Jordan Davis + Anne Wilson count their blessings in “Country Gold”

Jordan Davis has teamed up with rising country artist Anne Wilson for a new song, “Country Gold.”

Penned by Anne, Jeff Pardo and Matthew West, the heartfelt ode finds Jordan and Anne celebrating the simpler things in life and how those moments truly feel like striking “country gold,” especially in the South.

“It’s a little house on a little land/ A little built it with your own two hands/ Little pride in a hard week’s work/ Little supper after Sunday church/ To most it might not look like much/ But I put roots down here because/ The richest people that I’ve ever known/ Struck country gold,” Jordan and Anne reflect in the chorus.

“I’m a huge fan of Jordan’s music, and I’m honored to have him join me,” Anne shares in a press release. “This song is all about roots and remembering where the good stuff in life really is. I love the line that says, ‘the richest people that I’ve ever known struck country gold,’ and I hope you do too. I can’t wait for everyone to hear it!”

“Thanks for letting me sing with ya @annewilsonmusic.You're awesome,” Jordan said to Anne via a comment on her Instagram post.

You can find “Country Gold” on Anne’s upcoming country debut album, REBEL. Arriving April 19, the 16-track project will feature its lead country single, “Rain in the Rearview,” and collabs with Lainey Wilson and fellow Christian artist Chris Tomlin.

Meanwhile, Jordan’s in the top 10 and ascending the country charts with his latest single, “Tuscon Too Late.”

Sam Hunt drops Johnny Cash-inspired “Locked Up” video

Sam Hunt walked in Johnny Cash‘s shoes in the music video for his new song, “Locked Up.”

Inspired by Johnny’s 1968 Johnny Cash performance at Folsom State Prison, the visualizer follows Sam as he performs for inmates at the Brushy Mountain State Penitentiary in Petros, Tennessee. Sam’s wife, Hannah Lee Fowler, also guest stars on the video as his onscreen companion.

“The night I got locked up, everything went wrong/ The night I got messed up, should’ve just stayed home/ Pick?d up my phone, what can I say?/ Well, I thought that you’d walk away/ But you stood by your man, Tammy Wynett?/ It hit the fan, you could’ve just quit/ Nah, but you showed me love/ You didn’t go when the goin’ got tough, the night I got locked up,” Sam sings in the autobiographical chorus.

“Locked Up” was preceded by “Came the Closest,” “Women in My Life” and “Outskirts,” which is now in the top five of the country charts.

Tickets to Sam’s ongoing Outskirts Tour are available now at samhunt.com.

1 man killed, his brother injured in 1st fatal California mountain lion attack in 20 years

Officials have confirmed that an attack by a mountain lion in a remote Northern California region west of Lake Tahoe left one man dead and his brother injured, marking the first fatal incident by a mountain lion in the state in 20 years.

The attack took place on Saturday afternoon while the brothers, ages 21 and 18, were out searching for shed deer antlers near the El Dorado National Forest, about 52 miles northeast of Sacramento. An 18-year-old man called 911 on Saturday at about 1:13 p.m. PT to report that he and his brother had been attacked by the mountain lion in Georgetown and he had become separated from his older sibling, according to a statement from the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office.  Georgetown is a small town north of Placerville, California.

When sheriff’s deputies and paramedics arrived at the scene near Georgetown around 1:34 p.m., they located the injured teenager and began administering first aid. The teenager sustained “traumatic injuries to his face” and transported to a nearby hospital. Information on his condition was not immediately disclosed. Additional deputies sent to the scene launched a search for the teenager’s brother, finding the 21-year-old man nearby lying motionless on the ground with the mountain lion crouched next to him. According to a statement, “deputies discharged their firearms in order to scare the mountain lion off so they could render medical aid,” but by the time they reached the victim, he was dead.

California Department of Fish and Wildlife said in a statement on social media: “Following the mountain lion attack today, Sat., March 23, 2024, in Georgetown, California, a mountain lion was euthanized near the scene of the attack. The mountain lion has been sent to the CDFW forensics laboratory to obtain DNA information and general health of the lion.”

Authorities said mountain lion attacks are rare, and most verified encounters between the big cats and humans are not fatal. According to the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, before Saturday’s attack there had been only three fatal mountain lion attacks on humans in California since 1994, the most recent involving a 35-year-old male who was fatally mauled in 2004 at Whiting Ranch Regional Park in Orange County.

The police said in a news release that two off-duty Indianapolis Metro Police officers were working security at a bar at 9449 E. Washington St. when, around 1:30 a.m., there was a “disturbance in the parking lot .. At some point, there was an exchange of gunfire between the two officers and at least one suspect, resulting in one officer being shot …When first responders arrived at the scene, other officers rendered aid to their colleague, who was taken to a hospital in stable condition.”

Four other people also suffered gunshot wounds, with the victims identified as two 45-year-old men, a 42-year-old man and a 33-year-old woman. Police say another male victim showed up with an apparent gunshot wound at Community East Hospital, where he later died.

Brothers Osborne hope new EP marks start of shorter wait times between projects

If you thought the turnaround between Brothers Osborne‘s latest self-titled album and their Break Mine EP is short, you’re not wrong.

The duo noticed that too, and their decision for the swift release was intentional.

“We over-recorded some stuff on this last project,” Brothers Osborne’s TJ tells ABC Audio. “Every time we release an album, everyone’s always still asking for more music, and there’s so much music that comes out now. Music [gets released] and before you know it, it seems like that album’s a year old and [Brothers Osborne] just came out last [September].”

“So we were like, let’s hold some songs back and then we will do some mini-releases,” he explains.

With their EP branching out from the typical roll-out schedule, Brothers Osborne hope to deliver fresh tunes to fans sooner than ever before.

“Hopefully this will be the first of two, three, four – I don’t know, we haven’t really figured it out yet – but we do want to keep releasing music faster and more abundantly for the fans that always ask for it every year,” TJ shares. “We haven’t done that until now, and we’re not the first to have done it.”

“However, I think this is just really kind of a call-and-answer to the fans over the years of one of that,” he adds.

Brothers Osborne’s Break Mine EP is out wherever you enjoy music.

Keith Urban drops his latest single ‘Messed Up As Me’

Keith Urban has dropped the second single for his upcoming 12th album, titled “Messed Up As Me”. The new track follows the upcoming album’s lead single “Straight Line.” Along with Urban, “Messed Up As Me” was produced by his longtime collaborator Dan Huff, who has produced most of Urban’s music starting with 2002′ Golden Road.

Urban said of the song: “Messed Up As Me” is about toxic relationships that aren’t easy to get out of. Most of us have been in dysfunctional relationships before, where there’s not a lot of compatibility, except for that one area where it’s so good you put up with all the rest. A phone call or a night out and you’re right back where you shouldn’t be.”

Urban’s last album, The Speed of Now Part 1, dropped 2020. The new album, expected to drop sometime later this year, is still unnamed. Urban said of the new LP that each song included “carries an energy and a life force that became a very strong through line. I hope you feel it. I’m so excited for everyone to hear the whole thing.”

5 Seconds of Summer teams w/ Galantis, David Guetta for the song ‘Lighter’

DJ David Guetta and Galantis have teamed up with pop-rock band 5 Seconds of Summer to release ‘Lighter.’

Speaking about the track, Galantis’ Christian Karlsson said: “‘Lighter’ is a special song because the creative momentum between myself, David and 5SOS aligned so well – we let the collaboration flow into a piece of music that feels emotional and timeless. Michael (Clifford) is such a music lover very much like me, and working closely with him on producing the live elements like strings, guitar and drums was very inspiring. And it’s always great working with David, after the amazing response we had with ‘Heartbreak Anthem’ it’s exciting to be putting out another big record together.”

‘Lighter’ is the latest track from Galantis, following a busy 2023 in which Galantis and Guetta previously teamed up with artists including Little Mix and MNEK for collabs.
