Miley Cyrus & Pharrell Williams team up on the new song ‘Doctor (Work It Out)’

Miley Cyrus, 31 and Pharrell Williams, 50, have teamed up for the single “Doctor (Work It Out),” produced by Williams.  The song marks Cyrus’ first release since her album Endless Summer Vacation dropped in March 2023,

“Doctor (Work It Out)” was reportedly first created during recording sessions for Cyrus’ album 2013 album, Bangerz.   Cyrus and Williams first previewed the song in January, during the Louis Vuitton Men’s Fall-Winter 2024 Collection presentation in Paris. Cyrus later shared a snippet of the video to her Instagram, showing a clip of her dancing.

Miley and Williams spoke with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe about the collaboration, with Miley sharing that Williams was pivotal in helping her shed her ‘Disney Channel/Hannah Montana’ image: “He [Pharrell] really was the only one that I could kind of tell him what I really wanted, what I really wanted to make, who I really wanted to be, what I really wanted to do. Pharrell was perfect because it was almost like he could be a bumper for me, but he wasn’t going to be a bridle.”  Added Williams: “I’ll never forget just meeting her at a time where people had pegged her to be one thing particularly. She was Hannah Montana at the time, and she was growing up and really wanting to experience life no matter how far the precipice was. I just remember her just being in a place where no one really understood what she was, and I got it.”

The video for “Doctor (Work It Out)” shows Cyrus take center stage as she dances to the music. You can check it out: here.

What to know about Garth Brooks' new Nashville bar, Friends in Low Places

The iconic lead single off Garth Brooks‘ 1990 album, No Fences, “Friends in Low Places,” is getting the brick-and-mortar treatment.

The country music superstar’s latest project, the Friends in Low Places Bar & Honky Tonk, has officially opened its doors, making it a permanent fixture in Nashville.

The 17-time American Music Awards winner and two-time Grammy winner first teased an early peek at the new establishment on ABC’s Good Morning America before joining Robin Roberts live on Thursday when the four-story bar, restaurant and music venue opened in Music City.

Garth even helped the city establish a new police substation that’s situated conveniently next door to his new hotspot in the South Broadway District.

“We had an alley next door, too, which nothing good went in. We had an opportunity to bring the police down here. Broadway has grown so fast the police don’t have a substation,” Garth told GMA.

“Now they got one next door. We love our men and women in blue in this community. They’re like celebrities here. Everybody takes pictures with them,” the singer continued. “Now they have a place here with a bar. It’s fun. We’re part of this neon neighborhood. I’m welcoming anybody to Nashville. Nothing but a big party.”

Garth also performed “Neon Neighborhood” from his latest album, Time Traveler.

Garth and his wife, country music star, TV host and cookbook author Trisha Yearwood, documented their journey building the ultimate oasis on Lower Broadway in their new show, Friends in Low Places.

The docuseries takes fans inside the construction and opening of the Friends in Low Places Bar & Honky Tonk and begins streaming on Prime Video March 7.

Carrie Underwood's inspired by Reba, Dolly, Martina: “These women just juggle everything masterfully”

To celebrate International Women’s Day (March 8), Carrie Underwood is sharing about the women in country music who inspire her personally and professionally.

“I think my biggest influences musically, or career-wise, would have to be women like Reba [McEntire], Dolly [Parton], Faith Hill [and] Martina McBride,” says Carrie. “You see all of these women just juggle everything masterfully and many of them are moms and they're superstars and they're talented, and you know, I know how hard they work because I'm in their shoes somewhat and doing the same juggling.”

“You have the kids and the career and you're just trying to crush everything you do and being pulled in a million different directions,” she continues. “To see women like that who are just beautiful and smart and strong and talented, knowing that they have come first and they're still getting to do what they love and they're still getting to be the mom and the wife and all the things – that's just such an inspiration to me and just lets me know that I can do it too.”

Carrie’s approaching the top of the country charts with her latest single, “Out of That Truck.” You can find it on 2023’s Denim & Rhinestones (Deluxe Edition).

Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell endorses Donald Trump for president

On Wednesday, Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell endorsed Donald Trump for president in a drastic turnaround. McConnell declared his support in a short statement after Trump’s Super Tuesday victories, which pushed the GOP front-runner closer to the party nomination. McConnell’s statement read: “It is abundantly clear that former President Trump has earned the requisite support of Republican voters to be our nominee for President of the United States. It should come as no surprise that as nominee, he will have my support.”

McConnell, Trump’s onetime critic who criticized his as “morally responsible” for the “disgraceful” acts in the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol attack, has not spoken to the former president since 2020 – after he declared Democrat Joe Biden the winner of the that year’s presidential election.

The endorsement from McConnell comes after he announced last week he would step down after this term as leader, a position he has held longer than any other senator. Despite his concerns about Trump, McConnell seems to be in favor of the outcomes the former president was able to accomplish during his term, saying that he and Trump “worked together to accomplish great things for the American people.”  With McConnell leading the Senate, Trump signed a GOP tax cuts package into law, and was able to have the Senate confirm three justices to the Supreme Court while fulfilling conservatives’ long-term goal of overturning Roe v. Wade and the constitutional right to an abortion.

Democrat Adam Schiff, Republican Steve Garvey advance to general election for California’s Senate seat

Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) and Republican Steve Garvey will face each other in California’s November Senate race. seeking to fill late Sen. Diane Feinstein’s Senate seat. Feinstein, D-Calif., died last September, and California Gov. Gavin Newsom appointed Laphonza Butler to serve out the remainder of her term.

Schiff and Garvey defeated progressive Democrats Katie Porter and Rep. Barbara Lee (D-Calif.), and will face-off in the general election. Under California’s primary election system, the two candidates with the most votes advance to the general election regardless of party affiliation.  Porter and Lee will also vacate their House seats at the end of the term.  The results mean that for the first time in 30 years, California will not be represented by a woman in the U.S. Senate. Either Schiff or Garvey will be the first White male U.S. senator representing California in 32 years. Democrats are favored to win the general election in the solidly blue state.

Schff said in a recent interview that if elected senator, his top priorities will be to “make the economy work for people. For millions of people, they’re working harder than ever and they’re still struggling to get by. We need to bring down the cost of housing first and foremost here in California … But the other two big existential threats are to our democracy and to our planet. And these are the issues I’ve been talking about throughout the state. The need to fight for an economy that, you know, that rewards folks who are working hard with a good quality of life and, but also save our democracy from a would-be dictator.”

Garvey, a political newcomer who played for Major League Baseball’s Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres, hailed his performance as a “California comeback” and said at an election night celebration that “what you’re all feeling tonight is what it’s like to hit a walk-off home run … but keep in mind this is the first game of a doubleheader. So keep the evening of November 5 open.”
