Elevated portion of I-95 collapses in Philadelphia after tanker truck fire

Officials said on Sunday morning that a tanker truck fire forced the closure of a section of Interstate Highway 95 in northeast Philadelphia after an elevated portion of the roadway collapsed. The Philadelphia Fire Department said in a statement that firefighters responded to the scene near the Cottman Avenue exit in northeast Philadelphia around 6:30 a.m. and were able to get the blaze under control within an hour.

The collapse was caused by a tanker truck fire burning under an on-ramp. Officials told the local station that they are unsure what kind of truck it is and that they have been unable to search for a driver inside. Runoff from fuel or gas lines from the burning truck has also caused explosions underground, with a video posted on social media early Sunday appearing to show plumes of black smoke rising above the highway.

Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney tweeted to avoid the area and plan for alternate travel routes, and thanked first responders for their work. Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro added in a tweet he has been briefed by officials and that first responders and transportation officials were on the scene. and that he and Lt. Gov. Austin Davis were “closely coordinating” with officials in the state, throughout New Jersey and in the federal government.

Meanwhile, Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg tweeted he was closely monitoring the situation: “I’ve been in touch with [the Federal Highway Administration] and spoke with Gov. Shapiro to offer any assistance that USDOT can provide to help with recovery and reconstruction.” The National Transportation Safety Board was also monitoring the situation and gathering information.

For Keith Urban, the “invigorating energy” is still alive, after 50 years of CMA Fest

The 50th anniversary of the festival formerly known as Fan Fair came to a close Sunday night in Nashville, after four nights of concerts starring the biggest names in country music.

Even before he took the stage, Keith Urban was already feeling the vibe.

“You KNOW people are out there that have never been to Nashville, never been to CMA Fest from all over the world… It’s an invigorating energy,” he told reporters backstage. “So for me, even having done it a lot of times, tonight will feel unlike any other time we’ve done it.”

For five-time CMA Vocal Group of the Year Old Dominion, their CMA Fest set was a reminder of how far they’ve come.

“I remember the first time hearing a crowd of people, which was probably 40 people, sing something back to us,” Matthew Ramsey recalled. “And I remember that kind of like setting us back on our heels a little bit. And then, you know, there’s awards that we win that [make you] go like, ‘Oh, wow. We’re accepted.'”

For Cody Johnson, his Nissan Stadium invitation marked a career milestone as well.

“For me personally, I look back on all the years of working hard and never giving up and saying, ‘You know what? Someday I’m gonna be able to play my brand of country music that sounds more traditional… on a very large stage.’ So it’s an incredible thing,” the Texan reflected.

“We’re gonna try to burn this place to the ground tonight. No insurance is involved in that, by the way,” he joked.

You can experience it for yourself when ABC’s annual three-hour CMA Fest special airs Wednesday, July 19, hosted by Dierks BentleyLainey Wilson and Elle King

Jimmie Allen dropped from label after being sued for sexual assault by second woman

Jimmie Allen has been sued for sexual assault by a second woman. According to Variety, the suit was filed Friday, June 9th in Tennessee federal court and identifies the new accuser as ‘Jane Doe 2,’ who is is suing Allen for battery, assault, invasion of privacy and emotional distress.

In the new lawsuit, ‘Jane Doe 2’ alleges she was randomly approached by Allen on a plane in 2022, and the singer pursued and engaged with her for two months in a long-distance conversation before meeting in Las Vegas where she claims the assault occurred. The lawsuit claims, “Allen sexually assaulted Jane Doe 2 in his hotel room and then passed out. Extremely upset by the assault, Jane Doe 2 was leaving the hotel room when she discovered that Allen had surreptitiously and, without her consent, placed his cell phone in the closet facing the bed and had been videotaping the entire event.”

Last month, Allen was sued by a member of his former day-to-day management team for sexual battery, assault, false imprisonment, sex trafficking and emotional distress.  After the initial news broke, Allen’s long time label, BBR’s Stoney Creek Records, and his booking agency, UTA, suspended him, and his publicity firm, Full Coverage Communications, parted ways with the singer. After news of the second lawsuit broke on Friday, Allen’s label announced he had been dropped, saying in a statement: “BBR Music Group has dissolved its relationship with Jimmie Allen. He is no longer an active artist on its roster.”

No charges have been filed on either case as of press time.

‘Yellowstone’ star Luke Grimes shares new song “Playin’ On The Tracks”

Luke Grimes has dropped his brand-new song “Playin’ On The Tracks,” written with Brent Cobb and produced by Dave Cobb. Grimes portrays Kayce Dutton on the popular television series Yellowstone.

Grimes shared how the track came about in a press release: “This song was my first co-write with the very talented Brent Cobb, and I realized pretty quickly that he was going to be a big part of my musical journey. With ‘Playin’ On The Tracks,’ it started with a mood. We were trying to capture the outlaw spirit of a sort of rambler. Once we got going, it sort of fell out. I love the shoot-from-the-hip attitude of this song.”

“Playin’ On The Tracks” is the follow-up to Grimes’ recent single, “Hold On,” as well as “Oh Ohio” and his debut single, “No Horse To Ride.”   Fans can look for the artist on the stage this summer at Spotify House at Ole Red at CMA Fest 2023 in Nashville, Tenn on Saturday, June 10.
