Carly Pearce's mom cried when she saw the “What He Didn't Do” video

It’s no secret that Carly Pearce shares a close relationship with her mom, Jackie. That’s why the floodgates  opened when Carly’s mom first saw the emotional music video for her daughter’s single “What He Didn’t Do.”

“I played it for her, and I thought that she would really love it just because it’s so beautiful,” Carly recalls. “And she started crying when it was over, and she told me that she didn’t like it. And I asked her why, and she said because it’s too real of what happened. And I was kind of like, ‘That’s great, Mom. That’s exactly what I was lookin’ for. Thank you.'”

“But as a mother,” Carly adds, “I think she knew what I was trying to convey throughout the video, and I think it took her to a real emotional place of knowing that I really did feel like I was drowning.”

“What He Didn’t Do” served as the final single from Carly’s latest album, 29: Written In Stone. The song reached the top of the country charts last month and earned Carly her fourth number one hit.

New Michael Ray EP 'Dive Bars & Broken Hearts' will showcase his roots

Get ready for new music, Michael Ray fans. A forthcoming EP from Michael, titled Dive Bars & Broken Hearts, is arriving on June 23.

Michael shared the big news on Instagram on Wednesday, April 5, after teasing an announcement earlier in the week.

“I'm a kid from central Florida, raised singing at the Sunshine Opry, playing Froggers, turning it up when JonesHank Jr. and later Montgomery Gentry hit the dial. I like the ones who hit their country straight up and hard. I knew one guy who makes that kind of country, my new producer Michael Knox. The more we talked, the more I knew he understood where I came from,” Michael wrote. “My kind of country doesn't come from TikTok or a TV show, it's all those straight up country singers who knew life doesn't always turn out like you think, but you keep going.”

He continues, “I'm from a family of EMTs, cable-splicers, first responders; they had to get up and go to work, no matter what was happening… and when they got home, they reached for the music, whether they were going out with my grandpa Amos to watch him play, or some band they were playin' in. That's a whole different way to do this, and Knox got it. Just like he knows how dive bars and broken hearts are a lot like George Jones songs and steel guitars. they go together.”

Michael’s latest studio project is his Higher Education EP, which dropped in 2021 and featured the hit single “Whiskey And Rain.” In 2022, Michael released two live EPs, The Warehouse Sessions and The Bootlegger Sessions EP.

Arriving on April 21, the five-song set will feature “On My Own Again” and Morgan’s current single, “Over For You,” both of which are out now.

“I called the EP ‘Life Upside Down’ because this collection of music could only have come from this time, when my life felt exactly that,” Morgan shares in a statement. “To me, these five tracks journey through unexpected heartbreak, self-rediscovery, new beginnings and a new found gratitude for the present moment.”

Morgan recently released a cinematic music video for the autobiographical “On My Own Again.”

“8 shows, 7 countries, 3 bicycles, 2 goats & 1 camel. For a song documenting a poignant moment in my life, I thought it'd be appropriate to make a video the same way,” says Morgan. “I invited the guys behind the ‘Over For You’ music video and the docuseries on the road in Morocco, Europe, Ireland and the UK for one of the adventures of my life so far.”

On the tour front, Morgan’s currently opening for Brett Young on his 5 Tour 3 2 1 and will join Billy Currington on select dates later this year.
