no racist, that's my boy,” the rapper stated. “We had a long talk, he had his public situation. We ain't behind closed doors.”

He went on to say that other rappers “for sure” should work with the country singer, adding “He ain't canceled, I talked to him. When I say you ain't canceled, you ain't canceled.”
