Lauren Alaina + mom Kristy do the Egg Crack Challenge

There’s never a dull moment when you’re with Lauren Alaina.

Recently, Lauren and her mom, Kristy, jumped on the bandwagon and participated in TikTok’s Egg Crack Challenge. Of course, Lauren didn’t miss a beat and shared the hilarious footage on TikTok.

“All yolks aside. this cracks me up,” Lauren captions the video. The clip opens with Kristy calling Lauren to join her in front of the camera. As soon as she arrives, Kristy asks, “Do you know how to tell whether this egg is bad or not?” Before Lauren could answer, she cracks the egg on her daughter’s forehead, leaving her jaw dropped and dumbfounded.

Lauren gets her revenge afterward when she cracks an egg on her mom’s forehead, too, as they both break out in laughter. “That’s mother abuse,” Kristy says in jest.

You can watch the prank in full on Lauren’s TikTok.

Tim McGraw reflects on his 15-year sobriety journey, calls Faith Hill his “rock”

Tim McGraw‘s been sober for 15 years now, and he’s thanking his “rock” and wife, Faith Hill, for that.

“She’s always been my rock. She’s my rock in everything that I do. I don’t think I could stand up straight without leaning on her in everything that I do,” Tim tells Yahoo Entertainment in a recent interview, before reflecting further on his sobriety journey.

“It is not a linear path,” says Tim. “There’s setbacks and there’s times you move forward and do great, and there’s times you set back. And that’ll probably [be] a process throughout the rest of my life and something that I have to be diligent about and really continue to work at.”

“I think [‘Hey Whiskey’] is helpful in that regard,” Tim adds as he references a song off his upcoming album. “It was very cathartic to me, in a lot of ways.”

Tim’s new album, Standing Room Only, arrives Friday, August 25, and is available for preorder and presave now.

On album release day, Tim will perform on ABC’s Good Morning America as part of the 2023 GMA Summer Concert Series.

Tropical Storm Harold makes landfall in Texas with threats of flooding, tornadoes

Tropical Storm Harold made landfall Tuesday with sustained winds of 50 mph on Padre Island, Texas, but was downgraded to a tropical depression after moving quickly inland at 21 mph, weakening as it moved west-northwest across southern Texas and toward Mexico.

Rainfall amounts across southern Texas will range from 2 to 4 inches with isolated amounts up to 6 inches possible through early Wednesday, which could lead to some instances of flash flooding and isolated tornadoe. Around 1 to 3 feet of storm surge is also possible from the Mouth of the Rio Grande to Sargent, which includes Baffin Bay, Corpus Christi Bay and Matagorda Bay. Mexico is more likely to see flooding from remnants of Harold, with 4 to 6 inches and locally up to 10 inches possible there through Wednesday.

National Hurricane Center forecasters said in an update late on Tuesday that heavy rainfall continues to be expected across wide areas of South Texas through Wednesday. Flash-flooding in parts of Mexico’s Coahuila and northern Nuevo Leon could lead to possible landslides in mountain regions, and parts of south Texas can expect to see as much as 6 inches of rain by Wednesday, while parts of Mexico could get closer to 10 inches of rain. The National Hurricane Center also warned of “life-threatening” surf and tidal conditions along the shore of the Gulf of Mexico.

On a positive note, Harold will bring much-needed rain to a drought-stricken Texas, with the system also bringing a brief reprieve to the excessive heat including for cities like Austin, Corpus Christi and Brownsville.

UPS workers ending strike threat after approving new contract

UPS workers ratified the labor deal negotiated by the Teamsters nearly a month ago, which will allow the five-year contract to take effect.

Teamsters President Sean O’Brien said in a statement Tuesday: “This contract will improve the lives of hundreds of thousands of workers. Teamsters have set a new standard and raised the bar for pay, benefits, and working conditions in the package delivery industry. This is the template for how workers should be paid and protected nationwide, and nonunion companies like Amazon better pay attention.”

More than 86% of UPS union members voted in favor of the deal covering 340,000 employees, which officially removes the threat of a strike at UPS. Logistics experts had warned that a protracted work stoppage at the carrier would have caused widespread disruptions across the U.S. UPS confirmed the vote results, saying in a statement, “Our Teamsters-represented employees have voted to overwhelmingly ratify a new five-year National Master Agreement.”

The new UPS agreement eliminates the criticized two-tiered wage system and institutes raises across the package carrier’s workforce. Current full- and part-time union workers are guaranteed a $2.75 hourly pay increase this year amounting to a $7.50 hourly increase through the duration of the contract. Pay for existing and starting part-time workers will be raised to at least $21 per hour immediately, advancing to $23 per hour. Current part-timers also won longevity wage increases of up to $1.50 per hour. Wage increases for full-time drivers would bring their average top rate to $49 per hour.

Jon Pardi recalls “getting ready to get a big old C+” during his back-to-school days

With school reopening in several states this month, Jon Pardi is revisiting his schooling days and sharing how much of a not-so-studious student he was.

“I got in trouble a lot for talking to friends, having fun, making people laugh. I pretty much liked all my [teachers]. I really liked my principal because he saw me a lot but he’s real cool,” Jon recalls.

“Going back to school was, you know, stopping the summer job and getting back to school, writing songs, playing in whatever band I was into, and getting ready to get a big old C+,” he admits with a laugh.

Now a first-time dad to daughter Presley, who he and his wife, Summer, welcomed in February 2023, Jon’s sharing his hopes and aspirations for his firstborn and how they’re going to support them as parents.

“We’re going to do the little put-money-in-this-a-year for college, but we’re not anti-college and we’re not forceful on college,” says Jon before briefly mentioning Summer’s “beauty college” experience. “Hopefully she wants to go to college, but she might want to be a singer, she might want to be a songwriter, and I’m not going to stop that.”

Jon’s currently #3 on the country charts with his single “Your Heart Or Mine.”
