Reba McEntire is one tough judge in the trailer for The Hammer.

The country legend is the star and executive producer of the upcoming Lifetime movie that is based on the life of Kimberly Wanker, a judge in the fifth district of Nevada. The trailer shows Reba in action in court, not hesitating to knock out a criminal with her gavel when he attempts to attack her on the bench.

Why don't you just meet me in Broadway?: Maren Morris “in tears” after scoring Wicked callback

Maren Morris has made it no secret that a lifelong dream of hers is to star in Wicked, and “The Middle” singer is officially one step closer to turning her Broadway dreams into a reality.

Maren celebrated some very good news on her Instagram Stories, writing in lime green letters against a white backdrop, “I got a callback for Wicked.  I am in tears.  What the hell.”

The singer also shared the excellent news on Twitter, which earned her a round of applause from none other than Kristin Chenoweth, who originated the role of Glinda in Wicked‘s Broadway debut. “You go baby!! Told ya you could do it!!!” the Broadway legend cheered.

Soon after, “The Bones” singer took to her Instagram Story to talk about the significance of the moment.  “Ya’ll, I literally don't even care — yes I do — if I go beyond this callback because this is, like, 14-year-old Maren’s getting to achieve something that was never in reach,” the singer said, adding her Broadway dreams “just never felt possible.”

“We’ll see where it goes,” the Grammy winner emotionally declared. “I’m just really happy. I love Wicked. I love Elphaba. I love Kristin Chenoweth. Thank you, Kristin, for inspiring me to just buck up and just send the self-tape in.”

Maren revealed in May she had made an audition tape where she sings “The Wizard and I,” a solo number sung by the character Elphaba, in hopes of being cast in the beloved musical.

The singer previously revealed she wants to play Elphaba, who becomes the infamous Wicked Witch of the West from The Wizard of Oz?.  The hitmaker said she identifies “heavily” with the green-skinned character.

Attempted breach at Cincinnati FBI field office ends with suspect’s death following hours-long standoff

Following an hours-long standoff, a suspect was killed Thursday afternoon in a gunfire exchange with officers in response to the suspect’s attempt to breach the Cincinnati FBI field office building at around 9 a.m.  Ohio State Highway Patrol Lt. Nathan Dennis said in a news briefing Thursday evening that the suspect ended the standoff by firing at officers; officers returned fire and the suspect died on the scene. No officers were injured in the confrontation. The suspect’s identity has not been confirmed.

Ohio Highway Patrol troopers and local law enforcement agents responded to the alleged breach attempt Thursday morning at the FBI field office, with the suspect allegedly attempting to break in through the visitor screening center. The FBI said the individual fled following an immediate response from special agents, prompting law enforcement to shut down roughly a one-mile stretch of a nearby highway and issue a lockdown warning for residents and businesses in the surrounding area.

Authorities did not give any indication of a possible motive for the breach, and said the incident is still under investigation. The incident came one day after FBI Director Christoper Wray delivered a warning about violent threats circulating online in the aftermath of this week’s FBI search at former President Donald Trump’s Florida residence, Mar-a-Lago.

Attorney General Merrick Garland defends DOJ; says he moved to unseal Trump search warrant

On Thursday, U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland said the Justice Department has filed a legal motion in the southern district of Florida to unseal the warrant and FBI property receipt in the search of former President Donald Trump’s Mar-A-Lago residence. Garland said he personally approved the search warrant, and that Trump’s counsel was given a copy of the search warrant and FBI property receipt at Mar-A-Lago on Monday during the search.  Said the Attorney General: “The Justice Department has filed a motion in the southern district of Florida to unseal a search warrant and property receipt relating to a court approved search the FBI conducted earlier this week. That search was a premises in southern Florida belonging to the former president.”

Garland added:  “The department filed a motion to make public the warrant and receipt in light of the former president’s public confirmation of the search, the surrounding circumstances and the substantial public interest in this matter. Faithful adherence to the rule of law is the bedrock principle of the Justice Department and of our democracy. Upholding the rule of law means applying the law evenly without fear or favor. Under my watch, that is precisely what the Justice Department is doing.”

Garland also defended the department from the attacks by Republicans about its credibility and independence: “I will not stand by silently when their integrity is unfairly attacked. The men and women of the FBI and Justice Department are dedicated, patriot public servants. Every day they protect the American people form violent crime, terrorism and other threats to their safety, while safeguarding our civil rights.”

Garland said the search warrant was authorized by a court upon probable cause. The FBI carried out the warrant as part of a court-authorized search related to an investigation into potential mishandling of classified documents that ended up at Mar-a-Lago.

Keith Urban on working with songwriting legend Richard Marx: “We clicked”

Keith Urban and Richard Marx have a natural songwriting chemistry, so much so that Richard has included him on his upcoming album, Songwriter.

The superstars’ relationship spans decades, beginning with the country singer’s 2005 single, “Better Life,” which reached the top of the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. Additionally, “Everybody” became a top five hit in 2008, followed by one of Keith’s signature hits, “Long Hot Summer.”

Keith says that when he and Richard met in the early 2000s, they quickly realized they had a seamless repertoire in the studio.

“We clicked. Our pop sensibilities, I think melodic, hooky sensibilities blended really well,” Keith describes. “He was able to bring what he does and what I do, and we found a way to bring those worlds together into those songs.”

Their relationship continues on Richard’s new album, Songwriter, which finds him collaborating with artists across genres. He and Keith co-wrote a track called “One Day Longer” under the country category, which Keith says is a long time coming.

“It’s a song we had written many years ago. He just texted me last week and said he had included the song on a project he was doing, so that’s the first I’d heard about it,” Keith recalls.

In addition to his work with Keith, Richard also found success in the country genre as a co-writer on Kenny Rogers‘ hits “Crazy” and “What About Me.” Another country act featured on Songwriter is Darius Rucker, who co-wrote “Breaking My Heart” with the songwriting legend.

Songwriter is out on September 30.
