Four years in, “Settling Down” never looked better for Miranda Lambert

Miranda Lambert marks four years of wedded bliss on January 26.

“Celebrating 4 years married today with my main squeeze @brendanjmcloughlin,” she shared on her socials Thursday. “Happy anniversary babe! You are the best.”

In the accompanying photos, Miranda and Brendan McLoughlin are standing on a balcony overlooking the beach. In the first picture, she’s beaming, wearing pink shorts and a pink bandana, showing off her wedding ring, as her hubby kisses her on the cheek.

In subsequent snapshots, the former New York City policeman sheds his shirt, which has become a bit of a running gag with the couple.

“Y'all are welcome for the last two pics,” ‘Randa slyly adds.

The “Settling Down” hitmaker has indicated she doesn’t plan to tour much this year, outside of her extensive Vegas residency. Her first cookbook, Y’all Eat Yet?, is set to arrive April 25.

Hey baby, let's go to Vegas: 'American Idol' season 21's headed to Sing City

Luke Bryan‘s ready to roll the dice on a new season of American Idol.

“21 years of making dreams come true on @americanidol! Can't wait to get this season started on Feb 19th on @abcnetwork,” he shared on his socials, along with the show’s new art and a new promo.

The photos show Luke, Katy PerryLionel Richie and Ryan Seacrest posing alongside a retro slot machine. That’s perhaps a sly nod to the fact that both Luke and Katy have ongoing Vegas residencies at Resorts World, while Lionel’s had one at the Wynn.

The new promo continues the same theme, adding a “g” to transform Sin City into Sing City.

Season 21 of American Idol kicks off Sunday, February 19, at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.

Get ready to “Drinkaby” with Cole Swindell

What’s a “Drinkaby”? Well, it’s Cole Swindell‘s new single, and it rhymes with lullaby or rockabye.

“Jack, gin, ‘quila, lime, apple pie, this is my/ Gettin’ over her ’til I’m passed out drinkaby,” Cole sings in the uptempo track. While it won’t be out until Friday, you can get a sneak peek in a video that recaps his recent Crash My Playa experience.

Stay tuned to see what’s next from Cole albumwise. Interestingly, “Drinkaby” is not on his most recent record, Stereotype, which came out in April last year. It does contain his smash “She Had Me at Heads Carolina,” of course, as well as his previous number ones, “Never Say Never” with Lainey Wilson and “Single Saturday Night.”

Luke Combs is 'Gettin' Old' on his new record

Luke Combs just revealed the title and cover art for his new album, which comes out March 24.

The CMA Entertainer of the Year’s fourth album will be called Gettin’ Old and depicts half his face on the cover, in front of a farmhouse at night.

“This album is about the stage of life I'm in right now,” Luke reveals in an Instagram post. “One that I'm sure a lot of us are in, have been through, or will go through. It's about coming of age, loving where life is now but at the same time missing how it used to be, continuing to fall for the one you love and loving them no matter what, living in the moment but still wondering how much time you have left, family, friends, being thankful, and leaving a legacy.”

“Me and so many others have poured their hearts and souls into this record and I hope you love it as much as we do,” he adds.

The title track, “Growin' Up and Gettin' Old,” comes out on Friday, which seems to make the new record a companion piece to his previous one, Growin’ Up, which came out last June. Earlier this week, Luke shared a performance of the song on his socials.

President Biden approves sending 31 Abrams tanks to Ukraine

President Biden announced Wednesday that the United States will send 31 M1 Abrams battle tanks to Ukraine, which will provide a major boost to Ukrainian firepower over the coming months. Flanked by Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, the President said at the White House: “Today, I’m announcing that the United States will be sending 31 Abrams tanks to Ukraine, the equivalent of one Ukrainian battalion.”  The Pentagon said the security package is worth roughly $400 million. The delivery of the Abrams tanks will take several months, given the time needed to procure them and train Ukrainian troops on their use.

The move comes after Germany said it is providing 14 of its own Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine and allow Western partners to re-export their own. Biden noted that France, the U.K., Finland, the Netherlands and other nations are also sending key security assistance, and said that the United States’ move is part of a concerted effort by Western allies: “Today’s announcement builds on the hard work and commitment from countries around the world, led by the United States of America, to help Ukraine defend its sovereignty and its territorial integrity. That’s what this is about, helping Ukraine protect and defend Ukrainian land. It is not an offensive threat to Russia. There is no offensive threat to Russia. If Russian troops return to Russia … where they belong, this war would be over today.”

Biden said the M1 Abrams is the U.S. military’s main tank system and “the most capable tanks in the world.”  The Abrams tanks and other armored vehicles are key to helping Ukraine fight the Russians on open terrain, like that found in the mostly flat Donbas region, which has seen intense fighting between Ukraine and Russia-backed separatists since 2014.

Meta says Trump suspension from Facebook and Instagram platforms will end

Social media giant Meta announced Wednesday that former President Donald Trump’s Facebook and Instagram accounts are being reinstated, over two years after he was suspended from the platforms over incendiary posts on the Jan. 6 riot at the Capitol.  Nick Clegg, president of global affairs at Meta (which owns Facebook and Instagram) said Trump’s accounts will be reinstated “in the coming weeks … with new guardrails in place to deter repeat offenses.” Clegg said on the company’s website that those guardrails will include “heightened penalties for repeat offenses — penalties which will apply to other public figures whose accounts are reinstated from suspensions related to civil unrest under our updated protocol. In the event that Mr. Trump posts further violating content, the content will be removed and he will be suspended for between one month and two years, depending on the severity of the violation.”

The move comes weeks after the timeframe Facebook gave itself to re-evaluate the 2021 decision. House Speaker Kevin McCarthy vowed to “rein in big tech power over our speech” after Facebook announced the duration of Trump’s suspension in 2021.  Additionally, Trump’s presidential campaign officially petitioned Meta to allow Trump back on to the platform earlier this month, writing in a letter dated Jan. 17th: “We believe that the ban on President Trump’s account on Facebook has dramatically distorted and inhibited the public discourse.”

Facebook announced in June 2021 that it was banning Trump from Facebook and Instagram until at least January 2023 for a “severe violation of our rules” stemming from his role in the Jan. 6 riot. The ban was initially slated to last 24 hours, but was extended until the end of his term by Facebook co-founder Mark Zuckerberg, who said the “risks of allowing the President to continue to use our service during this period are simply too great … therefore, we are extending the block we have placed on his Facebook and Instagram accounts indefinitely and for at least the next two weeks until the peaceful transition of power is complete.”  Trump was also permanently banned from Twitter at the time, but his account was reinstated on Nov. 19 by the platform’s new owner, Elon Musk.  About a year after leaving office, Trump launched his own social media site called ‘Truth Social.’  Trump’s reach on Truth Social is not nearly as large as it was on the other platforms. He has slightly more than 4.8 million followers on Truth Social, compared to nearly 88 million on Twitter and 34 million on Facebook.

Elle King talks “fistfights,” “throwing elbows” and 'Come Get Your Wife'

The explanation for the title of Elle King‘s first full-length country album, Come Get Your Wife, is every bit as colorful as you might expect from the “Ex’s and Oh’s” rocker.

“In the past 10 years of my life, the only fistfights I’ve ever gotten into were at concerts,” she begins. “And it was usually sticking up for somebody else. But that’s kind of what happened. You know, people giving elbows.”

This time, however, it was Elle who was throwing a few jabs.

“In the sense of the title of my album, the elbows I was throwing were just inappropriate jokes,” she recalls. “And, you know, somebody shouted over me to my partner, ‘Come get your wife!'”

“And I was like, ‘Oh, that’s a good album title,'” she laughs.

Come Get Your Wife comes out Friday, January 27, and features Elle’s second country #1, “Drunk (And I Don’t Want to Go Home)” with Miranda Lambert, as well as her current single with Dierks Bentley, “Worth a Shot.” Elle’s first country #1 was 2016’s “Different for Girls” with Dierks.

Friday morning, Elle celebrates her new record’s release with an appearance on ABC’s Good Morning America.
