Lady A wraps up “really special” Request Line Tour

Lady A recently concluded their 22-date Request Line Tour with shows in New York City, Syracuse and Washington.

The trek, which kicked off at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium, allowed fans to request songs they wanted to hear and interact with the band during their show.

“The Request Line Tour was full of joy, connection, laughter and love. Every night was special and I loved every single second,” shares Hillary Scott.

Charles Kelley adds, “To be able to encompass our 17 year career into one show was so gratifying. I loved how this show combined a high-energy feel with a storytelling aspect as well. It was a really special tour and I had a blast.”

Lady A recently released their new tracks “A Love Song” and “Love You Back.” Both tunes preview the group’s forthcoming as-yet-untitled project.

Former Memphis officer charged in death of Tyre Nichols changes plea to guilty

Desmond Mills Jr., one of the former Memphis police officer charged in the fatal beating of Tyre Nichols will become the first of five officers charged in the case to break ranks with his former colleagues and change his not guilty plea. According to federal court documents and his lawyer, a change of plea hearing has been scheduled on Thursday for Mills.

Mills and four other former Memphis Police Department officers — Tadarrius Bean, Demetrius Haley, Emmitt Martin and Justin Smith — were charged in federal court with using excessive force, failing to intervene, deliberate indifference and conspiring to lie after they were caught on camera punching, kicking and hitting Nichols with a police baton on Jan. 7. Nichols, 29, died three days later in a hospital. The federal charges also include obstruction of justice through witness tampering. The five former officers also have pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder and other charges in state court.

Blake Ballin, Mills’ lawyer, said he could not discuss details of the plea agreement, including which charges it pertains to. Ballin said Mills was changing his plea “to take responsibility for his actions.” Mills also plans to enter a plea agreement in state court, but that would not take place until later.

The fatal beating of Nichols sparked protests and renewed debate about police brutality and police reform in the U.S. The five former officers, who are also black, were fired from the department and the crime-suppression team they were part of disbanded after Nichols’ death.

Americans among first group of evacuees to leave Gaza through Egypt for first time since war

Evacuations of those trapped in the Gaza Strip began through the Rafah border crossing for the first time since Israel imposed a siege on the Palestinian enclave after the Hamas attack on Oct. 7. An initial group of U.S. citizens were among those that departed Gaza through the Rafah crossing today, and are now in Egypt, with hundreds of foreign passport-holdersalso set to leave. The crossing was opened after Egypt, Hamas and Israel agreed that up to 500 people may cross daily.

U.S. State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller confirmed some American citizens have left Gaza but he wouldn’t provide a specific number, telling reporters on Wednesday: “There are a number of American citizens who have crossed through Rafah and are in Egypt today.”  Miller said the situation in Gaza “remains extremely fluid.” Americans and their family members who want to leave Gaza will be emailed departure instructions over the next three days

In Minnesota at an event about his economic agenda, President Biden said more people will be able to leave Gaza in the days ahead: “We’re working nonstop to get Americans out of Gaza as soon and as safely as possible.” At least five nongovernmental organization workers who have been confirmed as Americans were on a list released by Gaza’s Hamas-controlled interior ministry as approved to cross on Wednesday, but it remains to be seen how many more of the at least 400 Americans stuck in Gaza will be able to cross in the coming days.

Footage showed the gate of the crossing on the Palestinian side of the border being opened Wednesday morning as people began to cross into Egypt for the first time since the war began. Reuters reported that at least 320 foreign passport holders had crossed into Egypt from Gaza, with some 545 foreigners and dual nationals along with dozens of sick and wounded expected to leave throughout the day. After being allowed into the terminal area, huge lines of those waiting to leave formed around crossing booths for checks on passports and other documents.

Reba loves the camaraderie present between 'The Voice' coaches

Reba McEntire may be the newest coach on The Voice, but this ain’t her first rodeo.

She’s starred in multiple movies and television shows, including her beloved namesake sitcom, Reba. In fact, for the “Fancy” singer, the friendship she has with fellow coaches Gwen StefaniNiall Horan and John Legend reminds her of her time with her Reba cast members.

“We have our coaches meeting before we go in to start the TV show and it reminds me so much of the Reba show,” Reba shares. “We’ll all be visiting and telling stories about, ‘Oh, did you see Beyoncé‘s show? Oh, my gosh. What? Did you see the horse and all that?’ And then the producers, Audrey and Kyra, will be there like, ‘We got to get going.'”

“That camaraderie, I think, is what I love so much,” she says.

The real-life friendship the coaches share extends to their onscreen time where they banter, challenge and sometimes ridicule each other in good fun.

“We’ll be jokingly cruel [sometimes] with each other, but it is for fun and entertainment and nobody takes it seriously,” says Reba. “Any jabs that we do is so funny. Niall will say, ‘Gweny, I’m not afraid of you! Yes, I am,’ and just silly, funny things. Everybody’s got a great sense of humor and we use it.”

The Voice airs Mondays at 8 p.m. ET and Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET on NBC.

Reba’s new lifestyle book, Not That Fancy: Simple Lessons on Living, Loving, Eating, and Dusting Off Your Boots, and its companion album, Not That Fancy, are out now.

Mariah Carey rings in the Holiday Season with short clip announcing ‘It’s Time!’

Mariah Carey, the self-proclaimed ‘Queen of Christmas,’ has announced that it is officially the holiday season in a new video proclaiming, “It’s Time!”

The clip, posted on social media along with the caption ‘It’s…… TIME!!! 🎃🧊🎄 #MariahSZN’, shows a clock counting down the seconds until midnight on Halloween. As soon as the clock strikes midnight, a vault opens to reveal Carey frozen in a block of ice. People sporting Halloween costumes start using hairdryers to melt the ice to set Carey free, and as she emerges, the singer exclaims, “It’s time!” The video ends with Carey and her children Moroccan and Monroe running into the frame to hug and dance around with their mother to her smash holiday hit song, “All I Want For Christmas Is You,” as snow falls.

Carey revealed earlier in October that she will be launching a small holiday-themed tour — ‘The Merry Christmas One and All Tour’ will kick off on November 15th in Highland California and will conclude on December 17th at New York’s Madison Square Garden, with two new dates in Cleveland and New York. Check out the Merry Christmas One and All tour dates at the social media link: here.
