Blake Shelton, Jimmie Allen, Dan + Shay + more will be spending Christmas in Rockefeller Center

Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani are among the stars bringing holiday cheer to New York City this season, as they sign on for NBC's annual Christmas in Rockefeller tree lighting and special.

“This is one of those things you grew up hearing about,” Gwen explains to TODAY. “I was from Los Angeles, so I never went to New York when I was a little girl. So it's even a bigger deal for me to be here and be part of this.”

The duo — who are performing their festive duet, “You Make it Feel Like Christmas” — are one of a number of performing acts with country connections.

Jimmie Allen, Dan + Shay, Brett Eldredge and Mickey Guyton are all also a part of the holiday special.

Plenty of razzle-dazzle will be furnished by stars from other genres, too. Alicia Keys, The Shindellas, Katharine McPhee and the Muppets of Sesame Street are all also on the bill.

2022 marks the 90th annual iteration of the Rockefeller Center tree lighting tradition. The ceremony dates back to 1933, and Rockefeller Center has been putting Christmas trees in its plaza since 1931.

The Christmas in Rockefeller Center special airs November 30 from 8 to 10 p.m. ET. After that, the tree will be lit every day through Christmas from 6 a.m. to 12 a.m. ET.

Carly Pearce shares some snapshots as she starts her next record: “I can't wait to share where I am”

After dropping several hints about new music on the way, Carly Pearce is ready to formally start her next chapter.

The singer is currently in the studio working on her next record. She shared some snapshots of the process with her fans, and a note that reflects on what's going on in her life, both musically and personally.

“I told y'all I've been loving what I've been writing — so it's time to start the next record, which we did this week,” Carly wrote alongside the images. “So much has changed in my life, for the good. I can't wait to share where I am.”

In the pictures she shared, we see Carly standing at a microphone and in conversation with her collaborators. The final shot is a close-up image of a page of music, the phrase “We Don't Fight Anymore” written across the top of the page.

When Carly's next album arrives, it will be the follow-up to 29: Written in Stone, a batch of songs that chronicle the loss, heartbreak and grief she experienced during a challenging couple of years. Those years were dominated by a few major events in her life, including her divorce from fellow singer Michael Ray and the death of her longtime producer, Busbee.

“High Note”: Dierks Bentley's new Billy Strings collab features the who's who of bluegrass greats

Dierks Bentley leans into his rootsy side in “High Note,” a duet with Grammy-winning bluegrass star Billy Strings.

Billy provides raucous vocal harmony on this twangy barnburner, and that isn't all: He also demonstrates his famed guitar chops with a special instrumental feature. In fact, the song doubles as an all-star bluegrass jam session, with the legendary Jerry Douglas on dobro, Sam Bush on mandolin and acoustic flatpicker Bryan Sutton furnishing another guitar line.

It was Bryan who first introduced Dierks to Billy's talents about seven years ago, the country star explains in a statement, saying that it started with a comment from Bryan that “the future of bluegrass was in good hands.”

Dierks continues, “I've cut songs like this since my first record, and I knew I wanted to have [Billy] on this one, I'm such a huge fan. It was a lot of fun to have him, Jerry, Sam and Bryan all passing licks around — having them all on this record means a lot to me personally.”

“High Note” follows “Gold,” the first single off of Dierks' upcoming new album.

The great cranberry sauce debate: Thomas Rhett + more weigh in on this controversial Thanksgiving dish

Thanksgiving is just around the corner, which means that lots of country stars are headed home for the holidays and, of course, a big family meal.

But if you're planning to bring cranberry sauce to your Thanksgiving party, be warned — it's a pretty polarizing dish. Dinner guests tend to either love or hate it, and country stars are no different.

If you're headed to Conner Smith or Gary LeVox's house for Thanksgiving, you better come prepared with a green bean casserole or a pumpkin pie instead, because neither of them are fans of cranberry.

“Cranberry sauce doesn't do anything for me. I've never looked at that and wanted to eat it,” Conner says in an interview with his record label.

“I could just care less about the cranberry sauce, I really could,” Gary agrees in a separate interview.

Brett Young's not a fan either — though it's a “tradition” for his family, he tells CMT, so it's usually on the table.

Thomas Rhett admits he's just confused about why the dish is part of Thanksgiving dinner at all. “I need to probably go back into the history books to understand why, but that is one item that I skip over every time,” he says.

But don't throw out that can of cranberry sauce, especially if Carly Pearce is your Thanksgiving dinner guest. She says it's always on her “perfect Thanksgiving plate” along with turkey, dressing, gravy, sweet potato and pie.

And if you're anything like Trisha Yearwood, maybe you'll just update your cranberry sauce into something a little more refined. Check out her cranberry relish recipe for a fresh twist on a holiday staple.

Nancy Pelosi stepping down as House Democratic leader after two decades

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is stepping down from House Democratic leadership but will remain in Congress. The 82-year-old Pelosi made the announcement in a floor speech on Thursday, and received a standing ovation from her colleagues. Noting she will continue to represent her San Francisco, California district, Pelosi said: “I will not seek reelection to Democratic leadership in the next Congress. The hour has come for a new generation to lead the Democratic caucus that I so deeply respect.”  She later tweeted:  “Thank you all — and may God continue to bless the United States of America.”

Pelosi was the the first woman to hold House speakership, and is the Democratic Party’s longest-serving House leader. Her decision will have a major impact on Democrats in their new position as House minority. Republicans officially won majority control in the U.S. House, ending a four-year Democratic majority despite a strong midterm showing for the party. As of Thursday morning, Republicans had captured 218 seats in the chamber compared to Democrats 211.

The announcement comes weeks after her husband, Paul Pelosi, was attacked in their family home in California, a crime believed to be politically motivated.  Pelosi had said the attack on her husband Paul would impact her decision to stay in House leadership post-midterms.

President Joe Biden said of Pelosi in a statement: “History will note she is the most consequential speaker of the House of Representatives in our history. There are countless examples of how she embodies the obligation of elected officials to uphold their oath to God and country to ensure our democracy delivers and remains a beacon to the world. In everything she does, she reflects a dignity in her actions and a dignity she sees in the lives of the people of this nation.”
