Tim McGraw gushes at daughter's Tammy Wynette cover

Tim McGraw‘s daughter Audrey recently posted a cover of Tammy Wynette‘s “Stand By Your Man” that wowed her country superstar dad.

Sharing his reaction via an Instagram Reel, Tim was all smiles and in awe of Audrey’s piano-driven rendition of the 1968 classic.

“Our baby girl, Audrey. Gosh, she’s so talented. Man. And I’ve said it a hundred times, all of our girls are so talented, they all sing great. Audrey is just so special. She’s such an incredible writer as well,” shared Tim. “Whenever she’s home, she’ll sit on the piano. We can hear this all through the house and we can hear the stuff she’s writing. And I’m telling you, her voice and the things that she writes are just so mindblowing and so deep and so special.”

“She’s just a true artist. She’s got a true artist’s soul. And we’re lucky enough that we get to hear this when she’s at home and she sits around and plays the piano,” he continued. “Faith [Hill] and I will just sit there and just listen. She doesn’t know we’re listening half the time. Sometimes we have to sneak around and watch her so that she doesn’t see us because she’ll stop sometimes. But my goodness, I’m proud.”

You can watch Audrey’s cover and Tim’s reaction now on Instagram.

Tyler Hubbard basks in love in new song, “Turn”

Tyler Hubbard has rolled out a surprise new song, “Turn.”

Penned by Tyler, Josh Miller and Casey Brown, the nostalgic ode chronicles life’s simple joys and what it’s like to be head over heels for someone.

“We turn grass into dirt/ Turn seeds into rows/ Prayers into rain/ Turn tires off a road/ Dust into clouds/ When the sun turns red/ Turn a hand-me-down Chevy/ To a creekside bed/ Headlights burnin’/ Radio’s workin’/ Her sweet smile’s gettin’/ Some ol’ boy turnin’/ That midnight kiss/ Into those three words/ A girl like her/ Will make your whole world/ Turn,” goes the midtempo chorus.

“Turn” is the follow-up to “A Lot With a Little” and “Back Then Right Now,” which is currently approaching the top 20 of the country charts. They preview Tyler’s forthcoming as-yet-untitled sophomore album.

Coming up, Tyler will open for Kane Brown on his In The Air Tour. Tickets and a full list of dates are available now at tylerhubbardofficial.com.

Surprise album from Morgan Wallen drops against his wishes: “I cringe when I listen to these songs”

Morgan Wallen has a new release, but it’s nothing to rejoice about.

Stand Alone (10th Anniversary Deluxe Edition) is an expanded version of his 2015 Stand Alone EP. The project arrives not via his current label Big Loud Records, but through his previous label home, Panacea Records.

“Back in 2014, I went to Florida to try my hand at making original music & songwriting for the first time. This led to a recording deal with a local investor & an artist management deal that I deeply regret. Unfortunately, I signed both deals without any legal representation,” Morgan says in a January 25 statement.

“Tonight, those colleagues I parted ways with almost 10 years ago plan to release a ’10th Anniversary’ edition of Stand Alone against my wishes & include 8 unreleased songs, distributing it with the assistance of my former managers,” he shares.

“It's gross, greedy & an example of how the dark side of the music business can suck the soul out of artists. I want you to know this is NOT my new music & I don't want to see this happen to anyone else. I cringe when I listen to these songs & I'm concerned my fans may mistakenly believe this is a new release by me,” Morgan says, adding that he’s recording his next project in February.

Offering a statement to Variety, Panacea Records' William Ray says, “We love the songs and believe some of his fans will love it too. We are excited to finally get these songs out to the world.”

In response, Morgan has dropped his rerecording of the fan-favorite “Spin You Around (1/24)” and will donate $100K from the Morgan Wallen Foundation to the Volunteer Lawyers & Professionals For The Arts (VLPA) program.

You can read Morgan’s full statement now on Instagram.

Microsoft laying off 1,900 gaming workers after acquisition of Activision Blizzard

Microsoft is laying off 1,900 workers, making up almost 9% of the company’s gaming division. According to an internal memo from Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer shared via CNBC, the layoffs were part of a plan to cut down on “areas of overlap,” after Microsoft acquired Activision Blizzard for $69 billion.  Microsoft first sought to acquire Activision Blizzard, which develops the ‘Call of Duty’ and ‘Diablo’ franchises, as well as ‘Candy Crush Saga’ through its mobile gaming subsidiary King, in January 2022, however, the acquisition was put on hold until late last year as it faced scrutiny from regulators in the United States and Britain.

Spencer’s memo read: “We have made the painful decision to reduce the size of our gaming workforce by approximately 1900 roles out of the 22,000 people on our team. The Gaming Leadership Team and I are committed to navigating this process as thoughtfully as possible. The people who are directly impacted by these reductions have all played an important part in the success of Activision Blizzard, ZeniMax and the Xbox teams, and they should be proud of everything they’ve accomplished here.”  Spencer added that Microsoft would “provide our full support to those who are impacted during the transition, including severance benefits informed by local employment laws. Those whose roles will be impacted will be notified, and we ask that you please treat your departing colleagues with the respect and compassion that is consistent with our values.”

In addition to the layoffs, former Blizzard president Mike Ybarra announced Thursday on X Thursday that he is leaving Microsoft and Blizzard: “I want to thank everyone who is impacted today for their meaningful contributions to their teams, to Blizzard, and to players’ lives. It’s an incredibly hard day and my energy and support will be focused on all those amazing individuals impacted – this is in no way a reflection on your amazing work. If there’s anything I can help with, connections, recommendations, etc., DM me.”

Microsoft’s game and studios president Matt Booty said in an internal memo that Ybarra decided to leave the company now that he has “seen the acquisition through as Blizzard’s president,” and a new Blizzard president would be named next week.  Booty also said that Allen Adham, Blizzard’s chief design officer, has also left the company: “Allen has had a broad impact on all of Blizzard’s games. His influence will be felt for years to come, both directly and indirectly as Allen plans to continue mentoring young designers across the industry.”
