Miranda Lambert just announced her next studio album, ‘Palomino,’ will drop on April 29. The 15-song tracklist reveals a mix of cover songs, re-recorded songs and guest stars, plus new songs as well.
In addition to announcing the album, Lambert also dropped a new song called “Strange.” You can take a look at the video for the song – here.
CMT announced that Kelsea Ballerini and Anthony Mackie will host the 2022 CMT Music Awards. This marks Ballerini’s second time as co-host, after sharing duties with Kane Brown in 2021. Mackie presented the video of the year award to Carrie Underwood last year.
The CMT Music Awards, which bills itself as “country music’s only entirely fan-voted award show,” were originally set to take place April 3, but were pushed back in February after the Grammy Awards were rescheduled to the same date.
The awards ceremony will now air live from Nashville on Monday, April 11, from 8-11 p.m. ET. For the first time, the show will air on CBS; it also will be available to stream live and on demand on Paramount+.
The soundtrack to Disney’s “Encanto” is No 1 on the Billboard 200 for the eighth week, while the song from the film “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” is No. 2 after previously holding the No. 1 spot for five consecutive weeks. The track holds the No. 1 position on the Streaming Songs chart for the ninth consecutive week.
“We Don’t Talk About Bruno” is the only song from a Disney animated or live-action film to top the Hot 100 for multiple weeks. The “Encanto” soundtrack has now spent the most weeks at the top of the albums charts since Morgan Wallen’s “Dangerous: The Double Album” did so for 10 weeks from January- March 2021.
Kodak Black‘s “Back for Everything” debuted at number-two, his highest-charting album since “Dying to Live,” which hit number-one in 2018. Rounding out the top five are past chart-toppers “Dangerous: The Double Album” by Morgan Wallen at #3, “DS4Ever” by Gunna at #4, and The Weeknd‘s best-of compilation “The Highlights” at #5.
Charli XCX is back with her latest single “Baby” along with the official music video for the track. “Baby” is taken from the 29-year-old singer-songwriter’s upcoming studio album Crash, set to be released on March 18
Crash also includes Charli’s previously released singles “Good Ones,” Beg for You” with Rina Sawayama and “New Shapes” with Christine & The Queens and Caroline Polachek.
Just call him Cupid: Tim McGraw helped out a fan this week by providing her with tickets to his show so she could surprise her husband on their anniversary.
“I have done EVERYTHING I could to get tickets to your show this weekend,” the fan tweeted. “I wanted it to be a surprise for my hubby for our 20th wedding anniversary 2/22/22. But it's sold out. I told him I had a surprise for him. The surprise now is no concert.”
So the country star came to the rescue: “Happy anniversary! Tickets are on me. Enjoy,” Tim replied.
If anyone knows about the importance of celebrating anniversaries, it's Tim. He and his fellow superstar wife Faith Hill celebrated 25 years of marriage last fall.
Walker Hayes and Florida Georgia Line are both getting some love at the 2022 Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards.
FGL is one of the six nominees for Favorite Music Group, alongside Jonas Brothers, Maroon 5, BTS, Black Eyed Peas and Migos. The country duo are currently on hiatus, announcing their break last month.
Meanwhile, Walker gets a shoutout in the Favorite Breakout Artist category. He's going up against Saweetie, Olivia Rodrigo, Chloë, Glass Animals and Jack Harlowe.
They're the only two country acts to be nominated at the awards show, though country star turned pop icon Taylor Swift is nominated in several categories, and the “Taylor's Version” iterations of her country albums Red and Fearless are both nominated in the Favorite Album category.
Backstage at the ACM Awards earlier this week, Carrie Underwood teased that she might have something new to share relatively soon, though she didn't give any indication that new music is imminent.
But maybe fans can look forward to new material from Carrie sooner than they thought — at least, if her cryptic new social media post is any indication.
The singer shared a studio shot on Wednesday of her wearing a black hoodie and performing with headphones on and a mic in front of her.
“So, I did a thing…” Carrie wrote in the caption.
As she often does when she's teasing new music, Carrie kept things pretty enigmatic, not dropping any hints just yet of what the “thing” she did might be.
Carrie — who is also celebrating her 39th birthday on Thursday — offered a few more hints about new projects in the works backstage at the ACMs on Monday night, saying, “Obviously, we can't spill too many beans right now, but my fans know what I mean when I say, Soon.'”
Her last studio album, Cry Pretty, came out in 2018. Since then, Carrie released a Christmas album, My Gift, and a gospel album, My Savior. She also duetted with Jason Aldean on his chart-topping “If I Didn't Love You,” which won Single of the Year at the ACMs.
Miranda Lambert's next solo chapter is on its way. The singer announced a 15-song new album, called Palomino, on Thursday morning.
Some of the songs on the track list are familiar. It includes full-band versions of “Geraldene,” “In His Arms” and “Waxahachie,” all songs that appeared in stripped-down acoustic form on Miranda's 2021 album with Jon Randall and Jack Ingram, The Marfa Tapes.
But the singer's not leaving behind the rock edge she developed on her last solo album, Wildcard. In fact, one track, “Music City Queen,” is a collaboration with New Wave dance rockers The B-52s.
Travel's a big theme on the project, says Miranda, a self-described “Highway Vagabond” who — like the rest of the world — found herself unexpectedly grounded when the COVID-19 pandemic hit in March 2020.
During her break from the road, she assembled frequent songwriting collaborators like Luke Dick and Natalie Hemby at her Tennessee farm, she says.
“We figured while we have time let's get out to the country and see what happens,” Miranda explains. “The first one we wrote was Tourist' and that set us on a path to create something with a bit of a theme. Since we couldn't travel at the time, we decided to go on a journey through songs. I hope y'all are ready to travel with us wandering spirits and meet some cool characters with great stories.”
Palomino also includes Miranda’s current single, “If I Was a Cowboy,” plus a just-released new song, “Strange.”
Palomino is due out April 29. It'll be Miranda's eighth studio album, and comes just weeks after she was named the 2022 ACM Entertainer of the Year.
Kelsea Ballerini is returning to her co-hosting gig at the CMT Music Awards for 2022. Billboard reports that she's sharing the stage this year with actor Anthony Mackie.
Last year, Kelsea co-hosted the CMT Awards with Kane Brown, in what was her first time as a host on the show. Kane's not returning this year, but Anthony — known for his roles in The Hurt Locker and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier — is stepping in to fill his shoes.
Though he isn't technically in the country world, Anthony has a little bit of history with the CMT Awards. Last year, he presented the final award of the night, Video of the Year, which went to Carrie Underwood and John Legend's “Hallelujah.”
The 2022 CMT Music Awards will take place on April 11. For the first time, it's airing on CBS, live from Nashville's Bridgestone Arena.
Nominees for the fan-voted awards show will be revealed on March 16.
