Blackpink drop the video for their new song “Pink Venom”

K-pop girl group Blackpink have shared the video for their lead single “Pink Venom” taken off their forthcoming sophomore LP Born Pink. You can take a look at the video for Pink Venom here.

Born Pink is set to drop on September 16 via YG Entertainment. Blackpink’s upcoming record arrives two years after their debut, The Album, which included the Selena Gomez collaboration “Ice Cream.” The album release was revealed along with news of the group’s upcoming world tour.

Tthe members of Blackpink—Jennie, Jisoo, Lisa, and Rosé—discussed their songwriting process in a recent interview with Rolling Stone. Said Jisoo: “We don’t just receive a completed song. We are involved from the beginning, building the blocks, adding this or that feeling, exchanging feedback—and this process of creating makes me feel proud of our music. If we just received pre-made songs, it would feel mechanical. I feel more love for the process, because we say, ‘How about adding this in the lyrics? How about adding this move in the choreography?” Rapper Jennie added: “I don’t think hip-hop is just about rapping. Look at Rihanna, she could make anything hip-hop. Hip-hop means something different to everyone. To me, it’s the spirit of cool—vibes, swag, whatever words you can use. I think Blackpink’s hip-hop is something the world hasn’t seen before. We, four girls in their twenties from different backgrounds, are using Korean and English to weave pop music with a hip-hop base. Maybe if the really cool rappers in America, who do “real hip-hop,” look at us, it can seem a little like kids doing things. Our hip-hop isn’t the rebellious kind, but we are doing something very cool. What hip-hop is this? I don’t know! It’s just cool!”

Willie Nelson reveals he had COVID-19 in May, “had a pretty rough time with it”

Willie Nelson survived a difficult bout of COVID-19 back in May, he reveals in a lengthy new profile published in the New York Times.

The country legend, who suffers from emphysema, had just turned 89 a week prior when, on May 4, he woke up during a tour stop in Nashville struggling to breathe. He tested positive.

“I had a pretty rough time with it,” Willie now says of the experience. “COVID ain't nothing to laugh at, that's for sure.”

According to his wife, Annie, Willie's bout with the illness was nearly fatal. After his rapid PCR test came back positive, she immediately began administering every remedy she could think of to help him combat the infection.

“I had a nebulizer on the bus,” she recounts. “I started everything I could at that point, including PAXLOVID. He had the monoclonal antibodies. He had steroids.”

They rushed back home, where Annie “turned the house into a hospital,” she goes on to say. Still, for a few days the singer's illness was very severe. “There were a couple of times when I wasn't sure he was going to make it,” Annie adds.

Fortunately, Willie started to recover after six days. Two weeks later, he was back to performing.
