Cardi B under investigation after throwing microphone at audience member during concert

Cardi B is facing legal troubles after the rapper and a concertgoer got into an altercation while on stage in Las Vegas over the weekend. According to a report from TMZ, one day after the altercation the woman who was allegedly in the crowd when Cardi threw her microphone went to the Las Vegas Metro Police Department to file an official report against her, telling police that she was hit by an object that was thrown from the stage. Cardi was listed as a suspect in the battery investigation, but it is unclear whether or not it was filed by the woman who threw water and ice at the artist.

The Las Vegas Metro Police Department shared of the investigation: “On July 30, 2023, an individual came into an LVMPD police station to report a battery. According to the victim, she was attending an event on July 29, 2023, at a property located in the 3500 block of Las Vegas Boulevard. During a concert, she was struck by an item that was thrown from the stage.”

The incident in question began when Cardi B was perfoming during the daytime at Drai’s Nightclub in Las Vegas, and had encouraged fans to splash water towards her as a way to cool down. She was in the middle performing a song when a woman hurled a drink with water and ice cubes at the rapper, and Cardi reacted by chucking the microphone she was using at the woman. Videos circulating online show the concertgoer being escorted out by security and the rapper leaving the stage after she shared harsh words with the concertgoer. Shortly after video of the incident went viral, Cardi B responded to the outrage during a livestream session with her fans.

Former backup dancers sue Lizzo with accusations of toxic workplace and harassment

In a lawsuit filed on Tuesday, three former dancers for singer Lizzo have accused her of sexual harassment and creating a hostile workplace.

The plaintiffs include Arianna Davis, and Crystal Williams who began performing with Lizzo after competing on her reality show “Watch Out for the Big Grrrls,” in 2021. The third plaintiff, Noelle Rodriguez, was hired in 2021 after performing in a Lizzo music video. Davis and Williams were fired and Rodriguez resigned earlier this year.

Lizzo, who is known for embracing body positivity, is accused of berating a dancer for her weight gain, then later firing the dancer for recording a meeting due to a health condition. According to the lawsuit filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, other allegations include one of the dancers accusing Lizzo of pressuring her to touch a nude performer at an Amsterdam club, and the dancers claiming that the captain of Rizzo’s dance group, Shirlene Quigley, preached her religious beliefs constantly. In addition to Lizzo and Quigley, the suit names the singer’s production company as a defendant. The accusations include instances of sexual harassment, racial and religious harassment, false imprisonment, and interference with potential economic advantage.

The plaintiffs’ attorney Ron Zambrano said: “The stunning nature of how Lizzo and her management team treated their performers seems to go against everything Lizzo stands for publicly, while privately she weight-shames her dancers and demeans them in ways that are not only illegal but absolutely demoralizing.” A dollar amount for damages covering emotional distress, unpaid wages and legal fees for the plaintiffs was not specified within the lawsuit filing.

Dan + Shay to drop one of their “most special” songs this week

Dan + Shay have announced that a new song titled “Always Gonna Be” is dropping Thursday, August 3, at 11 p.m. CT.

The news arrived through a handwritten note shared on the band’s social media pages.

“In March of 2022, we met to discuss the future of the band. One of the most important things we talked about that night was our responsibility to our fans who had been with us through every high and low of the past 10 years,” Dan + Shay wrote before detailing their candid conversation.

“We specifically said things like, ‘Dan + Shay is always gonna be a tattoo on somebody's arm,’ ‘Dan + Shay is always gonna be a first dance at somebody's wedding.’ We left that night with a fresh perspective on our career, and a genuine closeness in our relationship,” they recount.

“One of the goals we set was to spend more time together, like we did early on, so we decided to write the next day. We sat down with an acoustic guitar, and out of the sky fell a song called ‘Always Gonna Be.’ It was the first song we wrote for the album, and will always be one of the most special,” Dan + Shay share.

You can read the note in full on Dan + Shay’s Instagram.

“Always Gonna Be” will be featured on Dan + Shay’s forthcoming album, Bigger Houses, arriving September 15. The record also includes its lead single, “Save Me The Trouble,” which is approaching the top 30 on the country charts.

‘Doomsday’ mom Lori Vallow Daybell gets life in prison without parole

Lori Vallow Daybell was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for murdering her two children, as well as conspiring to murder her husband’s first wife in a plot that stemmed from the ‘doomsday’ prophesies she believed. Daybell was found guilty of two counts of first-degree murder for the 2019 deaths of her children, Joshua “J.J.” Vallow, 7, and Tylee Ryan, 16, whose remains were found on an Idaho property belonging to her husband, Chad Daybell, following a months-long search. She was also found guilty of conspiring to kill her children and her husband’s first wife, Tamara Daybell, who died on Oct. 19, 2019, less than a month before Lori and Chad married in Hawaii.

Judge Steven Boyce gave the 50-year-old Vallow consecutive sentences of life without parole months after the Idaho mom’s May conviction for the deaths other children, as well as 49-year-old Tammy Daybell. The judge had previously granted the defense’s motion to dismiss the death penalty in the case. Vallow was also convicted of grand theft by deception in the case for collecting government payments after the murders of her children, receiving a 10-year sentence for that conviction.

Vallow and her husband Chad Daybell are members of an offshoot sect of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Chad Daybell is the author of more than a dozen apocalyptic-themed novels, which have been described as religiously extreme. During the trial, prosecutors presented evidence that the two belonged to a Christian fundamentalist “doomsday cult” in which they expressed beliefs that dark spirits can possess bodies and should be cast out and that Vallow believed she would help bring about “the end of days.” Chad Daybell, 54, is charged in connection with the deaths of Tylee, J.J. and Tammy, but will be tried separately. He has pleaded not guilty.

Vallow Daybell also faces separate charges in the July 2019 death of her husband, Charles Vallow, who was shot by her brother Alex Cox. Cox claimed he shot Vallow in self-defense and was not charged in the shooting; he died in December 2019. Vallow Daybell has been charged in Arizona with conspiracy to commit murder in his death. She has also been charged in Arizona for conspiracy for the 2019 attempted shooting of Brandon Boudreaux, who was married to Vallow Daybell’s niece.
