Maren Morris is “very proud” of her team of women on tour

Maren Morris is praising the women she works with on tour.

The hitmaker is currently on her headlining Humble Quest Tour, and she’s brought a team of women with her to help run the show. Maren reveals that half of her crew is female and notes that while she’s steering the ship, she couldn’t do it without her support system, including frequent co-writer Natalie Hemby and guitarist Annie Clements

“I just have to take a moment and say that I love the women on this tour. I am very proud to be able to say that half my crew out here are women. It is rare you see it 50/50 in the touring industry, but it happens intentionally and over time,” the singer says alongside a gallery of photos highlighting the women on her team. “Everyone can hang, feel safe, and hopefully have some drinks once the trailer is locked. I might be the boss, but this sh** doesn't go without the incredibly hardworking girls and guys out here.”

Touring isn’t the only area where Maren is surrounded by a team of women. She’s also one-fourth of the all-female supergroup, The Highwomen, with Brandi Carlile, Amanda Shires and Natalie.

The Humble Quest Tour continues through early December.

Cole Swindell says it was “cool” working with Jo Dee Messina on “She Had Me at Heads Carolina” video

Cole Swindell‘s video for “She Had Me at Heads Carolina” is filled with personal touches.

As confirmed in the teaser, “Heads Carolina, Tails California” singer Jo Dee Messina makes an appearance in the video as the bartender serving up drinks at the karaoke bar that Cole and his friends visit in downtown Nashville.

Additionally, one of the original writers of “Heads Carolina,” Tim Nichols, makes a cameo sitting next to Cole at the bar.

The karaoke concept was Cole’s idea, as was Jo Dee playing the bartender, noting that “one of the coolest parts” about the video was having Tim next to him at the bar while the country legend is making cocktails.

“I told her, ‘You’re going to make this whole video,'” Cole shares on Instagram Live about pitching the idea to Jo Dee, admitting that he was “nervous” to meet her for the first time on set. “I’m so glad that she was able to make it up for that. It was cool.”

The Georgia native also hints that he and his team are in the process of finding another way for the two to collaborate and encourages his fans to be “patient.” “I promise it’s going to be worth it when we figure out what we want to do,” he says.

Cole’s girlfriend, Courtney Little, also makes a cameo in the video.

“She Had Me at Heads Carolina” is currently racing up the top 10 on the country charts, becoming the fastest rising hit of Cole’s career so far.

Scotty McCreery celebrates success of three consecutive #1 hits

Scotty McCreery is riding high on the success of his recent singles.

This week, Scotty was presented with plaques commemorating his three consecutive singles that have sat at #1 on country radio: “In Between,” “You Time” and current multiweek #1, “Damn Strait.” He also received plaques for Gold certification by the RIAA for each track.

The chart-topping success brought back childhood memories of longing to be a country star, Scotty said in a sentimental Instagram post.

“Wish I could tell 10 year old Scotty practicing guitar on the end of his bed. One day he'd get to celebrate 3 #1 singles in the morning and then play the Grand Ole @Opry that night,” the singer writes alongside a gallery of photos, including the plaque ceremony, him with his pregnant wife, Gabi, outside the Opry marquee and in his dressing room backstage.

“In Between” was the final single released off the American Idol winner’s 2018 album, Seasons Change. Both “You Time” and “Damn Strait” are featured on his latest album, Same Truck.

Scotty and Gabi are expecting their first child this fall.

Keith Urban recalls “surreal” first time meeting Olivia Newton-John

Keith Urban has nothing but fond memories of the late Olivia Newton-John.

The country singer met the Grease star at a songwriters’ retreat in the late ’90s and reveals he was a bit of a “fanboy.”

“It was surreal to get to meet her. She couldn’t have been more down to earth, kind, friendly, warm, funny, everything I thought she would be,” Keith describes. “She was exactly that.”

The two kept in touch and continued to write together over the years, including a song called “Sunburned Country” that Keith is a featured vocalist on. But music isn’t the only way they connected. In fact, the actress was present the night Keith met his wife, Nicole Kidman, at an event called Good Day LA in 2005 where he, Nicole and Mel Gibson were being honored as Australians who’d found success in America. When asked which fellow famous Australian he’d like to introduce him, Olivia’s name was the first that came to mind.

“I had just written with Olivia, so I asked Olivia if she would do it for me. She was the person who introduced me that fateful night when I met my wife, so she also plays that very special role in our past, as well,” he recalls. “Olivia is one of those people that for so many Australians particularly has always been part of the fabric of life. She was there in the ’70s and has been there for all of my life. It feels like she’s been there.”

Olivia passed away on August 8 at the age of 73 from cancer.

Iranian military operative is charged in plot to assassinate former Trump security advisor John Bolton

On Wednesday, the U.S. Department of Justice charged an Iranian military operative with plotting to assassinate former President Donald Trump’s national security advisor, John Bolton. Bolton, who served as Trump’s third national security advisor for 17 months before resigning, was the main architect of the administration’s “maximum pressure” campaign against Iran.

According to court documents, 45-year-old Shahram Poursafi of Tehran, Iran attempted to arrange the killing of Bolton in retaliation for the January 2020 U.S. airstrike that killed Iran’s top commander, Gen. Qasem Soleimani, who led a special forces unit of Iran’s elite Revolutionary Guard. Soleimani had been a key figure in Iranian and Middle East politics and his death exacerbated tension between Iran and the United States

Poursafi, a member of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard, attempted to pay individuals in the United States in October 2021 a reward of $300,000 to carry out the plot in either Washington, D.C., or Maryland. Poursafi, also known as Mehdi Rezayi, was charged with the use of interstate commerce facilities in the commission of murder for hire and with providing and attempting to provide material support to a transnational murder plot. If convicted, he faces up to 10 years imprisonment and a fine of up to $250,000 for the use of interstate commerce facilities in the commission of murder for hire. Additionally, he faces up to 15 years imprisonment and a fine of up to $250,000 for providing and attempting to provide material support to a transnational murder plot. Poursafi remains at large abroad.

In a statement, Bolton thanked the Justice Department, FBI and the Secret Service: “While much cannot be said publicly right now, one point is indisputable: Iran’s rulers are liars, terrorists, and enemies of the United States. Their radical, anti-American objectives are unchanged; their commitments are worthless and their global threat is growing.”

3 people killed in Southern Indiana house explosion; 39 more homes are damaged

Three people were killed Wednesday when a house exploded in the southern Indiana city of Evansville. The cause of the explosion has not been determined, but the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives was investigating.

Evansville Fire Department Chief Mike Connelly said a total of 39 houses were damaged by the explosion at around 1 p.m, adding that the department has not confirmed how many of the houses were occupied when the explosion happened because “some were too unstable to enter. Debris is strewn over a 100-foot (30-meter) radius” including “typical construction materials such as wooden boards, window glass and insulation.”

Fire Chief Connelly said that CenterPoint Energy, the local gas utility, was last called to the home in January 2018. CenterPoint issued a statement saying: “CenterPoint Energy is working closely with the Evansville Fire Department, State Fire Marshal and other agencies as the investigation of this incident continues.” It was the second house explosion in the area in just over five years. A house explosion on June 27, 2017, killed two people and injured three others.

Justin Moore's “With a Woman You Love” coincides with major milestones in his marriage

Justin Moore's fast-rising new country single, “With a Woman You Love,” is one of the most romantic songs he's ever put out.

“With a woman you love, you'll get home at a decent hour / Don't need to look no more, cause you've finally found her,” he sings in the chorus. “No, forever just ain't long enough / With a woman you love…”

For Justin, that woman is his wife of nearly a decade and a half, Kate. But if Kate was impressed by the lovelorn lyrics of her husband's new song, she hasn't shown it, he tells ABC Audio.

“Maybe she is impressed. She plays it closer to the vest,” he says skeptically, adding that Kate actually had the idea to put out a song like this one, though her reasoning was more practical than it was romantic.

“She actually goes, Hey, you haven't put out a love song in a while. You've been doing a bunch of beer drinkin' stuff. I'm like, Yeah, I like that better,'” Justin jokes.

Even so, “Woman You Love” is special because it matches up with some major personal milestones. “She and I just celebrated, in May, being together for 20 years. And September will be our 15th wedding anniversary,” he details.

“It's also our 15th year to do [music] at this level. So it's kind of neat,” Justin says. “If I'm not mistaken, this is our fastest-rising song of our career … So it's kind of neat that we'll always be able to associate this song with all of those anniversaries.”

“With a Woman You Love” is currently inside the top 10 and rising at country radio.
