Eric Church recognized with Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum exhibit

Eric Church’s life and career are at the center of a new exhibit at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum set to debut next month. Eric Church: Country Heart, Restless Soul, presented by Gibson, will open in 2023 on July 13 and run through 2024 when it closes on June 9.

A press release states that the exhibit “will chronicle Church’s unique path to stardom, from his early years playing late-night gigs in bars and writing songs in Nashville to his current prominence as one of country music’s most authentic voices and revered rule-breakers.” On July 15, two days after the exhibit opens, the Hall of Fame and Museum will mark its launch with the public program Writers’ Round: The Songs of Eric Church. The event will feature artists including Luke Laird and Jeremy Spillman playing music they have written with the star, and sharing stories behind them, from 2:30 pm in the museum’s Ford Theater. Details of how to reserve tickets for the program, and more information about the exhibit, are available at the museum’s website.

Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum CEO Kyle Young says in a press statement: “Eric Church has done it his way completely. His steadfast artistic vision and authenticity resonate deeply with audiences, and he continues to serve as an important collaborator and renegade role model for generations of country music artists.”

Dierks Bentley has chosen his next single

“Something Real” will be Dierks Bentley‘s next single on country radio.

The meaningful, uptempo track was written by Dierks, Ross CoppermanHARDYAshley Gorley and Luke Dick during a writing retreat in Colorado.

“I think we are all seeking something a little deeper than what’s on the surface, the things we see on social media. For me, that looks like putting my phone down, getting out in nature with my family, writing songs with my friends . doing the things where I find real connection,” shares Dierks.

“There is always a little hesitation about putting a new song in the set, but it's sounding so good live and I appreciate the fans who already know it and are singing it back to us,” he adds.

“Something Real” is the follow-up single to Dierks’ 22nd #1 hit, “Gold.” Both songs are featured on his latest album, Gravel & Gold, which arrived in February.

Garth Brooks responds to backlash over Bud Light being served at upcoming Nashville bar

Country music superstar Garth Brooks is speaking out after causing what he described as a “little bit of a stir” by saying he would serve “every brand of beer” in his new Nashville bar.

Brooks’ comment, made in an interview with a Billboard reporter on June 7, was interpreted by many as saying his upcoming Friends in Low Places Bar & Honky Tonk would serve Bud Light, which has faced backlash from conservatives after a product endorsement from transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney.

Much of the backlash was focused on a comment Brooks made after confirming his bar would serve all beers: “Our thing is this: If you come into this house, love one another. If you’re an a******, there are plenty of other places on Lower Broadway to go.”

In new comments made Monday, June 12, on his Facebook livestream, Brooks doubled down on his stance, saying, “Diversity. Inclusive. That’s me. That’s always been me.”

“Everybody’s got their opinions. But inclusiveness is always going to be me,” Brooks said. “I think diversity is the answer to the problems that are here and the answer to the problems that are coming. So, I love diversity. All inclusive, so all are welcome. I understand that might not be other people’s opinions, but that’s OK, man. They have their opinions. They have their beliefs. I have mine.”

Brooks also said it will ultimately be up to the bars’ customers to decide what type of beer is sold, saying it’s his responsibility as the owner to stock Friends in Low Places with the most popular beers and let the patrons decide.

“So here’s the deal: If you want to come to Friends in Low Places, come in, but come in with love,” Brooks said. “Come in with tolerance, patience. Come in with an open mind, and it’s cool.”
