Dolly Parton removes herself from Rock & Roll Hall of Fame consideration

Dolly Parton is taking herself out of the running for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

“Even though I am extremely flattered and grateful to be nominated for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, I don’t feel that I have earned that right,” the music legend wrote Monday on Instagram. “I really do not want votes to be split because of me, so I must respectfully bow out,” she declared.

However, the country icon doesn’t rule out being nominated again in the future. She goes on to say that releasing a rock album has been a dream of hers and that the nomination has “inspired” her to potentially record one “at some point in the future.”

“I do hope that the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame will understand and be willing to consider me again – if I’m ever worthy,” she continues. “I wish all of the nominees good luck and thank you again for the compliment. Rock on!”

It was announced in February that Dolly was nominated for induction into the 2022 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame class alongside Carly Simon, Dionne WarwickLionel Richie, Eminem and others.

Dolly’s been a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame since 1999, and has also been inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, the Grammy Hall of Fame and the Gospel Music Hall of Fame.

U.S. National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan will travel to Rome to meet with Chinese counterpart

The White House announced on Sunday that U.S. National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan will travel to Rome on Monday to meet with his Chinese counterpart.

National Security Council spokeswoman Emily Horne said in a statement that Sullivan will speak to Chinese Communist Party Politburo Member and Director of China’s Foreign Affairs Commission Yang Jiechi as part of the United States’ “ongoing efforts to maintain open lines of communication” between the two countries.  Said Horne:“The two sides will discuss ongoing efforts to manage the competition between our two countries and discuss the impact of Russia’s war against Ukraine on regional and global security.”   Horne added that while in Rome, Sullivan will also meet with Luigi Mattiolo, diplomatic adviser to the Italian prime minister, “to continue coordinating a storong, united international response to President Putin’s war of choice.”

Sullivan’s visit comes as U.S. officials have criticized China’s response to the war in Ukraine, with Chinese domestic media promoting Russian disinformation and describing the war as a “special military operation.”  On Sunday, Sullivan told CNN’s State of the Union that the United States was prepared to take action against China if it violated sanctions to support Russia.  Said Sullivan: “We are communicating directly, privately to Beijing that there will absolutely be consequences for large-scale sanctions evasion efforts or support to Russia to backfill them. We will not allow that to go forward and allow there to be a lifeline to Russia from these economic sanctions from any country anywhere in the world.”

Ashley McBryde shares a peek into the “magical” and “frustrating” recording process for album three

Ashley McBryde's third album is finished, and next Tuesday, she says she's going in to listen to mixes.

This time around, the singer says, she pushed the envelope on just about every level. All the elements fans know and love her for are still there, but she and longtime producer Jay Joyce dialed up the energy in every aspect of the music.

Recalling her approach to the new material, Ashley notes, “As tender as we've ever been, let's see how much more we can turn that up. As country as we've ever been, let's turn that up a little bit. As much as we know how to rock n' roll, let's turn that up just a little bit, and see what happens.”

The results? An 11-track “page turn” project that represents something new, but still contains all the key elements and people that have always made her records so powerful.

“It's me and the guys, the same guys that have been on the road with me for every single show, and, of course, Jay Joyce and his magical mind,” Ashley says, adding that she went into the studio at least once with a song so fresh that the proverbial ink wasn't even dry on the page.

“Jay said, Can we cut that today?' And I went, Hang on.' So I text[ed] my co-writer, because we wanted to rewrite the verses. So we just did it via text right then, and then cut the song,” she remembers.

“It was as magical as it always is, and as frustrating as it always is,” she sums up. When Ashley's next album arrives, it'll be the follow-up to her hit 2020 record, Never Will.

Maddie & Tae’s Taylor Kerr brings baby daughter home from hospital after four months in NICU

Maddie & Tae’s Taylor Kerr and her husband, songwriter Josh Kerr brought their infant daughter, Leighton Grace Kerr, home from the hospital today after 53 days in the NICU.  Baby Leighton was born three months early.  A social media post from the couple read: “We have been blown away by all of the support and can’t thank you enough for praying her home. We were also blessed with so many amazing NICU nurses and staff along the way 🙏 // PS the blanket was taken off of her right after the picture was taken #safesleep💜

Kerr’s duet partner Maddie Font said that she had visited Kerr in the hospital, sharing: “It’s just been rough. My best friend’s been in the hospital for months, and she didn’t get to bring her baby home. It’s been really, really rough. We put out an album in January, and obviously, I had to do it by myself because Tae was in the hospital. It’s called ‘Through The Madness, Vol. 1,’ and I accidentally manifested some crazy madness naming the album that. And so, it’s wild listening to the new album before all of this. And now after, it makes me even more emotional.”

Font added that she prayed over her friend and that “God is so good. Every time we go through hardship, whether it’s our career or our personal life, he always pulls us through. It’s beautiful now being on the other side of this.”

Take a listen to Imagine Dragons’ new single ‘Bones’

Imagine Dragons have released their new single, “Bones,” from their forthcoming album Mercury – Act 2.  ‘Bones’ was produced by Swedish songwriting/production duo Mattman & Robin, who also helmed Imagine Dragons current hit single “Enemy,’ as well as two additional tracks on their upcoming L P.

Imagine Dragons frontman Dan Reynolds said: “‘Bones’ is a reflection of my constant obsession with the finality and fragility of life. I’m always in search of some evidence that will convince me that there is more to come – that life is truly eternal in some sense. Having yet to find that, I try to at least dream of what conquering death would feel like in a song.”

The band’s latest single, “Enemy,” has topped the Alternative Radio chart for the past five weeks. “Enemy” has racked up more than 1.24 billion combined global streams across two versions (including a collaboration with East Atlanta-based rapper J.I.D). The song continues to rank in the Top 5 on Global Spotify and Amazon Music.
