Luke Bryan reveals the first “country music celebrity” he ever met

Luke Bryan's one of the biggest stars in the country genre these days, but way back at the beginning of his career, he was a fan — and like any fan, meeting one of his idols left him starstruck.

For Luke, that idol was none other than Vince Gill. The pair shared the story of their earliest meeting this week during a duet performance at the Brett Boyer Foundation Golf Invitational.

“Somebody said this man was sitting in that boutique in there, and we walked in there and I shook his hand,” Luke recounts, according to Billboard. “And he was the first country music celebrity I ever met.”

Vince's reaction to meeting a young fan taught Luke a lot about how the music business should work, he goes on to say.

“You know what he did? … He stood up, shook my hand and then so many years later we get to sit on a stage like this and have fun in a true musician, organic, not playing fashion. Which is what music ought to be, in my opinion,” the singer continues.

In his own career, Luke is busier than ever these days. He just released the music video for his latest single, “Country On,” and he's also in the midst of his Raised Up Right tour.

Dolly sure can write a sad song

“I think it’s kind of misery loves company. I think that we all have some really shitty days, and I think that’s just a reminder that we all feel low, and we all can feel low together sometimes.

And we’re not alone, and that’s kind if my favorite thing about country is, it’s like, we’re all in this together. It’s real and it’s honest, and it’s people sharing their highs, but it’s also people sharing their lows.

And I think it kind of comes down to feeling less alone when you feel really alone in the world.”, Casey Young quoted on whiskeyriff.com.

I’m Alright, 24years ago today hit number 1

“On Aug. 18, 1998, Jo Dee Messina landed at No. 1 on the Billboard country singles chart with “I’m Alright.”

The title track from Messina’s second studio album, the Phil Vassar-penned “I’m Alright” features a woman who’s down on her luck, but meeting up with an old friend (who perhaps might be an old flame) to catch up. Sparks don’t fly — the man is now married, after all — but the rendezvous does help the narrator gain perspective on how her own life is going.”, Annie Zaleski wrote on theboot.com.

Ingrid Andress' “Wishful Drinking” duet partner could never have been anyone but Sam Hunt

Ingrid Andress has got a top 10 hit on her hands with “Wishful Drinking,” and she says the duet would never have worked so well without a perfect choice of duet partner: Sam Hunt.

“It has a lot of elements in it that I feel like Sam uses in his music,” Ingrid explains, adding that he was her first and only choice when it came to selecting a collaborator for the song.

“I could only picture his voice on it, because of that style,” the singer continues. “And I appreciate how he stays true to that in all his music. So that's part of why he was the only artist I could hear on the song.”

In fact, she jokes that Sam might be a more natural fit for her song than she is — even though she wrote it.

“He just has natural swag dripping from him,” Ingrid says. “So it's, like, not a lot of work to be done there. When I heard him on it, I was like, You sound better than I do on this, and it makes me upset.'”

As her single rises on the charts, Ingrid is keeping busy this summer: She's currently on the road as part of Keith Urban's The Speed of Now World Tour, and she's also readying her sophomore album, Good Person. That project is due out on August 26.

Thunder Ridge Nature Arena, a newly constructed venue at Bass Pro Shops Big Cedar Lodge in the Ozarks of Missouri, is opening with a bang: Garth Brooks will perform the arena's first concert.

The event will take place October 1 at 7 p.m., embracing all the natural beauty that the venue boasts. Fans can look out at the nearby Table Rock Lake and Boston Mountains of Arkansas as they enjoy Garth's performance.
