Dolly Parton retiring from “full-blown” touring: “I do not think I will ever tour again”

Dolly Parton's busier than ever these days, but there's one aspect of her career that she's dialing down considerably — touring.

“I do not think I will ever tour again,” Dolly tells Pollstar, “but I do know I'll do special shows here and there, now and then.”

That could even mean a festival appearance or a long weekend with multiple sets, but lengthy, far-from-home performances simply don't fit with her life right now, the singer says.

“I've done that my whole life, and it takes so much time and energy,” Dolly says. “I like to stay a little bit closer to home with my husband.”

After all, Dolly and husband Carl Dean aren't as young as they used to be: At 76 years old, Dolly is healthy and energetic enough to be part of a wide variety of musical and on-screen projects, but she knows it's important to be cautious.

“We're getting older now, and I don't want to be gone for four or five weeks at a time. Something could happen. I would not feel right about that, if I were gone and somebody needed me,” she points out. “Or I would feel bad if I had to leave a tour if somebody got sick at home and needed me and then I had to walk out on the fans.”

The seven individuals transported to nearby hospitals included six guests and one staff member at Silver Dollar City, a theme park in Branson near the Arkansas border.

Few details are known about the circumstances surrounding the accident, although the park said in a statement that the derailment occurred as the Frisco Silver Dollar Line Steam Train, one of its attractions, was completing its usual route. Silver Dollar City wrote in a statement posted on Facebook and Twitter: “Silver Dollar City confirmed that earlier this evening, sections of the Frisco Silver Dollar Line Steam Train derailed from the track. Onsite paramedics provided emergency care until first responders arrived. Jan. 6 rioter who dragged D.C. Police Officer into crowd sentenced to 7.5 years in prison

On Thursday, a Jan. 6 rioter who dragged former D.C. Police Officer Michael Fanone into the crowd on the steps of the U.S. Capitol was sentenced to 7.5 years in federal prison. 43-year-old Albuquerque Head from Tennessee was sentenced to 90 months in federal prison, one of the longest sentences to date in the Capitol riot cases. Head will get credit for the roughly 18 months he’s spent locked up already.

Head dragged Fanone into the mob on Jan. 6 while yelling “I got one!” and used a police shield to push against a line of police officers in the western-facing tunnel of the U.S. Capitol, where some of the most violent acts of the insurrection took place. He pleaded guilty to a felony charge of assaulting, resisting, or impeding officers. Fanone suffered a heart attack and traumatic brain injury in the Jan. 6 assault, and ended up resigning from the Metropolitan Police Department.

Fanone urged Judge Amy Berman Jackson to sentence Head to the maximum, saying that Head had cut his career in law enforcement short.  Judge Amy Berman Jackson called Head’s actions “some of the darkest acts committed on one of our nation’s darkest days.” She described former Officer Fanone as Head’s “prey” and his “trophy.” She also described Fanone as “protecting America” during the riot.

Fanone has testified before the Jan. 6 committee and recently wrote a book about the insurrection, but said the injuries he received has left him devastated that he lost his career in law enforcement:  “I would trade all of this attention to return to policing,” he said. “But I can’t do that.”

Darius Rucker loved doing 'Rucker's Reno,' but he's pretty sure the show's house is haunted

Darius Rucker had a lot of fun doing the Design Network show Rucker's Reno, which chronicles his experience of buying and renovating a historic house in his home city of Charleston, South Carolina. But he won't be spending the night at his newly renovated home anytime soon, he says.

“I can't sleep in the house now because it's haunted,” he reveals.

The house in question is about 220 years old and has a “complicated history,” as Darius explained when the show launched. With the house's history of being built entirely by enslaved people, it's no wonder that some spirits are still hanging around, the country star points out.

“You could feel it, you know? But of course it is [haunted],” he continues. “It was built in the 1700s.”

So, how did he discover that the house was haunted? “Noises!” Darius says, claiming it became very clear that he wasn't alone in the house, starting from the first night he tried to sleep there.

“The first night I was laying there and I turn the TV off — and the TV goes into the ceiling, you know — so I turn the TV off, and I was there for three minutes and I could feel it,” he recounts. “It's an old house. And it starts creaking and everything.”

Those noises were so convincing that he decided he had to sleep somewhere else. “I got up, put my shoes on and ran back outside to my other house,” he concludes with a laugh.

CMT to air ‘The Judds: Love Is Alive – The Final Concert’

CMT announced that Wynonna Judd will headline the concert event ‘The Judds: Love Is Alive – The Final Concert’ on Thursday, November 3rd at the Murphy Center at Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU), and will air a special televised event recreating The Judds 1991 Farewell Tour in March 2023.

Wynonna is honoring her mother’s legacy by including country’s biggest stars to join her onstage for The Judds: The Final Tour, which will continue for a second run into 2023. Its initial 11 date area fall run featured Ashley McBryde, Brandi Carlile, Kelsea Ballerini, Little Big Town, Martina McBride, who are all set to return for select dates on the second leg, with more special guests to be announced.

The Judds homecoming to MTSU will mark the largest concert to take place at the Murphy Center since Wynonna and her mother, Naomi Judd, had their final show together on The Judds Farewell Tour over three decades ago. Said Wynonna: “Stepping onstage at the Murphy Center for the first time since December 4, 1991 will be so surreal for me. It was an emotional night over 30 years ago and will be an emotional night, for different reasons, now.  I can’t wait to lean into the nostalgia with the artists who have made this tour so special, and recreate one of the most iconic nights in Judd ‘Herstory!’” Wynonna’s guests on The Judds: The Final Tour — McBryde, Carlile, Ballerini, Little Big Town and McBride — are also slated to join the special MTSU concert, who will be sharing the same bill for the first time ever, with additional special guests to be announced.

Tickets for ‘The Judds: Love Is Alive – The Final Concert’ are on-sale via Ticketmaster, with a portion of proceeds benefiting NAMI Tennessee.

Tyler Hubbard drops the video for ‘I’m The Only One’

Tyler Hubbard has dropped he video for “I’m The Only One,” one of the six tracks included on his Dancin’ In The Country project. The song was co-written by Tyler, Chris Loocke and Rhett Akins and will be included on his upcoming debut solo album, due out on January 27th.

Said Tyler: “This song is pure joy. ‘I’m The Only One’ is a song that feels classic and timeless – it’s for anyone who has love in their life, who’s found their partner. I feel so blessed to have my wife Hayley and think of her every time I sing this song. The music video was a blast to make. Just like the previous videos we’ve released, we really wanted to think outside the box and create a scene and a setting that was a little unique and unexpected. So, we did this one in a classic Nashville suit shop. The shop closes, and it’s party-time for me. I’m seen having a good time, trying on suits and making this shop my own. It’s just such a fun video.”

Tyler will also make his Grand Ole Opry debut as a solo artist on Friday, November 11th. Tickets are available at Opry.com.
