Hardy and Lainey Wilson are number one on country radio

The “wait” is over. Hardy and Lainey Wilson are number one this week on the country charts with their powerful single, “wait in the truck.”

The track is the lead single off Hardy’s latest album, the mockingbird & THE CROW, and the first duet between the singers.

“I’m just so happy a song like this still has a place in country music,” says Hardy. “Thanks to everyone involved for taking this song to the top, and for believing in this one.”

“I’m so honored HARDY asked me to join him on a song that’s had an impact on so many people and shed light on a topic a lot of folks are scared to talk about,” Lainey adds. “He is one of the most brilliant songwriters I’ve ever met and puts on one heck of a show. I can’t wait to be back out on the road together this fall!”

Hardy and Lainey’s RIAA-certified Platinum hit also earned nominations in three categories at the 2023 ACM Awards: Song Of The Year, Music Event Of The Year and Visual Media Of The Year.

The pair and newcomer Dylan Marlowe will tour around the U.S. this fall on Hardy’s headlining the mockingbird & THE CROW Tour.

Miranda Lambert talks new cookbook + country music career on 'Late Night with Seth Meyers'

Miranda Lambert recently appeared on Late Night with Seth Meyers to talk about her brand new cookbook, Y’all Eat Yet?: Welcome to the Pretty B*tchin’ Kitchen.

She discussed the genesis of the collection, the women who inspired her at home, making omelettes “in a bag” during camping trips and why her husband’s a better cook than her. Additionally, Miranda reflected on her two-decade country music career and why she’s grateful to be nominated at the upcoming 2023 ACM Awards.

“This will be my 18th year at the ACMs. The country music community’s so supportive and friendly,” Miranda said. “People always ask me, like, ‘Is everybody really that nice?’ And I’m like, ‘Yeah, we kinda are.’ It’s like we’re friends, [there’s] friendly competition, but everybody deserves to be there.”

“It’s definitely a community and a family,” the singer added. “I’ve been doing this for 20 years and I’m still getting nominated and get to go see my friends and it’s such a good feeling. It makes me want to work even harder.”

Miranda’s Y’all Eat Yet?: Welcome to the Pretty B*tchin’ Kitchen is out in stores now.

The 58th Academy of Country Music Awards, hosted by Dolly Parton and Garth Brooks, streams live on Amazon Prime Video May 11 at 8 p.m. ET.

Don Lemon says he is “stunned” after firing from CNN

Longtime anchor CNN announced in a tweet published Monday morning that he has been fired by the network. The news came hours after Lemon co-hosted “CNN This Morning” alongside Poppy Harlow and Kaitlan Collins. Lemon wrote: “I was informed this morning by my agent I have been terminated by CNN. I am stunned. After 17 years at CNN I would have thought that someone in management would have had the decency to tell me directly. At no time was I ever given any indication that I would not be able to continue to do the work I have loved at the network. It is clear that there are some larger issues at play.” Lemon ended his statement with a thank you to his colleagues: “With that said, I want to thank my colleagues and the many teams I have worked with for an incredible run. They are the most talented journalists in the business, and I wish them all the best.”

The network first tweeted in a statement: “Don will forever be a part of the CNN family, and we thank him for his contributions over the past 17 years. We wish him well and will be cheering him on in his future endeavors.”  However, CNN Communications later issued a pointed rebuttal at Lemon’s remarks on Monday afternoon, releasing a statement via Twitter claiming Lemon’s version of the events that led up to his firing were “inaccurate” – “Don Lemon’s statement about this morning’s events is inaccurate. He was offered an opportunity to meet with management but instead released a statement on Twitter.”

The 56-year-old anchor’s exit comes months after he received backlash for comments he made during a Feb. 16 episode of CNN This Morning, while discussing politicians’ ages in a segment with co-hosts Harlow, 40, and Collins, 30. Speaking about Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley’s remarks that politicians over the age of 75 should be forced to take mental competency tests, Lemon said: “This whole talk about age makes me uncomfortable. I think it’s the wrong road to go down …She says … politicians are not in their prime. Nikki Haley isn’t in her prime. Sorry. A woman is considered to be in their prime in 20s and 30s and maybe 40s.”  (Haley is 51). Lemon later apologized on social media for his comments, and did not appear on air during the next three broadcasts. CNN chairman Chris Licht told staffers that Lemon had agreed to undergo training after a “frank and meaningful conversation” and Lemon returned to CNN This Morning in February.

Fox News announces Tucker Carlson’s departure, effective immediately

Fox News announced Monday morning that the network and Tucker Carlson have agreed to part ways. In a statement the network said “FOX News Media and Tucker Carlson have agreed to part ways. We thank him for his service to the network as a host and prior to that as a contributor.” Fox said Carlson’s last day hosting his show was Friday; the network did not provide further details on the reason for Carlson’s departure.

Beginning Monday evening, the network will air Fox News Tonight as an interim show helmed by rotating FOX News personalities until a new host is determined. Until a new host takes over, Fox News Tonight will be anchored by a rotating group of Fox News personalities.

The 53-year-old Carlson began hosting Fox News Tonight in 2016; and has yet to publicly comment on his departure. The announcement of Carlson’s exit comes nearly a week after Fox reached a massive $787.5 million settlement with Dominion Voting Systems in a last minute effort to avoid a trial in its defamation case. Carlson featured prominently in the lawsuit, which was the subject of conspiracies of widespread election fraud and other wrongdoing in the wake of the November 2020 presidential election. Despite the settlement agreement between the network and Dominion, controversial text messages and emails by Carlson and other network personalities were made public as part of court filings.

For Kane Brown, best thing about “Thank God” is seeing wife's music dreams come true

Kane Brown and his wife, Katelyntopped the country charts in February with their duet “Thank God” and now it’s becoming a crossover hit. Kane says he’s not surprised and is thrilled that Katelyn, a pop/R&B artist who put her career on hold when she married Kane, is getting her chance in the spotlight.

“I mean, Kate loves R&B and pop and, like, you know, big singers like Whitney Houston and all that, like, her voice just naturally leads there. So I think that’s, like, a huge reason,” Kane told reporters when asked why the song has a broad, multiple-genre appeal.

But in addition to the vocals, Kane thinks people like hearing a love song sung by a husband and wife.

“The song to me is really well written and written for any format that you want to put it at,” he noted. “Plus, it’s actually two people that really love each other singing that type of song … I think it just meshes well and everybody can relate to it.”

But Kane, who shares daughters Kingsley and Kodi with Katelyn, says seeing his wife be able to fulfill her musical ambitions is definitely the best thing about the success of “Thank God.”

“I mean, Kate’s always been an artist and, you know, she’s stepped back and is doing the mom and wife thing and she’s … holding our house together,” Kane says. “And she sings all the time. She loves music. So just to get to do that with her and get to live her dream with her means the world to me.”

Kane’s on tour all through this summer, and Katelyn’s been joining him onstage to sing “Thank God.”

Morgan Wallen issues statement after suddenly canceling concert in Mississippi

Morgan Wallen has issued a statement after he was forced to suddenly postpone Sunday night’s concert in Oxford, Mississippi at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium. According to fans in attendance, the cancellation came just minutes before his set was set to begin. The venue shared at the time: “Ladies & Gentlemen, Unfortunately Morgan has lost his voice and is unable to perform tonight – therefore tonight’s show has been cancelled. Please make your way safely to the stadium exits. Refunds for tonight’s event will be available at point of purchase.”

Just moments before showtime on Sunday (April 23), Wallen took to his Instagram stories to share the unfortunate news that he lost his voice and is unable to perform: “After last night’s show I started losing my voice so I spent the day resting up, talking to my doctor and working through my vocal exercises trying to get better. I really thought I’d be able to take the stage and it kills me to deliver this so close to showtime, but my voice is shot and I am unable to sing. All tickets will be refunded at point of purchase. I am so sorry, I promise you guys I tried everything I could.” Prior to Wallen’s cancellation, HARDY, ERNEST and Nate Smith served as support and were able to perform

Wallen’s next scheduled tour date will take place in Grand Rapids, MI at Van Andel Arena on April 27. He is currently in the midst of the U.S. leg of his One Night At A Time World Tour, which kicked off with two sold-out shows at American Family Field in Milwaukee, Wisconsin earlier this month. The lengthy trek will visit 30 stadiums, plus arenas, amphitheaters and festivals to fans across four countries and two continents, with the North American leg of the trek wrapping-up on October 7 at Tacoma Dome in Washington. The tour will return overseas this fall with stops in Canada before heading to The O2 in London on Dec. 3.

Kim Petras and Nicki Minaj team up for “Alone”

Kim Petras has teamed with Nicki Minaj for the new single “Alone,” which samples the 1999 smash dance hit “Better Off Alone” by Dutch electronic music project Alice Deejay — said to be “a nod to the dance hits that Kim lost herself in during childhood to forget her problems.”
