Heartbreak inspires Nate Smith's “Bulletproof”

Nate Smith has dropped a new breakup song, “Bulletproof.”

Ben JohnsonHunter Phelps and Ashley Gorley penned the track, and it’s one that Nate says he relates to even though he didn’t write it.

“I've tried to outrun the pain of a heartbreak in so many different ways. And I feel like the only thing that can really get you through it is time. And just doing that self-care, that self-healing, and stuff so,” says Nate. “That's kinda what the song is about. Trying everything you can to outrun the pain of a heartbreak, but you can't do it.”

“Bulletproof” will serve as the follow-up single to Nate’s latest #1 hits “World on Fire” and “Whiskey on You.” It’s also the first preview of his as-yet-untitled sophomore album.

Nate’s currently on his World on Fire Tour with upcoming stops in Los Angeles, Bakersfield and Sacramento, California, on February 15, 16 and 17, respectively.

You can find tickets and a full list of dates at natesmithofficial.com.

Reba on performing national anthem at Super Bowl: “What an honor”

Reba McEntire experienced quite a full circle moment when she performed the national anthem at Sunday’s Super Bowl 58.

Before rising to superstardom, Reba sang the national anthem at Oklahoma City’s National Finals Rodeo in 1974, where she was discovered by Red Steagall and subsequently offered a record deal. Now, 50 years later, she performed “The Star-Spangled Banner” again – but on a bigger, international stage.

“What an honor! Thank you @NFL for having me!” Reba said on X, formerly known as Twitter, after her performance.

“I get to sing a very special song for all Americans, people all around the world, who have really worked so hard for our freedom and to give us peace, and it's not about me,” Reba shared in a press conference before Sunday’s game. “I'm the representation of this song, and I'm just honored to get to sing it. It's a good one. I've been doing it for 50 years, and I'm really proud to get to sing it.”

You can watch Reba’s performance of the national anthem now on YouTube.

Nigerian bank CEO and family among 6 killed in helicopter crash in California

A helicopter carrying six people, including the CEO of a Nigerian bank, crashed in California’s Mojave Desert, killing all people on board.

Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, the director-general of the World Trade Organization and former finance minister of Nigeria, said in a post on X that Lagos-based Access Bank CEO Herbert Wigwe, his wife and his son were on board. She did not include the names of Wigwe’s wife and son. A fourth passenger, Bimbo Ogunbanjo, also known as Abimbola Ogunbanjo, was among the dead, Okonjo-Iweala said. He is the former chair of NGX Group, the Nigerian stock exchange.  Access Bank also confirmed Wigwe’s death, posting on X: “Today, we bid farewell to a visionary leader, @HerbertOWigwe, whose passion and unwavering commitment to excellence transformed Access into a global powerhouse. His legacy of excellence and compassion will continue to inspire us all. Rest in peace, Herbert Wigwe. Your impact will forever be felt.”

The two crew members and four passengers departed from Palm Springs, California, at 8:45 p.m. Friday and were en route to Boulder City, Nevada, about 26 miles outside of Las Vegas, officials said. National Transportation Safety Board member Michael Graham said at a news conference Saturday night that the helicopter “impacted the ground” near Halloran Springs, California, at 10:08 p.m. All six people on board — the pilot-in-command, a safety pilot and four passengers — were killed, Graham said.  The Eurocopter EC-130 helicopter didn’t have a cockpit voice recorder or flight data recorder, nor was it required to, according to Graham.

The California Highway Patrol reported shortly after the crash that a “large band of snow” was moving through Halloran Springs, according to a log of traffic incidents. It said the snow was moderate and mixed with rain. The cause of the crash has not been determined; the NTSB said an investigation was underway.

“Find Another Bar” is Chris Lane's long-awaited “version of a breakup song”

Loving Chris Lane‘s From Where I’m Sippin’ EP? Good news: More music’s on the way.

Chatting with ABC Audio recently, Chris talked about the forthcoming releases with his new label home, Red Street Records, and why he’s excited about them.

“I think the thing I’m most excited about [is] this is going to give me the opportunity to release the most music of my entire career, and I’m very proud of all five of these songs [on From Where I’m Sippin’],” says Chris.

“As I’ve taken a ton of time off the road to be a dad, it gave me a chance to focus on songwriting for the first time in my career, and I feel like I’ve got some really great songs that I recorded and songs that are about to be recorded,” he reflects.

“Find Another Bar,” the project’s lead single, is one Chris is particularly proud of because it displays another side of his songwriting.

“‘Find Another Bar’ is one of those things, you know, I’d recorded ‘For Her,’ ‘Take Back Home Girl,’ ‘I Don’t Know About You’ and ‘Big Plans’ all in a row, and I feel like every country artist needs a good breakup song. And I hadn’t really had one of those,” says Chris. “So this was my version of a breakup song, and glad to finally have one out there.”

Coming up, Chris will hit the road on his Find Another Bar Tour: College Edition. For tickets and a full list of Chris’ tour dates, head to his website.
