One body has been found in the search for a plane with eight passengers that crashed Sunday, Feb. 13, east of Drum Inlet on the Outer Banks. The U.S. Coast Guard do not believe there were any survivors.
On Monday, the U.S. Coast Guard confirmed that crews are searching for a plane with eight people aboard that crashed Sunday off the coast of North Carolina. On Monday, a federal judge in New York said he will dismiss a defamation lawsuit against The New York Times filed by former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin. U.S. District Court Judge Jed Rakoff said that Palin’s lawyers did not prove the publication knowingly wrote false or reckless information in the 2017 editorial at the center of the lawsuit.
Palin sued the Times over a 2017 editorial that falsely suggested there was a link between her political rhetoric and the 2011 shooting spree that left former Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, D-Ariz. injured, and six other people dead. Palin testified last week that the editorial in question was “devastating” when it was published. The Times corrected the information in the editorial the morning after it was published. It has not lost a defamation case in a U.S. courtroom in at least 50 years.
However, Judge Rakoff said Palin’s lawyers did not meet the legal threshold required to prove defamation. He said he will let the jury continue to deliberate. If it returns a verdict that finds the Times did not defame Palin, Rakoff would then accept the verdict. If the jury comes to the opposite conclusion, the judge would then set aside that verdict and enter his own in favor of the publication.

The title of his new album,? Blue in the Sky, ?reflects the optimistic state he’s at in life right now, but the singer says he was initially unsure of what to call the album until he heard the opening line of “Tequila on a Boat,” his duet with Chris Lane.
“There’s not really a song title that wraps its arms around how I’m feeling or this group of songs. So we were kicking around ideas, we’re talking months on end here, and ‘blue in the sky’ is the first line of ‘Tequila on a Boat.’ I’m like, ‘well is there a lyric that we can name the album after,'” he explains. “That was the one that raised its hand because of where I am, and I think where this album points, and that’s just very optimistic.”
But the Tullahoma, TN native had to walk through darkness before he could get to the light, going through a breakup only to discover who he truly is. The positive spirit on the other side helped inspire the album.
“Going through a relationship, break up, coming out on the other side of it and finding myself more than I ever have before and being comfortable in my own skin and what I want out of life,” he describes of his journey. “I’m in a very happy place, an optimistic place with my life personally, but also with what’s going on with my music career. It’s just awesome. It’s all good news and I truly believe we all have a choice every day to notice the blue in the sky, and that’s really what that lyric in that title reminds me to think of.”
Dustin is bringing “Party Mode” to country radio as his next single. He launches a tour of the same name on March 17.
Scotty McCreery pays tribute to George Strait in his latest single, “Damn Strait,” with the music video for the song filmed at the iconic Gruene Hall in New Braunfels, Texas. Gruene Hall is special for Strait since it is where he was a regular before he officially signed a record deal and became “The King of Country Music.”
The music video shows footage of McCreery and his band members performing on the stage with several photos of Strait throughout the years. The single was co-written by Jim Collins and Trent Tomlinson and appears on McCreery’s fifth studio album, Same Truck. Said McCreery about the song: “‘Damn Strait’ is both a classic country heartbreak song as well as a tribute to George Strait. I knew I wanted to film it at a place that paid respect to both elements of the song. When my director Jeff Ray suggested Gruene Hall, where George performed regularly with his Ace in the Hole Band before becoming the legend that he is today, I knew that was the perfect location.”
McCreery is currently on his headlining Same Truck Tour, featuring support from artists including Tenille Arts, Callista Clark, Kameron Marlowe and King Calaway.
