Rina Sawayama releases the new song “Catch Me In The Air”

Rina Sawayama has released a new track titled “Catch Me In The Air,” the second song shared from her forthcoming album, Hold the Girl.

According to Sawayama, the single was written “in-between lockdowns” with Oscar Scheller, Clarence Clarity, Gracey and Stuart Price.  She shared in a press release: “I really wanted to write about this weird relationship with single parents – you do catch each other in the air. I wanted the whole song to sound like it was on an Irish coastline, like a Corrs video. We put in a key change to go into the chorus, at the end of the pre-chorus to make it lift and soar like a bird…This was the first song that Stuart and I worked on together, and it was the most incredible experience. I’m such a huge fan of his work with Madonna and Kylie so it was a dream come true. We would send each other stock images of coastlines, people doing yoga on a pier, meditating in the middle of a field, hay bales, etc. to get inspired sonically.”

“Catch Me In The Air” is the follow-up to “This Hell,” which Sawayama released in May of this year. Sawayama’s second studio album, Hold the Girl, is set to release on Friday, September 2.

You see my character joining her friends and family on the island where they’ve chosen to start life anew, arriving in her trademark suit and quickly being transformed by nature’s strange magic. I’m so proud of my buds for learning the dance in this one. Hope you like it.”

Mickey Guyton says son has been “huge motivation” to speak out about inequality

Mickey Guyton is known for releasing music that addresses racial inequality and gender gaps in country music and beyond.

With songs like “What Are You Gonna Tell Her?” and “Black Like Me,” she delivers powerful messages calling for change in the genre, and she's continued to use her platform at every step of her career.

The singer says that she was inspired to speak up in response to the “disparities in my particular industry against women and women of color,” but adds that the birth of her son, Grayson, gave her a push toward using her voice.

“And then once I became pregnant, it was like, How could I not say something?'” Mickey tells ET Online. “Like, I don't want my son when he grows up to look back and know that I said nothing. He's been a huge motivation for that.”

Another big motivator, the singer says, is knowing that there's a new crop of Black and minority artists waiting to break into country music and wanting to do her part to make sure it's possible for them to do so.

“It will never be OK for me, and that's something where I can sleep at night knowing that I'm seeing so many incredible artists of color coming up in this industry,” she continues. “That is the most important.”

Miranda Lambert is thankful for the “hard stuff” that led her to meeting husband Brendan McLoughlin

These days, Miranda Lambert is happily married to former NYPD officer Brendan McLoughlin — but she had to go through quite a few ups and downs to find happiness.

“When I turned 30, I started to take life in a new direction and really start to understand myself better,” the singer, now 38, tells People. “And going through hard things obviously makes you get to know yourself better.”

As a country superstar, Miranda has had to go through many of those “hard things” in the public eye. In 2015, she went through a divorce from fellow country superstar Blake Shelton after nearly five years of marriage.

“When you get broken down pretty good, you look at the mirror and you go, I have to spend some time with me, learn who I am and what I want,'” Miranda continues. “I got to a really good place with myself. Then I met my husband.”

Despite all the heartache she endured, Miranda says she's got no regrets. “Without the hard stuff — the chaos, the crazy schedule, the heartbreak, the falling in love, the falling out of love — I wouldn't be who I am,” she points out. “I'm thankful for the lessons, even though they hurt at the time.”

“Brown Eyes Baby”: Keith Urban to debut his next single from New York City's Rockefeller Center

Keith Urban has a special performance coming up. On Thursday, he'll take the stage from New York City's Rockefeller Center to perform a selection of his biggest hits.

But that's not all: The country superstar will also debut his brand-new single, “Brown Eyes Baby,” which is officially headed to radio on July 8. Keith's been performing the new song on some recent stops of his The Speed of Now Tour, but it doesn't appear on the track list of his latest album, The Speed of Now Part 1, meaning a new batch of music just might be on its way.

Fans have been capturing footage of Keith's performance of the song, including a clip filmed on the second night of his tour in West Palm Beach. According to that video, “Brown Eyes Baby” is a mid-tempo ballad about turning heartache into something sweeter.

“So we've been working on some new music that's gonna be coming out very soon, and we thought we might lay one on you,” Keith told the audience at that show before performing the song.

Keith's Rockefeller performance will be broadcast as a TODAY takeover during the 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. hours. Tune in to watch on NBC.

Miranda Lambert reveals her mom is cancer-free after a diagnosis last September

Miranda Lambert has great news about the breast cancer diagnosis her mother, Beverly, received last September.

“She's been through a whole lot, but she's doing really well, and she's ready to roll,” the star says, revealing in a new People cover story that her mother is now cancer free.

“I was able to be there with her through the hardest parts. She's unstoppable,” Miranda explains.  “She's just been so strong and positive through the whole thing. It's a good lesson for people to take away from a journey like that: Even though it's a really scary place to be, the more positive, the better.”

The singer adds that she, her dad Rick and brother Luke, all gathered around Beverly in the family's home state of Texas to help her through the ordeal.

Miranda and her mom have always been close — they even co-founded the MuttNation Foundation, an organization that supports shelter pets — and Beverly tells People that her country superstar daughter was there every step of the way.

“When she wasn't here in Texas, we talked by phone or FaceTime so she could see how I was,” Beverly recounts. “On my head-shaving day, she FaceTimed with me and my hairdresser so she could be with me.”

She adds, “We had some unexpected bonding moments over her rubbing my bald head with essential oils. Those were the rawest and most tearful moments.”

Ghislaine Maxwell sentenced to 20 years for aiding Jeffrey Epstein in sex trafficking underage girls

On Tuesday, Ghislaine Maxwell was sentenced to 20 years in prison for aiding the late financier Jeffrey Epstein in his sexual abuse of underage girls for at least a decade between the 1990s and 2000s. Following a criminal trial, Maxwell was found guilty last December of conspiring with Epstein – an associate and romantic partner for a period of time — to groom, recruit and sexually abuse minors as part of Epstein’s now-infamous trafficking ring. Maxwell was convicted of multiple charges related to sex trafficking and conspiracy.

Maxwell’s defense team had asked to postpone her sentencing hearing because she was suddenly moved to solitary confinement, arguing that Maxwell’s hearing should be rescheduled since solitary confinement meant she was unable to prepare for it.  Despite reports about her mental state, attorneys said that Maxwell was not at risk of suicide prior to the transfer.

The 60-year-old Maxwell was indicted in July of 2020 and taken into federal custody where she was held without bail for 16 months leading up to her trial. Her arrest came about a year after Epstein died by apparent suicide in his New York City jail cell while facing federal sex trafficking and conspiracy charges. Maxwell pleaded not guilty to all charges originally brought against her, and was acquitted of one count of enticing a minor to travel across state lines to engage in an illegal sex act. She never took the stand to testify during the trial, saying she felt there was “no reason” to formally defend herself before the court because “the government [had] not proven its case beyond a reasonable doubt.”

CVS, Walmart, Amazon and Rite Aid limit purchases of emergency contraceptive pills after Roe vs. Wade ruling

In the wake of the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe vs. Wade, a number of major pharmacy chains and other retailers have placed limits on purchases of Plan B emergency contraception due to increased demand.  On Friday, the Supreme Court voted 6-3 to overturn its 1973 opinion in Roe vs. Wade, which legalized abortion nationwide.

CVS Pharmacy told CNN that although the pharmacy chain has “ample supply” of contraceptive pill brands Plan B and Aftera, it is limiting purchases to three per customer “to ensure equitable access and consistent supply on store shelves.”

Rite Aid also told CNN they were implementing a similar limit on purchases of contraceptive pills: “Due to increased demand, at this time we are limiting purchases of Plan B contraceptive pills to three per customer,” said Alicja Wojczyk, senior manager of external communications for Rite Aid.

Amazon also confirmed to that it had placed a limit of three units per week on emergency contraceptive pills; and Walmart has said that many of its products purchased online have limits that can change “during times of fluctuating demand” but purchases of emergency contraceptive pills were not currently being limited.

Emergency contraceptive pills – commonly referred to as “morning after pills” — can be purchased over-the-counter without an ID or prescription. The contraceptive pills typically prevent pregnancy by stopping the release of an egg from the ovaries, preventing a sperm from fertilizing an egg or stopping a fertilized egg from attaching to the womb, and are meant to be taken up to three days after unprotected sex.  Emergency contraceptive pills differ from abortion pills, which require a prescription and can be used effectively within the first 10 weeks of pregnancy.
