“Texas Hold 'Em” is Beyoncé's first entry on 'Billboard''s Country Airplay chart

Beyoncé's no stranger to Billboard lists, yet it’s her first time on the country charts. Just two days after Columbia Nashville announced Bey’s “Texas Hold Em” is being promoted on country radio, the track’s landed at #54 on the Country Airplay chart.

The chart displays audience impressions at roughly 150 country radio stations in the U.S.: “Texas Hold ‘Em” hit 1.1 million via 100 stations in the week ending February 15.

“We immediately added it a sub-power rotation, which is where we put top-trending new music,” Bo Matthews, program director at San Jose’s KBAY, tells Billboard of “Texas Hold ‘Em.” “I want people to hear it. One of the biggest artists in the world delivered a great country record for us to have fun with, and the song is really good. We are in the business of creating excitement for our listeners and I'm embracing the moment. Plus, there is plenty of room for great artists, even from other genres. It's a big country tent.”

Virginia radio station WUSH’s program director Dave Parker ?says he “put the Beyoncé [song] directly into a strong rotation so it can be heard.”

“I want the station to sound as interesting as possible, because the opposite is boring,” he continues. “This song is sounding great and doesn't sound like anything else. Plus, the feedback from listeners and even fellow staffers so far has been very positive.”

Tim Roberts, program director of Detroit’s WYCD, adds, “I think it's a good record, and country is so popular right now, it's great that she wants to be here. Just like we do with any song on our playlist, now the listeners will decide.”

Post Malone teases new country song with Luke Combs

Post Malone is in his country era – and he’s got friends.

The global star took to Instagram on February 15 to share a snippet of a new song, captioning the clip with a clinking beer mugs emoji and tagging collaborator Luke Combs.

While Post doesn’t reveal the name of the song, he and Luke repeat the phrase “Ain’t Got a Guy For That” multiple times, suggesting that could very well be the title.

Luke took to the comments to react to the post, leaving his own clinking beer mugs emoji, as well as a fire emoji.

“Yessir,” Post commented back.

This tease of new music is fresh off Post wowing the crowd with his take on “America the Beautiful” at the Super Bowl, strumming an acoustic guitar during his performance.

Luke, of course, is still riding high after a showstopping duet of “Fast Car” with Tracy Chapman at the 2024 Grammy Awards.

New York judge orders criminal trial in Trump hush money case to proceed on March 25

On Thursday, a New York judge presiding over Donald Trump’s New York criminal trial denied his bid to dismiss the charges against him and ordered his trial to proceed as scheduled next month on March 25.

Judge Juan Merchan told a Manhattan courtroom with Trump in attendance that the “defendant’s motions to dismiss have been denied … We will move ahead with jury selection on March 25th,” adding that he expected the trial would last about six weeks.

Trump attorney Todd Blanche said that going ahead with the March trial is a “great injustice” given his other legal cases, an argument the judge batted aside. Blanche maintained that date would be “election interference” because of the presidential primaries that month. Prosecutor Matthew Colangelo said that Blanche had told his office the March 25 date would “minimize disruption” to his client because there are only a few primaries during that time, and called his current stance part of “a continued pattern to evade accountability.” Blanche later again objected to the trial date, complaining his client “will spend the next two months preparing for this trial during a campaign. It is just not something that should happen in this country.” Trump himself said to reporters after the hearing: “It’s a disgraceful situation. I’m going to have to sit here for months on a trial in a rigged state, a rigged city. It’s ridiculous. I’ll be here during the day and campaigning during the night.

Trump faces 34 felony charges in the case, in which prosecutors allege Trump falsified the business records in an effort to conceal a series of payments to former Trump attorney Michael Cohen, reimbursing Cohen for $130,000 he paid to adult film star Stormy Daniels on Trump’s behalf during the 2016 presidential election.  The case was the first of what is now four criminal cases Trump faces, all in which the former president Trump has pleaded not guilty. Trump has repeatedly claimed they criminal cases are part of a political “witch hunt” designed to hurt his 2024 run for the White House.

2 juveniles detained as police say ‘dispute between several people’ led to shooting at Chiefs Super Bowl parade

Authorities said on Thursday that two of the three people detained after the deadly shooting following Wednesday’s parade celebrating the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl win were identified as juveniles. Kansas City Police Chief Stacey Graves shared that the preliminary findings from the investigation found that the shooting doesn’t have any connection to terrorism or homegrown violent extremism, instead appearing to stem from a ‘dispute between several people.’  Graves said no charges have been filed as of Thursday, and the investigation into the shooting is ongoing, noting “This is still under investigation. We do have 24 hours until we either have to file charges or release them.” Three people in total were detained, including one suspect was arrested after being chased by police shortly after the shots were fired. Several firearms has been recovered, Graves said. but authorities haven’t identified any of the suspects at this time.

At least one person was killed and over 20 people, including young children and teens, were wounded in the shooting near Union Station at the conclusion of the Chiefs’ Super Bowl victory parade Wednesday. The person who was killed in the shooting has been identified as Lisa Lopez-Galvan, 43, a local radio host. At least 22 other people were wounded in the shooting, with Kansas City Fire Department Chief Ross Grundyson sharing that eight were in critical condition, seven in serious condition and six had minor injuries. Graves said Thursday that the people injured in the shooting ranged between the ages of 8 and 47 years old, and half of the victims were under the age of 16.

Lady A credits fans for choosing “Love You Back” as a single

Wondering how Lady A landed on “Love You Back” as their latest single? Well, if you’re a fan, you have yourself to thank for that.

The decision, as Lady A’s Hillary Scott recounts, arrived after two main events: their 2023 Request Line Tour and CMA Fest.

“It’s been such an incredible experience. We’ve learned, I think, a lot about just how to connect with our fans on a much deeper and intentional level, and that had a lot to do with actually picking this song as the single,” says Hillary.

“We did a fan event over CMA Fest where we invited people into a room and we kind of polled them and we’re like, ‘Here’s three songs, here’s four songs. Which one is your favorite?'” she shares. “‘Love You Back’ was the one.”

“Love You Back” is the lead single from Lady A’s forthcoming new project. Their latest album is 2021’s What A Song Can Do.
