Kelsea Ballerini to bring Carly Pearce, Kelly Clarkson to the CMA Awards stage

Kelsea Ballerini, Carly Pearce and Kelly Clarkson will team up for a CMA Awards performance of their new collaboration, “You're Drunk, Go Home.”

A report from Billboard confirms the news after TMZ first reported the trio was teaming up for the awards show. “You're Drunk, Go Home” comes off of Kelsea's new Subject to Change album, which arrived in September. She was the one who orchestrated the all-star, all-female collab.

Back when she first announced the track, she described it as “a sassbomb yeehaw collab moment.”

Since then, Carly and Kelly have offered their perspective on the project: Kelly admits she might have been slightly inebriated while she was recording her part for the song, but she had a good excuse.

For her part, Carly stressed how special it was to collaborate with a good friend. She also said she's happy to be supporting Kelsea through her divorce from Morgan Evans, especially because back in 2020, Kelsea was there when Carly ended her marriage to Michael Ray.

Kelsea is up for Single of the Year at the 2022 CMA Awards thanks to “half of my hometown,” her collaboration with Kenny Chesney. Meanwhile, Carly is nominated in five categories. The 2022 CMA Awards will air live from Nashville's Bridgestone Arena on November 9 on ABC.

Kane Brown's wife celebrates his birthday: “God definitely spent a little more time on you”

Kane Brown turns 29 Friday, and for the family-focused country star, that means only one thing: celebrating with wife Katelyn and their two young daughters.

Katelyn marked the moment on social media, posting a carousel of shots of her husband in his element. The spread of pictures shows him performing onstage, hanging with their kids and drinking a glass of wine with his wife.

Though Kane's at the top of the game in country music, Katelyn chose to focus on his many other talents in her birthday tribute.

“The most amazing hubby, daddy, friend and all of the above,” she wrote. “God definitely spent a little more time on you and I feel so blessed to get to live this life with you. You impact everyone you come across and it's so effortless, you truly are something special.”

She ended her message by writing, “Love you more every day. Thank you Jesus for this man.”

That message of love is one that Kane — who often describes Katelyn as his “secret weapon” — frequently echoes back to her in his songs. Most recently, the two teamed up on their first duet, “Thank God,” which is Kane's current radio single.

Elle King contemplates a different way of life in the tongue-and-cheek “Try Jesus”

Elle King is continuing to roll out new tracks from her forthcoming country album, Come Get Your Wife, and the singer proves she'll try anything once — or twice — in new song “Try Jesus.”

“Try Jesus' came at a time I was trying to give my life over to something greater — and you can feel it,” Elle says. The song recounts a series of dud relationships, leading her to believe after all the guys she's tried to fall in love with that perhaps she should “Try Jesus.”

The music video for the song — which finds Elle shopping at the Dollar Mart Plus, with surprising results — has some aesthetics in common with the TV series The Righteous Gemstones, and for good reason: it was directed by actor Edi Patterson, who plays Judy Gemstone on the show.

The quirky clip stars Elle not only as herself, but as a series of no-good guys who try — and fail — to steal her heart. Finally she finds happiness, literally, with the help of a store clerk. His name? Jesus, of course.

Elle's full-length country debut is set to drop on January 27. It's available for preorder now.

Ashley McBryde announces date of her Grand Ole Opry induction ceremony

Ashley McBryde's got a very important date with the Grand Ole Opry: On December 10, she'll attend a special induction ceremony where she’ll officially become a member of the hallowed institution.

In case you missed it, Ashley got a surprise invite to join the Opry during an in-studio appearance on CBS Mornings earlier this month.

None other than Garth Brooks — a living legend and Opry member since 1990 — crashed her TV interview via video chat to extend the invitation, which left Ashley speechless and tearful. The singer's whole team was in on the surprise — her mom was even on hand for the moment, unbeknownst to Ashley.

To celebrate her Opry induction, Ashley has booked not one but two shows for the big day. You can catch her early show at 7 p.m. ET or her late show at 9:30 p.m. ET. Tickets for both are available now.

It's been a very busy few weeks for Ashley, who dropped her new, character-driven album Ashley McBryde Presents: Lindeville in late September. The singer will bring Lindeville to life with a two-night stand at Nashville's Ryman Auditorium, set for February 15 and 16.

'Merry Christmas, Y'all': Thomas Rhett drops a four-pack of holiday classics

It's (almost) the most wonderful time of the year, and as he gears up for the holiday season, Thomas Rhett is releasing a four-track collection of beloved Christmas songs.

The singer surprised fans with the new music on Friday, bringing his own signature style to some of the best-loved tunes of the season for his holiday release, Merry Christmas, Y'all. “Winter Wonderland,” “It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year,” “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” and “It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas” all get the TR treatment on this four-pack.

“I love everything about Christmas — there's nothing like the holiday season,” Thomas says in a statement. “I wanted to record some of the Christmas songs that my family and I enjoy every year. I hope this music gets everyone in the holiday spirit!”

Although the country star dropped his holiday release without announcing it first, there was at least one clue on his social media. The day before, he shared a video of himself listening to a classic recording of “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.”

You know what that sounds like?” he asks the camera amid the opening piano bars of the song. “A warm fire. Christmastime, baby.”

Liz Truss announces resignation after just 45 days as British prime minister

British Prime Minister Liz Truss resigned Thursday after just six weeks in office, following weeks of controversy following a reversed economic plan that sent the pound plunging and the government into chaos. Having been formally appointed by Queen Elizabeth II on Sept. 6 just days before the monarch’s death, Truss now becomes the shortest-serving prime minister in British history.

Complaints about Truss and her plans grew louder over the past weeks, not only from her opponents but fellow Conservatives as well, escalated further after a blunt resignation letter from ex-Home Secretary Suella Braverman was shared.  On Wednesday Truss assured Parliament during the weekly Prime Minister’s Questions session that she was a “fighter, not a quitter;” but just day later Truss quit, saying in a brief speech outside No. 10 Downing St.: “We delivered on energy bills and on cutting national insurance, and we set out a vision for a low tax, high growth economy — that would take advantage of the freedoms of Brexit … I recognize that given the situation, I cannot deliver the mandate on which I was elected by the Conservative Party. I have therefore spoken to his majesty the king to notify him that I am resigning as leader of the Conservative Party. I will remain as prime minister until a successor is chosen.”

A leadership contest is now underway to decide the next head of the ruling Conservative Party, who will by default become the next prime minister, and will conclude in the next week. The opposition Labour Party called for an immediate national election. Some are calling for Truss’s predecessor, Boris Johnson, to return just months after resigning under pressure from his own party amid a wave of scandals. Johnson’s former finance minister, Rishi Sunak, is a favorite to replace Truss; he came second to Truss in the race to succeed Johnson.

Missing Princeton University student Misrach Ewunetie found dead after week-long search

Missing Princeton University student Misrach Ewunetie was found dead Thursday, six days after she vanished on her way home from an event. Police confirmed that the 20-year-old’s body was found near the edge of the Ivy League campus. The Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office said Thursday afternoon that an employee discovered her body “outside on the Facilities grounds” near the tennis courts. Prosecutors said in a statement: “There were no obvious signs of injury and her death does not appear suspicious or criminal in nature.”

The high-achieving student was last seen near the Scully Hall dorm building around 3 a.m. on Oct. 14. Her brother said her phone had pinged near an off-campus housing complex about a 30 minute walk from her dorm before it went silent. Police scoured the housing complex three times with no luck, and school officials had sent out multiple alerts urging anyone with information on her disappearance to come forward.

Ewunetie’s family, who are originally from Ethiopia and now live in Ohio, alerted authorities on Saturday after they learned she’d missed an appointment for her US citizenship application. The family reported “they had not heard from her in several days,” and asked that officers perform a wellness check.

Police are urging anyone with information in the case to contact the Department of Public Safety at 609-258-1000.

Cody Johnson looks ahead to bigger stages, international shows and even a little bit of “cowboy work”

Cody Johnson is hoping to take a short, well-deserved break. “Right now, we're slowing down a little bit,” he says.

After all, it's been a very busy year for the rising star. He notched massive hits with singles like “Til You Can't” and “Human,” and as awards show season nears, that success is paying off even more: He's the most-nominated country artist at the 2022 American Music Awards and is nominated in four categories at the CMA Awards, too.

“We've been hard at it this year touring all over the country; so many fans, so many sold-out shows. It's been really intense. It's been awesome,” Cody reflects.

But any downtime the singer's able to snag won't last too long. He's gearing up to get back to work soon, not only with another robust touring schedule in 2023, but also with a quick return to his former career as a rodeo star.

“I'm getting ready to go rope at the World Series finale in Vegas with all my rope horses. So I've got a little bit of cowboy work left to do,” Cody reveals.

“But in 2023, we're not only stepping up our stages, we're getting to go outside the country with Luke Combs,” he says. “We're going to Australia. It's going to be a great year next year.”
