Miranda Lambert drops duet with Leon Bridges

Miranda Lambert and soul singer Leon Bridges have released a duet, “If You Were Mine.”

The spellbinding love song was penned by Miranda, Ashley Monroe and Jesse Frasure, and chronicles a tale of unwavering romance.

“I’d make sure your stars are shining/ Sure as the Frio’s winding/ I’d bottle you up like lightning/ I’d rope the moon for you/ A million times/ That’s what I’d do If you were mine,” Miranda and Leon harmonize in the chorus.

“I have been a big fan of Leon for a while because he is very authentic as an artist and I love his music. I wrote this song with Ashley Monroe and Jesse Frasure, specifically with Leon in mind,” Miranda shares. “Since we are both from Texas, we threw in a few Texas references, of course – the Frio River being one.”

“When we finished this song, we sent it to Leon in hopes that he would want to collaborate and we were so glad that he said yes,” she says. “I have really enjoyed getting to know him and I'm happy to have him as a new friend.”

Leon adds, “I was humbled to have Miranda ask if I’d join her on this beautiful duet she wrote. Getting in the studio with her in Nashville to sing this song together was magic. There’s nothing better than two Texans on one mic!”

“If You Were Mine” is available everywhere you listen to music.

If you’re headed to Nashville for CMA Fest, be sure to catch Miranda at Nissan Stadium on Friday, June 9.

3 more victims are found dead in collapsed Davenport, Iowa apartment building

The bodies of three residents who lived in the apartment building that collapsed in Davenport, Iowa, were found over the weekend. On Saturday, 42-year-old Branden Colvin’s body was found in the rubble; and the bodies of 51-year-old Ryan Hitchcock and 60-year-old Daniel Prien were recovered on Sunday.

Officials initially planned to demolish the building at 324 Main St. swiftly after it partially collapsed on May 28, and rescuers said there were no credible reports of any missing persons at that time.  However last Tuesday, the city halted plans to demolish the partially collapsed building because at least five residents were missing. Rescuers would go on to save more than a dozen people, as well as several pets, from the six-story structure. Of the five missing residents, two had been accounted for before discovering the bodies of the remaining three.

A structural engineer from Select Structural Engineering in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, investigated the building on Feb. 2 and discovered a “localized area of brick [that] is cracked and crumbling” on the exterior wall on the west side of the building. Reports dating Feb. 8 said of the west wall crumbling “this engineer determined that this is not an imminent threat to the building or its residents, but structural repairs will be necessary.” During a second inspection later that month, the same engineer, said “the mason pointed out that the area immediately to the north of the work area has a large and potentially dangerous void beneath the facade wythe of clay brick.”

The 16,200-square foot, 79-unit mixed-use complex was purchased in June 2021 by Davenport Hotel LLC., owned by Andrew Wold. Wold has been fined $300 and a $95 court fee for failing to maintain a “safe, sanitary, and structurally sound” property.

Virginia plane crash linked to DC area sonic boom scare leaves 4 dead

Officials confirmed that an unresponsive pilot flew through restricted airspace in Washington, D.C. before crashing in Virginia on Sunday, leaving 4 dead. The Cessna Citation private jet was followed by fighter jets authorized to fly at supersonic speed.

North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) dispatched 6 F-16 fighter jets immediately to intercept the plane, which set off a sonic boom heard and felt throughout the Washington, D.C. area as they attempted to intercept the Cessna. An unusual flight path caught the Federal Aviation Administration’s attention, and the pilot had stopped responding to air traffic control operators.

On Monday, federal authorities said that the crash occurred after the Cessna ran out of fuel; it was not taken down by fighter jets. The crash left behind “highly fragmented” wreckage in a mountainous area, and will take investigators days time to reach the remote crash scene about 2 to 3 miles north of Montebello in the mountainous terrain. They expect to be on the scene at least three to four days to gather, sort and inspect the wreckage, before moving it.

The FAA confirmed that the pilot and three passengers were killed and that the plane was “destroyed” in the crash. The Cessna Citation belonged to John Rumpel from Melbourne, Florida. Rumpel said his daughter, granddaughter, nanny and their pilot were all on board. Investigators are looking into when the pilot became unresponsive and why the aircraft flew the path that it did. A preliminary report will be released in 10 days, and a final report will be released in 12 to 24 months, authorities said.

Priscilla Block “manifested” being part of the CMA Fest lineup

With CMA Fest coming up, Priscilla Block is taking ABC Audio on a trip down memory lane to recall her early days as an independent artist dreaming of playing the festival.

While Priscilla’s now part of the official CMA Fest lineup, this wasn’t always the case for the Raleigh, North Carolina, native, who used to employ a little trick to pretend she was part of it.

“I would put the CMA Fest logo on my in-town gigs because no one knew who I really was,” Priscilla admits with a laugh. “So I would put [up] my CMA Fest schedule and I’d be singing at like, Rippy’s or Tootsies. And then I put ‘brought to you by CMA Fest.’ So I was really faking it ’til I made it.”

Although Priscilla was “faking it,” her efforts as a relatively unknown artist in Nashville then perhaps foreshadowed her present-day reality.

“When I actually got to play CMA Fest, when I was invited to play Riverfront and then we did Nissan Stadium last year, I was like, ‘Wow, I manifested this,’ you know? And I actually had the official logo on it,” Priscilla adds.

The “Just About Over You” singer is set to return to the CMA Fest Chevy Riverfront Stage on Friday, June 9, at 10 a.m. Afterward, she’ll head over to Fan Fair X for meet-and-greets at 12 p.m. and 2 p.m., before performing at Universal Music Group Nashville’s Music Is Universal event at the Skydeck on Broadway at 11 p.m.

Demi Lovato shares rock version of ‘Cool for the Summer’

Demi Lovato is sharing a rock version of one of her biggest pop hits. The new, edgier version of “Cool for the Summer (Rock Version)” features re-recorded vocals and updated production. The original version of “Cool for the Summer” was released eight years ago as the lead single from Lovato’s fifth studio album, Confident. The song went 3x Platinum and peaked at No. 1 on Billboard’s Dance Club chart.

The release of “Cool for the Summer (Rock Version)” marks the second of Lovato’s hit songs that has been re-recorded with a rock twist; earlier this year, Lovato released “Heart Attack (Rock Version)” in celebration of the original track’s ten year anniversary.  Lovato has performed rock versions of both tracks on her 2022 Holy Fvck Tour, in support of her album of the same name. Holy Fvck saw Lovato return to her rock and pop-punk roots and debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Rock & Alternative Albums, Top Rock Albums, and Top Alternative Albums.
