Katelyn & Kane Brown “Thank God” for their first #1 together

This week, Katelyn Brown achieved her very first country #1, as she and her husband, Kane, ascend to the top of the chart with “Thank God.”

The couple confirmed the feat on their socials, sharing a photo of them embracing as they both make the universal sign for #1.

“I don't even know what to say,” Katelyn reflected in another post. “There are absolutely no words big enough to express the feeling.”

“I truly thought this song would be just a really cute cut on his album and now it's the #1 song,” she reveals. “What is even more special is the fact I get to do this with the love of my life and our baby girls get to watch … My heart is filled with so much joy and gratitude and I can't thank everyone enough for the love & support and for loving this song as much as we do.”

Katelyn and Kane tied the knot in October 2018 and welcomed their daughter Kingsley a year later. Their second daughter, Kodi, arrived in December 2021.

Even though this is her first trip to the top of the chart, Katelyn certainly has plenty of musical cred in her own right, having graduated from Berklee College of Music in 2019.

U.S. shoots downs object over Lake Huron in Michigan

U.S. Air Force F-16 fighter jets shot down an object flying over Lake Huron on Sunday. It is the fourth aerial object to be shot down over North America, and the third object over the United States in nine days, begining on Feb. 4 when a U.S. fighter jet downed a high-altitude surveillance balloon believed to be part of a near-global China spying campaign. China maintains that the balloon shot down on Feb. 4 was an unmanned civilian airship that veered off course into U.S. airspace.

In a statement Sunday evening, Pentagon press secretary Brig. Gen. Pat Ryder confirmed the shoot down, saying the unidentified object was flying at about 20,000 feet over Lake Huron in Michigan when it was felled by a Sidewinder short-range air-to-air missile at 2:42 p.m. EST.

Though only the first object shot down has been publicly identified as a spy balloon deployed by China, Senate majority leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., said Sunday that two other objects downed over Alaska on Friday and Canada’s northwestern Yukon territory on Saturday were likely similar balloons. Ryder said the path and altitude of the object downed Sunday posed a threat to civil aviation and it was shot over Lake Michigan in an effort to avoid debris hitting civilians and structures. Said Ryder: “There are no indications of any civilians hurt or otherwise affected.”

NORAD  had first detected the object Saturday. A “radar anomaly” had been picked it up, with officials stating the object had flown in proximity to sensitive Defense Department sites.  The Pentagon said Sunday: “We did not assess it to be a kinetic military threat to anything on the ground, but assess it was a safety hazard and a threat due to its potential surveillance capabilities. Our team will now work to recover the object in an effort to learn more.”

No loops or click tracks: Chase Rice travels back to 2010 for 'I Hate Cowboys & All Dogs Go to Hell'

In spite of its ironic title, I Hate Cowboys & All Dogs Go to HellChase Rice says his new album is “the most vulnerable [he’s] ever been.”

To get to the heart, the North Carolina native got back to basics.

“First and foremost, the way we recorded, it’s different,” he tells ABC Audio. “The way I wrote the songs … all on acoustic guitars. There’s no tracks on this record that I wrote to. … It kinda feels like 2010 again for me.”

Chase had a hand in writing all of the album’s 13 songs, including penning three by himself. And just like he didn’t write to prerecorded loops, he also decided to forego using “click tracks” – a common way to keep a song in perfect time.

“The speed of the song is based off of the human feel and however much slow or fast we felt like playing it that take,” he explains. “And so that’s the first thing I think people are gonna feel and hear.”

“The way we recorded it was different, where we found the right keys, we got in there with a studio band in my house, which we’ve never done before,” he points out. “The way I’m singing is different just because, like I said, we found the right keys for each song. I’m not screaming. I sang way too high on a lot of these songs in the past.”

The album’s cover is a photo of his late father, Daniel Rice.

Next up, Chase makes a Valentine’s Day stop at the Grand Ole Opry before hitting the road on his Way Down Yonder Tour.

Chiefs defeat Eagles 38–35 to win Super Bowl LVII; QB Patrick Mahomes crowned MVP

The Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Philadelphia Eagles in a 38–35 victory, with Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes crowned as the MVP of Super Bowl LVII on Sunday night.

The 27-year-old Mahomes claimed his second career Super Bowl MVP after finishing 21-of-27 for 182 yards, three touchdowns and zero interceptions. After trailing most of the game, Mahomes led Kansas City to a comeback victory.

The stellar performance from Mahomes came despite appearing to re-aggravate a right ankle injury he previously sustained in the divisional round; he hobbled off to the Chiefs’ sideline in noticeable pain and grimaced as he sat on the bench and spoke to the training staff. In the second half, K.C. outscored Philly following four scores on all four of their drives. The two-time MVP tossed two more down the stretch to keep even with the Eagles with a 35-35 score before kicker Harrison Butker followed a big Eagles holding penalty with a 27-yard field goal with eight seconds left to clinch the franchise’s third ever Vince Lombardi Trophy.

Kane Brown and Katelyn Brown’s ‘Thank God’ hits #1 on country radio

Kane Brown and Katelyn Brown’s “Thank God” has hit #1 on the Billboard Country Airplay chart, marking Kane’s 9th career chart-topper and Katelyn’s first.

“Thank God,” released in September as part of Brown’s album, Different Man., was written by Josh Hoge, Jaxson Free, Kyle Fishman, Christian Davis, and Jared Mullins. Kane previously shared how the song ultimately became a duet with his wife: “So me and Kate have been trying to release a song for like five years now. And we kept getting songs coming in, we thought that you know, each of them was the song for us but it never felt right. So my buddy Josh, that’s signed to my publishing deal, he sent me a song called Thank God and I listened to it and I fell in love with it. And then kept listened to it and kept listening to it. I was like, this could be a duet. So I asked Kate and Kate fell in love with the song and now it’s one of my favorite songs.”

The success of “Thank God” follows Brown’s latest No.1 hits, “Like I Love Country Music” and “One Mississippi.”

Rihanna reveals pregnancy as she takes the stage for Super Bowl LVII halftime show

Rihanna made her return to live performing on Sunday during the Super Bowl LVII Halftime show, treating fans to a medley of a dozen of her best-known songs at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Ariz.  The superstar also revealed another surprise; a baby bump.  Following Rihanna’s performance, a rep for the artist confirmed that she is pregnant with her second child.

Wearing a red jumpsuit over a tight-fitting latex bandeau, Rihanna opened the show with her 2015 song “[____] Better Have My Money” as she was lowered down to the stage on one of several floating platforms that she and her backup dancers used throughout the show. At the ground-level stage, Rihanna was accompanied by dozens of dancers dressed in all-white jumpsuits. Other hit songs followed, including with “Where Have You Been?,” “Only Girl in the World,” “We Found Love,” “Rude Boy,” “Work,” “Wild Thoughts,” “Pour It Up” and “All of the Lights,” and a band joined the performance during the final three songs of the night — “Run This Town,” “Umbrella” and “Diamonds, ” as fireworks erupted from the stadium.

Despite speculation, Rihanna had no surprise guests join her on stage – unlike other recent Super Bowl halftime performances. Prior to the show, Rihanna was tight-lipped about her performance, telling reporters: “It’s a lot of preparation. This is the week that everything is being tested. Everyone is just tightening up. Everybody’s dialing in. Everybody’s tuning up … It’s literally like 300 to 400 people breaking the stage down, building it up and getting out in 8 minutes. It’s incredible. It’s almost impossible.
