Architect of the Capitol fired after accusations of ethical violations

The White House confirmed in a statement on Monday that J. Brett Blanton, Architect of the Capitol, was fired Monday after several lawmakers called for his removal. Blanton has been under fire since a November report accused him of ethics violations and improperly using government property.

Among the several allegations by the Capitol’s Office of Inspector General were that Blanton gave tours of the building while it was closed during COVID-19 protocol in 2020, and that he impersonated a police officer. Committee on House Administration chair Rep. Bryan Steil, R-Wis., said in a statement: “The Architect of the Capitol plays a key role in preserving the Capitol campus and should be focused on ensuring the institution works for Members, Committees, staff, and most importantly, the American people. The Inspector General’s report was highly concerning, which is, in part, why our first hearing was dedicated to providing oversight over the AOC. His refusal to be transparent and truthful has made clear that he can no longer lead the organization and must resign immediately.”

Despite being appointed by former President Donal Trump, the calls for Blanton’s resignation came from both parties, with House Speaker Kevin McCarthy tweeting Monday morning: “After being given the opportunity to respond to numerous allegations of legal, ethical, and administrative violations, and failing to directly respond, the president has removed Mr. Brett Blanton from his position — a decision I firmly stand behind.”  Blanton was grilled about the report during hearings last week, where he said at the time, “I wholeheartedly reject any assertion that I have engaged in unethical behavior during my service to this country while serving in this particular role.”

Raised on romance: Why the spirit of Valentine's Day runs in Chris Young's family

When it comes to the most romantic Valentine’s Day gesture ever, Chris Young says that’s not a competition he ever plans to enter.

That’s because he got to witness someone hitting it out of the park when he was just a kid.

“There’s no way I can ever top this. I cannot top this,” Chris declares. “Whenever I talk about my dad, I’m actually referring to my stepdad because my mom was a single parent for a while.”

“He asked her to marry him on Valentine’s Day, and then had me and my sister come down to ask for our permission,” he recalls. “So he wins. There’s nothing I can do about that, like, come on!”

Of course, Chris has had plenty of hit love songs, with his latest one, “Looking for You,” climbing the chart now.

ERNEST releases deluxe edition of ‘Flower Shops’ with 13 new tracks

ERNEST has released the deluxe edition of his album FLOWER SHOPS, with 13 added tracks — bringing the updated version to 24 tracks total — ‘a bouquet of Two Dozen Roses.’

The project is dubbed ‘FLOWER SHOPS (THE ALBUM): Two Dozen Roses,’ and ERNEST says: “I think that these songs, when I looked up after six or seven months of writing, it just felt like a continuation of Flower Shops more so than trying to brand it as a whole new album. So then I thought of interesting ways to do it, and having 24 total songs and calling it Two Dozen Roses was kind of a fun concept.”

ERNEST will also be heading out on the road with Morgan Wallen in support of Wallen’s One Night At A Time World Tour, kicking-off on Wednesday, March 15 in Auckland, NZ at the Spark Arena. The U.S. leg of the tour begins on April 14 with back-to-back nights at Milwaukee’s American Family Field.

Country Music Cruise shares 2024 lineup including Tracy Lawrence, Clint Black

The 2024 lineup for the ‘Country Music Cruise’ has been announced, including Tracy Lawrence, Shenandoah, Clint Black, Billy Dean, Darryl Worley, Neal McCoy, Joe Nichols — with more artists expected to be announced in the near future.

Said Lawrence: “I had such a great time several years ago when I got to go, and made some really amazing friends that I stayed in touch with. I ended up spending a lot of time at the blackjack table that week and just met some really interesting people. I really made it a point to work the ship, and hang out at different spots and meet a lot of the different folks. My family, we’ve enjoyed taking cruises for many years. We’ve been to a lot of different destinations. We’ve been all over the Caribbean, and we’ve been to Hawaii, on a lot of different boats. But this one is really special. I really just embrace the whole thing. And having that aspect for the fans, and being able to have a good time with all the great types of music, it’s really awesome.”

Shenandoah’s lead singer Marty Raybon added: “Every time you go out of your cabin, there’s somebody there that’s gonna want to get to know you. But the great thing about it is, you’re gonna get a chance and an opportunity to get to know them too. For 36 years, that’s what our career’s been, is making people that just came to a show who was an acquaintance turn into some really good friendships. And through the years, we’ve made a bunch of them. And, it gives our band guys, our crew, and their family, it gives them a wonderful opportunity to vacation.”

Other artists performing on the cruise include Wade Hayes, Linda Davis, Jimmy Fortune, Moe Bandy and more, with additional artists expected to be announced in the near future.

The Country Music Cruise sets sail on January 20 from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, stopping in Grand Turk, Key West and Half Moon Cay, before returning on January 27. Cabins are on sale now; for more information, head to https://countrymusiccruise.com.

Let the Pardi begin: Jon & Summer are ready for Presley's entrance

The countdown is on for the birth of Jon Pardi‘s first child. While we do know that Jon and his wife, Summer, plan to name their little girl Presley Fawn, of course, we don’t know exactly when she’ll arrive.

“In honor of Presley's original due date today,” Summer shared on Friday, “took the last week off from weights and just did cardio, but that hasn't done the trick so let's try this again.” In the accompany video, Summer’s working out with TRX gear, ropes and doing wall squats.

On Sunday, the social media influencer documented what she was packing in her hospital bag. By Monday, she was back to working out: “Keeping these ankles de-puffed,” she quipped

As for dad, he’s been pretty quiet on socials since playing the Opry a week ago. He doesn’t work again until he plays the Houston Rodeo on March 8, which should hopefully give him plenty of time to spend with his new daughter.

Stapleton's anthem is right up there with Whitney's, according to Jimmie Allen

Jimmie Allen‘s a big fan of the national anthem, but maybe not so much of the outcome of Sunday’s game.

The “Down Home” hitmaker shared his Super Bowl thoughts on Monday, revealing he was actually at the game at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, Sunday evening.

“My God!! Chris Stapleton gave me chills,” Jimmie tweeted. “Haven't felt that since Whitney[Houston] sang the Anthem. Being in the stadium hearing him sing it live, I could feel the unity we all desire and hope for living in this country.”

As for the final score, Jimmie’s probably less enthusiastic, though he managed to keep it positive.

“Proud of my @Eagles,” he said. “GREAT season fellas! Let's get back at it next season!!!”

Of course, the Philadelphia Eagles lost to the Kansas City Chiefs 35 to 38.

Is Kelsea Ballerini addressing her divorce with new EP & short film?

Kelsea Ballerini is Rolling up the Welcome Mat for a new short film.

“six songs. one short film. all rolling up at midnight, valentine's day,” she shared on her socials, along with a short clip from the project she wrote and directed herself.

The release date of her latest work, February 14, and the content of the clip seem to hint at the fact it may be inspired by her recent divorce. In August, she announced she and Morgan Evans were splitting up after nearly five years of marriage.

The darkly lit clip shows broken dishes, a closeup on an engagement ring and the flash of paparazzi, along with several shots of a man. “I’m the only one, alone at a table meant for two,” Kelsea sings.

The six tracks included in the film and its accompanying EP are: “Mountain with a View,” “Just Married,” “Penthouse,” “Interlude,” “Blindsided” and “Leave Me Again.”

Kelsea’s most recent album, Subject to Change, came out in September, shortly after she announced her divorce, though the record was finished prior to the announcement. Its second single, “If You Go Down (I’m Goin’ Down Too),” is just starting its climb up the chart.
