Dolly Parton buried an unheard song in a time capsule that won't see the light of day until 2045

Dolly Parton's got a brand-new, never-before-heard song on the way – and if you wait around until 2045, you can hear it.

During a sit-down on The Kelly Clarkson Show, Dolly explained that the song is part of a time capsule that she created for her theme park, Dollywood.

But the country legend admits she sort of regrets including a piece of unreleased music in that box. “I tell you, you have no idea how that has bothered me. I wanna go dig that up,” Dolly says, pointing out that she's concerned the tape might disintegrate underground before it gets a chance to be unearthed.

“I need to use that song! It's a really good song,” she continues. “I'll be 99 years old when they open it … they weren't expecting me to be there when they open it, and I probably won't be.”

Dolly and her fans might have to wait for another decade or so to hear that particular song, but she's still got plenty of other music coming out before then. For one thing, the singer is hard at work on an album of rock music, which she was inspired to make after her induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

The country legend also added to her acting repertoire this year, starring in the NBC holiday movie Dolly Parton’s Mountain Magic Christmas. The film aired earlier this month.

“Giddy Up”: Shania Twain teases the release of the next song off her 'Queen of Me' album

Shania Twain's new album, Queen of Me, comes out in early February – but fans won't have to wait that long to hear new music.

The singer just shared that “Giddy Up,” a new song off the project, will be available to listen to just after the new year. In a social media post, Shania rocks a bedazzled cowboy hat for the occasion, with the title of the song spelled out in jewels across the brim.

“I am here with some news that will put a spring in your step, a bounce in your heart … some up in your giddy!” she writes.

“I'm super excited for you all to hear this one,” the singer adds, saying, “it's all about letting loose and doing the things that make you giddy!”

That message of self-confidence is a theme in Queen of Me. The song's lead single, “Waking Up Dreaming,” is also a celebration of learning to love who you are.

In fact, Shania posed topless for the cover art of “Waking Up Dreaming,” a move that she told People was all about underscoring the comfort she feels in her own skin, especially as she ages.

“I am not regressing. I am embracing my body as it changes, as I should have from my childhood to my teens, as I should be from my taut, 20s and 30-year-old self, to my menopausal body,” says the singer, who is 57. “I'm not going to be shy about it. I want to be courageous about it, and I want to share that courage in the artwork that I am directing.”

“Giddy Up” will arrive on January 5.

Zac Brown Band isn't letting John Driskell Hopkins' ALS diagnosis stand in the way of onstage joy

Zac Brown Band is known for their immersive, high-energy live shows – and that's not changing anytime soon, even though member John Driskell Hopkins is currently battling amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, also known as Lou Gehrig's disease.

In conversation with the Tennessean, ZBB's Coy Bowles explains that the band is focusing on every second they get to play onstage with John.

“We can't allow ourselves to think about [Hopkins' ALS diagnosis] as a super-defining negative because we love him so much,” Coy explains. “So our mind frame around it has been focused on making the most of the fact that he's still out there with us.”

The band has also been finding ways to use their connection to the degenerative disease for a good cause. In 2022, they played a sold-out benefit show at Nashville's Ryman Auditorium to raise awareness of ALS and money for research toward a cure.

Now, ZBB is still rocking: They're on the bill for New Year's Eve Live: Nashville's Big Bash, which will air from Music City to ring in 2023.

“Humans gathering together to celebrate the power of music is exciting,” Coy adds. “We're firing on all cylinders and probably having the best time [onstage] we've ever had.”

U.S. Postal Service to invest $9.6 billion in electric vehicle fleet

The U.S. Postal Service announced it will invest $9.6 billion to make the switch into a 100% electric vehicle fleet in the next five years. The USPS plans to acquire a fleet that is 100% electric in 2026, making it one of the largest electric vehicle fleets in the United States. Postmaster General Louis DeJoy said: “We have a statutory requirement to deliver mail and packages to 163 million addresses six days per week and to cover our costs in doing so — that is our mission. As I have said in the past, if we can achieve those objectives in a more environmentally responsible way, we will do so.”

The postal service ramped up its move toward electric vehicles earlier this year after public outcry and a lawsuit alleged it was not doing enough to reduce its carbon footprint. USPS more than doubled its inventory of electric vehicles, putting 25,000 NGDVs to work. USPS will increase its number of Next Generation Delivery Vehicles to at least 60,000, about 45,000 of which will be powered by battery by 2028. About 21,000 will be commercially purchased vehicles. Congress approved $3 billion toward the initiative as part of the Inflation Reduction Act.

The White House has worked to increase the number of electric vehicles on the road with a goal of 50% of new vehicles sold in 2030 to be all electric. Sales of electric vehicles in the United States have tripled since President Joe Biden took office. John Podesta, Senior Advisor to the President, said: “We commend the U.S. Postal Service. The USPS plan leverages the $3 billion provided by the Inflation Reduction Act to hit the target of 100% electric delivery vehicle purchases in 2026, sets the postal fleet on a course for electrification, significantly reduces vehicles miles traveled in the network, and places USPS at the forefront of the clean transportation revolution.”

Two dead, 11 hurt after magnitude-6.4 California earthquake

At least two people were killed and 11 more injured on Tuesday due to a magnitude-6.4 earthquake off the coast of Ferndale in Humboldt County, California. The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office of Emergency Services said in statement that the two deaths were “as a result of medical emergencies.”

Power remained off for almost 70,000 customers as of Tuesday afternoon in the county after the earthquake struck about 7.5 miles southwest of Ferndale at 2:34 a.m. PST, activating the U.S. Geological Survey’s Shake Alert system. No tsunami warnings were issued. The area was then rocked by dozens of aftershocks in the same general area, one as strong as magnitude 4.6, resulting in minor damage to some buildings. Moderate damage to properties throughout the Eel River Valley is being reported.

The tremor also damaged the Fernbridge northeast of Ferndale. The California Department of Transportation tweeted along with a photo of the damaged bridge: “State Route 211 is closed while we conduct safety inspections due to possible seismic damage.”  Humboldt County confirmed on its website that a handful of other routes were also impassible.  The Governor’s Office of Emergency Services confirmed on Twitter it is “working with local and state partners to ensure the safety of Californians and availability of resources”, and Gov. Gavin Newsom said on Twitter: the State is sending in our best people to support … Be prepared for aftershocks. Check gas and water lines for damages or leaks. Stay safe.”

The California Department of Conservation said Tuesday’s quak is the largest to strike Northern California in years, and could be the most powerful since July 2019 when a 7.1-magnitude earthquake struck near Ridgecrest in the south of the state.

Jason Aldean's “soaking in the memories” this season since his kids are “the perfect age”

It’s that time of year when Jason Aldean‘s officially slipping into full-time dad mode.

For him, the holiday season’s extra special because of his two youngest kids.

“Oh, it’s fun, you know?” he tells ABC Audio. “Memphis will be 5 and Navy‘s 3. She’s almost 4. So it’s like the perfect age for them, you know? And it’s really fun.”

“As a parent, you get excited about waking up, and watching them be excited and do all those things.”

When the Georgia native finally comes off the road for the year, he’s focused on making up for lost time.

“For us, it’s about just spending some family time,” Jason says. “We’re gone, I’m traveling a lot throughout the year. So holidays are a time where I try to be home and spend as much time with them as possible, and kind of soak in all those memories and things like that.”

Jason doesn’t hit the road again until he heads to Scottsdale, Arizona, on February 9, but he is set to play New Year’s Eve Live: Nashville’s Big Bash on CBS on December 31.
